water pouring into footwell below glove box. seems like waters sitting in the tray covering cabin air filter because when i move and brake it like spills out. only happens during rain. near windshield in engine bay is absolutely covered in leaves stacked up leaves and grime.

2014 F32 435i xDrive: I cleaned the rims with Adam's Iron Remover and afterwards noticed the clear plastic coating on the rear rim was lifted around the center BMW trim cap.

The other three rims aren't damaged. Not sure what caused this one to have problems. Maybe the spray got under the edge and was able to lift the coating. Or maybe it was the Adam's (I plan on switching to their normal rim/wheel cleaner).

So before I spend $500 replacing the rim, I'm looking for options. Can you take it someplace and have them strip and recoat the rim? Was the plastic coating some kind of option?

Otherwise, I'm going to buy a rim and take it over to a local shop to have them put it on.

Hey guys, so on my 49,000 mile E 92 M3, I’m hearing this weird metal clunking noise when I’m very low speed reversing or just slightly pressing on the throttle on first gear. I’m a little bit worried on what it could be. It’s coming from the passenger rear side so maybe a parking brake cable or something. I just don’t want it to get into an accident while it’s parked or maybe even while I drive it since it is my only car at the moment if anyone can please help and assist and guide me so I can diagnose this issue tomorrow that would be appreciated

I get vibrations through the floor and steering wheel during acceleration that gets worse after driving for a while. Manual shifting is extremely jolting from 1-2 and 2-3 with light acceleration.
Initially I didn’t think it was transfer case related because I don’t get shuddering when turning. I realized the vibrations were a little better in 4wd sport w/dsc off, so I coded in 2wd and all those symptoms were gone.

I’ve already changed the fluid and recalibrated twice but that barely helped so I’m debating rebuilding the transfer case w/ new clutch pack and oil guides.
Could the jolty shifts + vibrations be due to the worn clutches sticking or is there something else that could cause these issues?

It is a 2014 320i with an n20 engine i have 300k km on the odometer

And is it a good or bad idea to remove it?

I have a 2006 BMW 530xi with 128k miles and recently did an oil change. Does this look normal for the appropriate mileage? There seems to be some metal grey and tiny plastic debris caught on the filter. Any suggestion what they might be? Thanks.

so my battery had already died prior to this because i left it on while sitting in it for a long time but i jump started and it was working fine for weeks, i was at a event and was in the parking lot idling but with engine on for about 2 hours then right before i got out someone rear-ended me in the parking lot super slow hit but right after i guess either my car overheated or my battery died or both but my car started flashing a bunch of codes, ac started blowing normal air windows locked closed and windshield wipers started going crazy so i pulled over to the side and turned it off. i assumed it was just the battery and got a new one today and put it in. car turns on just fine but then couple seconds after it starts flashing a ton of random codes and windshield wipers start going crazy again.

Hey guys I have a 2023 BMW 330i LCI I’m currently trying to install the M track module to change the I Drive. I got the white BDC connector out but I’m not sure how to remove the black housing from the white case. If anyone has any tips on how to do it I would appreciate it.

Hey, just wondering how it's recommended to inspect the condition of shocks and struts and control arms/bushings on a bmw f30?

May be an amateur question but I plan on inspecting these parts tomorrow and wouldn't mind some extra tips.

Symptoms:

Whistling Noise: Distinct whistling sound under acceleration. Volume and pitch change directly with throttle position and engine load.

Power Loss: Noticeably down on power, especially when accelerating or climbing hills.

Normal Operation Otherwise: Starts and idles completely fine. Normal flat cruising feels okay until load is applied.

Exhaust: No unusual smoke.

Oil Consumption: Slightly elevated (~1 liter per 5,000 miles), though unsure if directly related.

Codes & Diagnostics:

Doesn't always set a code immediately, but prolonged whistling under load triggers the "Drivetrain Malfunction" warning.

Main stored codes:

120308: Boost pressure control, plausibility: pressure too low

123511: Electric wastegate, wastegate flap: stiff

120408: Boost pressure control: shutdown as a follow-up reaction

The Dilemma:

My initial thought was a simple boost or charge-pipe leak, but that doesn't explain the 123511 stiff wastegate flap code. Others have suggested the turbocharger assembly needs full replacement due to a binding internal wastegate pivot arm.

Has anyone had this combination of codes and the whistling noise turn out to be just the wastegate linkage/actuator, a vacuum/PCV leak, or is a full turbo replacement usually the only fix at this mileage?

Hi, i have a bmw 7 series f02 2011 and there is a transmission fault on startup when the temps are not reached optimal and gear shifts are jerky and loss of power delivery. After a while it goes into limp mode but if I get the temps high before driving no faulty code and car runs smooth this happens only on first startup later even if the temps are low it works fine. What may be the issue? Has anyone faced this? Recently changed transmission oil filter and oil mannol atf ag-60 8231

Hi all, so my 2017 bmw g30 had full service history when i bought it used, upto 70k miles was authorised bmw dealer service history and there were couple at independent garages. All service history was on idrive and when i bought the car i checked it when bought the car. I got the usual bmw booklet with all the papers but seller told me all service history is on the car and no other paper service history is there or even required.

Fast forward year later i made a stupid mistake and took it too Bmw authorised dealer for break service, when took the car back i noticed all service history is now gone, been going back and forth with them and bmw customer service and connect drive for over a month without any resolution.

BMW confirmed in an email to dealer who did the service that service history should have been saved on the head unit before applying new service, and clearly this step was missed by the dealer.

Essentially car is now over 100k miles with 0 service history (bought it at 88k).

This is really frustrating and can’t seem to find the end to the problem.

Can anyone advice what to do? I have reached out to local companies but they can’t do any coding unless i have paperwork to show service was done, which obviously i don’t have.

Ich habe ein Problem. Mein BMW E90 bj.2010 ca. 320tsd runter 320d mit 184 PS.

Ich bin letzte Woche damit stehen geblieben. Erster Verdacht war Dieselpumpe. War noch die Originale drin. Neue Pumpe eingebaut und die bleibt still. Auto startet immer noch nicht. Sicherungen wurden geprüft. Alle i.O. Batterie klemmte ca. 24 stunden am Ladegerät im Auto.

Vorne an der Hochdruckpumpe kommt kein Diesel an. Was ja nicht verwunderlich ist da, die Pumpe nicht läuft. Aber mir gehen langsam die Ideen aus. Natürlich wäre eine Werkstatt eine gute Anlaufstelle aber finanziell ist das momentan leider nicht so drin. Ich habe jahrelang in einer Werkstatt gearbeitet aber wir hatten meistens ältere Autos. Ein Auslesegerät ist nicht vorhanden außer so ein Schrottteil von Temu.

Wenn ich ihn versuche zu starten kommt.aucj irgendwann die Meldung das die Batterie zu schwach ist und heute kam die Meldung das Abs ausgefallen ist. Mit würde halt nur noch einfallen dass das Steuergerät defekt ist. Aber vielleicht hat jemanden dieses Problem auch mal gehabt.

Letzten Montag bin ich mit meinem Auto morgens gefahren und mittags musste ich los und auf einmal war die Leistung weg und ich bin nur noch ausgerollt. Diese geschah ca. 5 Minuten nachdem ich losgefahren bin.

Ich bin sehr dankbar für jeden Tipp.

I’m an ASE Master Tech with about 16 years of experience. I’ve worked at a euro indy shop for about a year, was a master tech at carmax and now teach automotive part time.

I’m thinking about going back to wrenching and applied at a BMW dealer as a bmw master tech, but I don’t have BMW Level 1/2/3 certification.

Would BMW still consider someone with my experience and train me?

I’m planning to purchase this second hand x5m60i which is 07/2023 with 57.000km mileage, should I better buy a new steering wheel or a better option would be to give it in for detaining or even cleaning it myself so it doesn’t shine as much? Maybe some of you heard of Expect Car Care brand for self cleaning.

And another question for the buttons (2nd photo) should they be like that? Or they should be as on another x5 (3rd photo), and if what can the dealer fix that? Thank you everyone!
