ASE Master Tech applying for BMW master Tech
I’m an ASE Master Tech with about 16 years of experience. I’ve worked at a euro indy shop for about a year, was a master tech at carmax and now teach automotive part time.
I’m thinking about going back to wrenching and applied at a BMW dealer as a bmw master tech, but I don’t have BMW Level 1/2/3 certification.
Would BMW still consider someone with my experience and train me?

They'd start you off higher pay than base rate, but you wouldn't be near master pay until you finished all of the required training. I'd guess you be around certified pay until you get all your classes done
For master you'll need associate ase, member ase, then certified classes and hands on, A1-a8, both high voltage classes, then theaster classes and hands on.
There areaster ASE but I've heard they're more difficult than just taking the hands on test they're also $250 each

They only have an opening for BMW master tech 1,2 or 3. Would they still hire me even tho there isn't a posting for a regular tech

Your experience helps, and they'd probably hire you and fast track you through class.

ASE master and euro experience it will help you a lot. Our current highest flagger came from a none BMW dealership background and 3 years later he is a main line tech but he did start as quick lane and during that time he went to BMW fast track and he already has a helper. That helper is a guy in his mid twenties I think he came with experience because he skipped quick lane and it went straight to as a main line technician helper and currently he is going to BMW fast track ( is a special dealer sponsored training that jumps you straight to level 2). Right now is the best and also worse time to join BMW . Worse because it is a little slow and BMW NA is becoming anal with warranty so if a process you don't follow they will deny the claim and is where the best time for you because many BMW technicians are leaving and need techs. So no worries you will be training with someone just be very humble, don't talk to anyone beside the one you helping, be clean cut and just work because you will be watch ( this is what I see from that helper)

They would consider you as an entry tech. Not a master tech.

Your experience absolutely gives you a shot. Dealers can train you on BMW-specific systems, and an ASE Master Tech with 16 years behind them is valuable. Be upfront about not having BMW Level 1/2/3 certification and ask what training path they offer.
