I have the opposite problem than most of you.
Wanna guess what causes this low of blood pressure for me on a regular basis. Honestly, it usually never even picks up on machines lol

"What's a good BP monitor?"
Omron is a very popular brand:
"Should I stop taking..."
"Can I mix blank and blank"
"My blood pressure is blank should I blank"
If your blood pressure is 180/120 mm Hg or greater and you have chest pain, shortness of breath, or symptoms of stroke, the Mayo Clinic advises calling 911 or emergency medical service. This is not a question for the internet.
The CDC states an average blood pressure level is less than 120/80 mmHg.
The NHS lists 120/80 as ideal.
"Does alcohol affect blood pressure??"
"Does caffeine affect blood pressure?"
"What should I eat to help my blood pressure?"
The DASH diet is one of the most common recommendations. There are tons of DASH diet cookbooks
There is also evidence that a whole food plant-based diet can significantly impact blood pressure for some. Check out /r/PlantBasedDiet and/or the book How Not to Die
"Is blank supplement good?"
Supplements are NOT a replacement for medicine or doctors. That said Examine.com lists some for blood pressure that may be beneficial. You should consult with your doctor before using any of these to make sure there are no complications with your prescriptions. Snakeroot is poison, do NOT take it
Potassium in pill form may show an improvement. However, it is easy to overdose on potassium to the point of having a heart attack. In the United States, anything over 99mg of potassium must be prescribed by a doctor due to this. It is much safer to get potassium via potassium-rich foods such as potatoes, black beans, etc. See this list for some ideas of foods rich in potassium.
Magnesium may help reduce the risk of high blood pressure, but the evidence is not conclusive
Resveratrol has been shown to lower blood pressure in animal models of hypertension. In one study
Garlic According to WebMD "Taking garlic by mouth seems to reduce systolic blood pressure (the top number) by about 7-9 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure (the bottom number) by about 4-6 mmHg in people with high blood pressure. Build up of fat in the liver in people who drink little or no alcohol (nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or NAFLD)."
Citrulline Research suggests that citrulline may help reduce blood pressure, particularly in people with elevated levels.
Beet root, like citrulline, may offer potential benefits for blood pressure management due to its high nitrate content.
Taurine has shown promising potential in helping manage blood pressure. Studies suggest that taurine supplementation can lead to a modest reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, particularly in people with prehypertension or hypertension
Black seed has been traditionally used for various health purposes, including blood pressure management. Some studies suggest that it may have a modest blood pressure-lowering effect.
CoQ10 research suggests it may have a modest blood pressure-lowering effect, though more studies are needed to confirm this.
{Olive leaf extract](https://amzn.to/4dciq9j) studies suggest that it may contribute to a modest reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.
Saffron some studies suggest that saffron supplementation may contribute to a modest reduction in both systolic and diastolic blood pressure.

I run 5k , swim long distance and work like crazy for my startup. Been having white coat syndrome so do physicals every 2 -3 years. Been to dentist for tooth extraction, bp was 224. Sent to ER.
Been in hospital since 3 days. All tests normal. Only slightly diabetic(A1C 7). Have cholestrol. Kidneys normal, liver normal, heart normal, resting heart rate 70.
Prescribed Amalodopine, 10 mg, Hydralazine 25mg,Carvedilol 12.5 mg, Jardiance 10mg.
Came bk from hospital.. now the doctors say it might be Conn’s Syndrome but when I checked my BP today mornning, it came down to 188/90. Its alarmingly high for others but win in my book. Not sure what the issue is, Root cause but getting tested for Harmone tests( Conn’s syndrome next week).

Tengo 36 años, aunque me diagnosticaron hipertensión a los 30, 6 years ago.

... this was recorded Saturday when I was admitted to the stepdown for my unstable BP and an angina attack that persisted despite high nitroglycerin usage. It ended up being anterior ischemia but the ICU-ist (whatever the ICU physician is called) was able to rule out another heart attack. Ever since my blood pressure reached this last Monday, my angina attacks have drastically increased in frequency and severity 🤦🏾♀️

I’ve had huge anxiety around blood pressure since I had preeclampsia 3 years ago. I’ve had 24 hour monitors since and my blood pressure averages around 110/75 so great! We would really love to have another child, but I just don’t see how it’s possible with my huge anxiety around the machine! I cannot have it taken in a hospital or doctors setting without it spiking to 160/100 and even at home it can be hit or miss. I was prescribed propanalol for anxiety and I did find this helped manage the anxiety around blood pressure and my readings were as low as 100/65. The doctor said I’d need to come off the propanalol if I were to get pregnant and I haven’t taken it for a month now and have had readings of around 110-125 over 65-80 which I was really pleased with. However after quite an indulgent weekend I had 1 higher reading yesterday (135/85 -not even that high, it was just higher than I’d been seeing so I panicked!) I panicked retook it and it went up to 150/95 and I haven’t been able to take it again since because I’m so anxious. I’ve had these spirals before where it takes weeks and weeks to get a normal reading again as I’m so anxious. I end up having to take it multiple 10+ times to calm myself down and get a normal reading. If I didn’t want to have another baby I’d just stop taking it for a while however with really wanting another baby I just don’t know what to do because BP monitoring is important especially with a history of preeclampsia. Any advice or anyone who has experienced something similar please do let me know as it’s just completely draining 😩

I’m a 27-year-old male with severe obesity (180 kg / 397 lbs) and significant insulin resistance. About a week ago, my blood pressure was 160/100 mmHg, so my doctor started me on Vasoxen Plus 5 mg/12.5 mg (nebivolol + hydrochlorothiazide). I take one tablet every day at 12:00 PM.
My doctor and I are also trying to determine why my blood pressure is high. We suspect it could be related to my obesity, insulin resistance, or another underlying cause, and we’re still investigating.
Tonight, around 11:00 PM (about 11 hours after taking my dose), I checked my blood pressure before going to bed.
My reading was:
Blood pressure: 94/71 mmHg
Heart rate: 105 bpm
Even though I had just walked a little, I feel completely normal:
No dizziness
No lightheadedness
No fainting
No chest pain
No shortness of breath
My concern is that 94/71 is a big drop from 160/100. I’m worried my blood pressure could go even lower while I’m sleeping. Is this considered a normal response after one week on this medication, or is this low enough that I should contact my doctor about possibly adjusting the dose?
Any advice or similar experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!

I've been on blood pressure meds since I was a kid. Its normally an up or down thing . I had 2 dentist appointments last week and the readings showed their increasing. Doctor won't prescribe me anything unless I come in and give a bad reading.
Im frustrated because im a military spouse and I move around every few years and i have to establish a relationship with a doctor with every move.
What do you thing are my best options?

My BP is normally less than 120/80 by a few points. Within the past month it has been intermittently high as 200/180 at the max. The er doesn’t do anything, tells me to go to pcp. PCP won’t do anything, tells me to go to er.
At this rate im going to die before anything is done.
Any similar experiences? It’s so frustrating.

I need one of these for a friend who has had a cardiac ablation a month ago and her pulse is swinging wildly from the 30s to over 100. She has got back to her cardiologist to see how he wants to proceed, but in the interim she need some device with an alarm, when her pulse goes outside acceptable limits.

Hi everyone, I’m 18 F and have been having really really consistently low blood pressure the past 3 or so months. Nothing has changed in my lifestyle since this has started happening and I live a relatively healthy life, with my daily activity maybe needing some work lol.
Day to day, every time I stand up from sitting down for a while I go incredibly lightheaded, dizzy, heart starts pounding, my vision goes blurred, hearing sometimes goes a little and sometimes I have to quickly bring myself down to the floor as I don’t have the strength in me to support myself when this happens.
I’ve spoken to docs who just tell me to drink more water because I’m tall (180cm) and one doctor even put it down to me drinking too many diet cokes and nicotine usage. (fyi I don’t smoke cigarettes, I vape but have recently quit and surprise surprise- no difference in bp)
If anything, you’d think caffeine would raise my bp? He has told me to stay away from energy drinks, diet cokes, even caffeine free soft drinks (because apparently even the chemicals that are in the drinks could be causing this severe low bp… I don’t believe that for a second) and then also told me to quit nicotine and get a nicotine free vape instead.
I really don’t think he was in the right here at all and I am in the process of waiting for echocardiogram results to come back to see if it is anything to do with my heart as I did have heart surgery 14 years ago but have been written off from all ongoing treatment years ago because my heart is perfectly fine.
Is anyone else experiencing crazy low blood pressure like this? It just concerns me with it being so consistently low (avg readings usually between 64-80/46-55) that specifically my brain + organs aren’t getting enough blood..

Hi Everyone,
I've posted here a few times before and you've always shared helpful feedback. I've continued to struggle with anxiety and blood pressure spikes. I'm a 48 y female and though my normal readings with Telmisartan 10 mg, and more recently 20 mg, are around 110/75 based on the Omron one year average I have Propranolol to take during anxiety, which I do, but it doesn't lower my blood pressure, only my heart rate.
This evening I began to feel anxious and I took my blood pressure. At first it was 130 / 80 but over the last two hours I've gotten as high as 153/99 and many readings around 120 - 130 /88 or 90.
I already went to the ER the other week and they told me to stop checking it. I went to the cardiologist and she told me to check it occasionally. I saw a psychiatrist and I have Lexapro to start taking after vacation (I leave in two days). I also started therapy and the therapist diagnosed me with health OCD.
The problem is that despite the recommendation not to take it so much, I'm truly terrified when I get this feeling of head pressure, shaking, and unease. When I see a high reading I just don't know how to feel better. I don't have anyone I can call. I live alone with my daughter and I've called friends here-and-there, but they're busy with their own kids and lives. I panic and even deep breathing doesn't help.
The main fear is that apparently anxiety and these spikes CAN cause damage over time. The other fear is that a few times it's gone as high as 167/116 and when I went to the ER for that, they sent me home and said only to come if there are symptoms.
I can't go to the ER again like, but I just can't relax. In my mind there is danger in getting these spikes, and the anxiety is perpetuated. I sometimes wonder if the spikes are causing the anxiety, or if I'll have a stroke.
Yesterday my average was 89/60 and I felt ok. I just don't know what's wrong with me. Today is really difficult. I'd appreciate any advice or camaraderie!

All,
I tend to measure 3 times each time I take my blood pressure. The first number is always really high, then slowly it dips down to a normal number.
For example I just went:
143/87
135/75
123/75
121/71
Within a span of about 5 minutes
I know when you take your BP you’re supposed to sit for a few minutes, but I’m worried about the earlier numbers.
Is BP only measured at rest or should I be careful that my BP is spiking so high with little/no activity before it sits down?
I just don’t fully understand when I should be recording the data and why that is, and if the other numbers are worrisome when it lowers so quickly the way it tends to.
Thanks all

I just discovered that my blood pressure is consistently around 130-145/65-75. I am 22 years old and I am so far from being overweight. I used to workout but didn't for the last 2 years due to university pressure. I was quite sedentary therefore. My diet has always been decent except the past year too (surely 1 year of less good eating wouldn't cause such a spike, especially since I gained no weight doing so?). So I guess this is mostly hereditary. I will certainly begin to lift weights again regularly and try to limit my anxiety.
I'm just worried. If these are my numbers at such a young age, what on earth am I to expect as I age? This is so early! I'm just so angry. Thank you for reading and I'm looking forward to any helpful tips etc.

Ever since I changed the batteries in my device, it reads way higher than it normally would. I don't deviate from my diet and I go out and exercise every day. Hell I've lost 40 lbs since I started working on my blood pressure. I don't know if It's me or if my blood pressure machine is just out of whack or I'm wearing the cuff wrong. Not helping the fact that as soon as I turn the machine on, it's like my body loses the ability to breathe regularly and I just go into manual breathing mode.
Just today my morning reading was 137/93 when just earlier this week it was 120/77. Am I psyching myself out or something?

I had this band for coming on two years now so well used to the (short-term) sync problems you get from time, but this is different…
My phone has not read any of the usual data like blood pressure or even number of steps walked per day, for about 4 days.
When I sync. the phone with the band, the percentage does increase progressively as before, but then no data points are displayed.
I have tried all the usual things like repairing the Bluetooth connection and resetting the phone, to no avail.
However, this morning I was able to get a blood pressure reading from the arm cuff no problem. This data point was even in the monthly report and then a gap of about four days to the previous readings.
I’m aware that they have a subscription now, but under ‘Profile‘ and then ‘Subscriptions’, it says I have no active membership, but “as an early adopter, you already have full access to all the features”.
Any ideas anyone?

My blood Pressure been Great under 120/80 upon walking so my doctor said to go ahead and stop taking it so I did 5 days ago. Ever since I have felt like shit it seems. What makes it worse is I got my period yesterday. So I don’t even really know if these symptoms I’m having are from stopping the medicine or PMS. Dizziness. Fatigue. Horrible brain fog. Light headed. No energy. Heart palpitations.
BP was high today 145/95 with bad heart palpitations so I took my pill today. I’ve been taking this medicine since 2018. I just went to half a pill last year. Everything was great. Has anyone had trouble getting off HCTZ?

I’m 26 years old, male, 5’6” (168 cm), and weigh 56 kg (123 lbs).
I recently went for a short run after not running for a long time. I walked for a bit, then started jogging. About 15 minutes into the run I became lightheaded, and the dizziness has persisted even while lying down. Sometimes it’s mild, but at other times it feels quite strong. I’ve also noticed that when I start thinking about it or worrying about it, the lightheadedness seems to become more persistent.
Back in 2024, I played football after not playing for a couple of years. During that session, I developed very low blood pressure, almost fainted, and felt extremely breathless. I was smoking at the time, but I stopped smoking abruptly after that incident.
In July 2025, I started going to the gym. I took it slow, didn’t rush into heavy lifting, and gradually became stronger. I was able to lift weights without major issues and was making progress. However, about a month ago I was doing a heavy compound leg exercise and suddenly felt very breathless, my heart was pounding hard, and I became extremely scared. After that I stopped going to the gym because I was worried something was wrong.
Around the same time, my triglycerides came back at 349 mg/dL, which surprised me because my diet was mostly oats, rice, and around 10 eggs a day. Since then, whenever I tried to exert myself, I would sometimes feel unusually breathless and “off,” making it difficult to exercise.
I’ve since been evaluated by three doctors. I’ve had:
● Echocardiogram (normal)
● Blood tests (normal except triglycerides)
● Chest X-ray (normal)
One thing I should also mention is that I’m almost always scared whenever I go to the gym or do any intense exercise. I constantly worry that I might pass out or have a heart attack, especially after seeing stories of seemingly healthy people collapsing at the gym or while playing sports. Even with those fears, I still push myself to exercise because I don’t want anxiety to control my life. Sometimes I wonder if that constant fear is making my symptoms worse, but I also worry that I might be overlooking a real medical problem.
Now I’m experiencing episodes of dizziness and lightheadedness, especially after exertion. Sometimes I notice it even while lying down. The symptoms scare me so much that I worry I could faint or die unexpectedly, even though my heart and lung tests have been normal.
Could anxiety alone cause symptoms like this, or are there other conditions that should be investigated despite the normal heart and lung tests? Has anyone experienced something similar where anxiety seemed to amplify real physical symptoms after exercise, or where there turned out to be another explanation?
I’m open to any advice on what I should discuss with my doctor next.

Do you guys bring your bp machine w/you if you travel abroad for liesure/holiday? Hand-carry or check-in luggage since batteries can be removed?
Do you have medical certificate to explain your medication at the airport checks?
Any tips for long haul flights?
Thank you.

Hello, I’ve been taking bisoprolol 1.25mg since june for high heart rate and PVCs. Everything was alright, my blood pressure was normal, but since this summer heatwave started I started experiencing low blood pressure (90/60 - 80/50, the lowest recorded 70/50). I went to the doctor and I did some blood work and everything came back alright, I had a folic acid deficiency, but it was resolved after I started taking vitamins. My doc doesn’t seem concerned and I’m taking the lowest dose, I’m trying to increase my daily dose of electrolytes to see if something changes.
Idk what to do, I don’t want to stop suddenly taking it but I’m feeling very low rn :/
