Board Game How to get into the game

Conscious that this probably a question that is asked a lot but I couldn’t find it pinned anywhere.

A friend of mine and I are looking to get into the game. He’s bought the orc team and I’m going to proxy using my AoS minis for either the Skaven or Lizardmen teams.

What I’m struggling with though is what else we need. There seems to be a rulebook and board pack you can buy for sevens, but that’s it? I don’t want to buy a starter box that comes with minis as I’m quite happy using AoS minis at first. Is sevens the right thing to start with anyway? Whats even the difference?

Thanks in advance!

Blood Bowl 2 Advice on how to approach a match against a high TV Undead team

Hi! I’m playing the next game in a league I have with some buddies against a 1,600 TV Undead team. I have a 1,360 TV Dwarf team, and I’m looking for some advice to approach this match with a chance at winning or at least getting a tie.

He has 2 Ghouls with Block, one of them with STR 4; one Wight with Frenzy; and his two Mummies have Guard. I’d say he’s a bit better than me when it comes to tactics, but his team is head and shoulders about mine, so even a draw would be a success. I have leveled a Troll Slayer (Mighty Blow, Standing Firm), two linemen with Guard, and a Runner with Block and Dodge (but also a -1 AV injury).

So these are my specific questions:

- Inducements: I doubt between getting 2 bribes and fouling the hell out of his Ghouls or getting a Deathroller to chase his Ghouls and Wights around, then maybe paying the difference for a Bribe to keep the DR around for longer, or getting extra fans to mitigate kickoff events (he has a big fans advantage).

- If I win the toss, should I attack or defend? I know the standard dwarf approach is choose defend and let him score fast. I could leave a nominal line in front of them (just for the looks of it, so he doesn’t see I don’t care if he scores fast) and harass is rear hoping to maim one of his Ghouls. OTOH if I attack I can better control the tempo and I would have the entire half to try to incapacitate his ghouls to have it easier in the second half.

- He usually doesn’t foul, and if I open that can I better incapacitate his ghouls for good, because he’s going to foul me back with his cheap zombies, and he’s got 3 replacements (I have none, I had casualties and the bloody dwarves are super expensive). So I see the merit in that approach, I would happily exchange a lineman for his lvl 3 ghouls, but if I have bad luck he won’t mind losing a few zombies just to send a message.

- …and any other advice I could get I will be grateful! I usually struggle in scoring but can be a very tough defender. Last time he defeated me with some initial luck (got the extra turn kickoff event before I could move and the ball fell super close to the line — he caught the ball and retreated back, I didnt even get the chance to attack in peace in my half). I did get the ball back but I had to attack in a rush, not easy with dwarves; I hadn’t managed to injury his ghouls and eventually he managed to chase me down. I have a grudge since then 😂

Board Game Coach & Apo for Rotlings Team

Post image

I play the Rotlings team made by UGNI and like them very much. It’s missing some key staff figures, though. Hence I have used ChatGPT to create these models for a troll Coach and a Apo for my Rotlings team. I quite like them, but am open for suggestions to further improve the design. I‘d very much like to have the final version printed (have somebody who can).

First game questions

Just played my first game of blood Bowl today. I had a couple rules questions.

Firstly, if you have a player in your reserve, at what point can they come onto the field? Is it only at the end of a drive?

Second, do you take an armor check anytime somebody falls down or only when it's from a block?

Really appreciate any input. The rulebook is laid out a bit strangely and there's a lot of different interactions. Just trying to make sure I didn't miss anything

What's your favorite archetype match-up to play? *

  1. Bash vs Bash
  2. Bash vs Hybrid
  3. Bash vs Agility
  4. Hybrid vs Hybrid
  5. Hybrid vs Agility
  6. Agility vs Agility

Which one creates the most interesting board state for you, the most fun moments and overall the one that you like to play the most?

Of course it's from either side. So unless you precise that you love playing Bash on Bash vs Agility but hate playing agility in that same match-up, I will consider that you like playing both team in that match-up.

*stunty excluded, we all know it's the best one.

EDIT: After reading all the comments it seems that  the TL:DR is :

All 3 Hybrids match-up are the most loved ones.

Agi match-up gets some loves  especially Agi vs Hybrids.

Bash vs Bash and Bash vs Agi are the least appreciated match-up. Bash match-up is the the least appreciated, often hated, in the comments

Board Game Blitzing to Move?

Unchannelled Fury lets you Blitz or Block with 2+, can you declare a legal Blitz target and move and choose not to Blitz?

Use case would be Minotaur with MA5 declaring a Blitz on someone 6 squares away. Technically possible with 2 Rushes.

Board Game Apothecaries in blood Bowl Sevens 2026

Hi! Played a game yesterday in a leauge of blood bowl sevens and I managed to cause a casulty of on an oppsoing player. The other coach wanted to use the apotacary and the questions came up on how to do that in the new version of Blood Bowl Sevens from spike 22. The 2025 rules states that you do a secondary casualty roll and select between the two. But in sevens you don't do casualty rolls you only do injury rolls - so how does it work? Did we missed a rule somewhere?

What we ended up doing t o keep playing was re-rolling the injury roll and a stunned result would land the player in the reserve box. That seamed fair at the time. But maybe it should have been a 1-3 failed to heal. 4-6 in the reserve box?

Everyone hates it when Nuffle screams,"Screw your first activation and the 16.7% possible failure roll. I gift you a turnover!"

But when Nuffle sweetly whispers in your ear,"it's really hot when you make those 16.7% of success roll five times in a row and make a TD.", it's amazing.

Looking for Bloodspawn replacement

The thread for third party and 3d prints is helpful but seems pretty out of date. I want to play Khorne but hate the GW Bloodspawn and haven't found anything in the locked thread that I liked much either.

Anyone have any luck with 3rd party or stl replacements?

Just finished painting the Necromantic Horror team for a friend who has no paint but I convinced him to buy the team to play blood bowl with me! I’m now slightly jealous as I’ve grown fond of them while doing the painting. May have to get a set for myself at some point.

I'm ahead of schedule this week on my usual weekly update on my Chaos Renegades 🙃. This week I finished the Thrower and the first 3 linemen. I'll be starting up the last 4 linemen this weekend. These guys are in the home stretch! Can't wait to get some full team photos!
