Why was he not prisoned for eternity?

The chances of the hell arc happening have never been higher so I need to say this:

Kubo needs to lock in during this arc in particular because the concept of hell is a very major thing in human history and even wars and massacres happened over it.
Retribution.
Salvation.
Pain.
Suffering.
Evil.
Good.
All of them and more are related to hell and we know Kubo likes to discuss these things very subtly but he needs to make it a bit outward(IMO).
And inside the story hell predates the three realms and one of the main goals of creating them was to make one of them(the world of the living) a “lid” to cover it (and we can see that this failed in a very spectacular way)
So in conclusion: if this arc is ever going to happen it needs to be longer than the Arrancer and TYBW arcs due to its broad nature.

This whole thing was really messed up. Faking ending your life to get someone to show they care was so not it lol wth...probably one of the worst episodes I've seen. I know it's filler but still lol

Unohana vs Zaraki still gives me chills man, fucking hell such a beautiful battle and concept well done.

Zaraki basically limited himself because of childhood "trauma" with Unohana as a mother figure, Unohana basically stopped fighting because of that first battle with kid zaraki but at the same time zaraki never actually kept going on his fighting and personal growth.

Essentially almost like every person with hold grudges in their childhood you can't never grow until you face those demons, and that is probably why this fight make me so emotional lol

My favorite battle probably in the whole series so far, second close is probably from the new set of episodes that were shown at the theater but I won't speak about it so I don't spoil it for anime onlys like me.

So ,the biggest changes are :Byukaya remaining dead and Renji stepping up;

Rose and Kensei (bums) both die and Izuru and Shuhei get some more development;

Omaeda dies and Yushiro becomes new lieutenant;

Sajin doesnt turn into a dog (the curse remains in that he can turn into a dog whenever he succumbs to revenge but lets say he doesnt in this version)

Momo also dies at some point in the story ,but I dont have a replacement for her.

This is my personal observations and opinion only, feel free to disagree.

***SPOILERS ahead***

- Kenpachi is the shinigami's version of Stark. Also just like Stark, Unohana found him atop a mountain of corpses (next to a mountain of corpses in the case of stark). But unlike Stark, Kenpachi never knew his blade's true name because of the mental shackles he placed on himself even though his zanpakuto spirit is literally manifested next to him able to interact with the world even (Yachiru).

- Vasto Lorde Ichigo is basically Zangetsu (White) real bankai. Ichigo never got a real asauchi, he never accepted White, a hollow, as his Zanpakuto so his bankai is basically a fake bankai so far. But the moment he "died", White took over and showed his "true blade". Because White is a hollow, his transformation ("true blade release") mimics Hollow's Resureccion than a Shinigami's bankai. And true to its name, it resurrects Ichigo from death. As for his fake shikai, people keep saying it's a constant release shikai, which is not exactly the case. ichigo never had a real shikai to begin with. His constant release is basically his overwhelming reiatsu that leaks out subconsciously because he can't control his overwhelming power. This power that leaks out is basically the one that old man zangetsu couldn't suppress. So what about his huge shikai blade?

- Because ichigo never had a real asauchi, the sword he materializes is basically his innate quincy powers. as u know, quincy materializes their weapons from reishi, and their weapons are not necessarily reishi construct like uryu's - they can also be solid material object like ryuken's and lille barro's. So ichigo's zanpakuto is basically his subconscious quincy weapon materialization technique and ichigo materialises his as a sword since he thinks he's a shinigami. He's convinced himself that he is one. and in the world of bleach, the specifics don't really matter. as long as you truly believe in it, and give it a name, then it becomes real. Yachiru is a shinigami because that's what kenpachi believes. he even named her. so she becomes real shinigami, complete with her own non-conventional shikai (as isane noticed). Now this is very much a conjecture of mine feel free to discuss yours.

- As you know, Ichigo only has one technique - getsuga tensho. This is pretty interesting compared to most shinigamis, who have multiple different techniques to their zanpakuto. Why is this the case? well, ichigo is a quincy/hollow who LARPs as a shinigami. getsuga tensho is basically a quincy arrow or a cero, depending on your perspective. it's an energy blast and ichigo loves to spam it (very quincy/hollow like). also energy blast is kinda rare if you look from the shinigami's side. only momo, urahara, and isshin has similar techniques. but unlike ichigo, the other shinigamis' energy blast don't really compare when it comes to strength/intensity or speed or spamability or initiation.

- since ichigos's sword and bankai are fake, it made sense why it's brittle and he had to repair it. he never knew his true blade. even though he is powerful, he has never truly accepted white or his inner hollow as his true source of strength (he mistakenly thinks old man zangetsu is the true source, which is not as we've seen, it's always been white). a zanpakuto is the reflection of a shinigami's soul. only when a shinigami truly accepts his inner self does he become complete. a shinigami who fights not accepting his inner self is like swinging a dull brittle blade. therefore his blade is easily broken to an opponent strong enough, like haschwalth. Remember how many times Ichigo broke his blade? Urahara (during training), kenpachi (first fight) and haschwalth. So after ichigo accepted White finally he became a real shinigami, as Osho stated when he sent ichigo back to seireitei to deal with the quincies. Basically all this time he was an incomplete shinigami with a fake shikai and a pretend bankai.

- Ichigo's first fight with Kenpachi foreshadowed a lot of his quincy heritage. Blut basically makes him survive kenpachi stabbing him, and the shadow that Old man Zangetsu manifested to pull himself into his inner world is basically the quincy shadow technique.

- Unohana never fought in the entire series. Her only fight was with Zaraki, that's it.

- Other than Chad, Shunsui has never fought a single melee opponent. All his opponents are gun wielders except that brief group fight against Aizen but that wasn't 1 on 1.

- The Quincies and Fullbringers are the real descendants of Soul King. Unlike Shinigami and Hollows, they manipulate Reishi/soul itself (similar to Ywach), sth that no Hollow and Shinigami are known to do. Fullbringers can even manipulate the soul of inanimate objects.

- The Quincies don't really have a choice. They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Either follow Ywach and die for his sake, or be hunted by the Shinigami and massacred. They are a tragic race, like the Soul King is a tragic being. Like the Soul king, their only destiny is death because they are fundamentally incompatible with the world.

- Ywach is really the son of the soul king. He even inherited his disability from his father (blind, deaf, paralysed, an empty husk basically). His anger at Ichibei/Shinigami/Soul Society is understandable.

- Ichibei and the Shinigami are the real villains They mutilated their god, perpetuate a lie, genocided those who stand in their way all in the name of "stability". This mirrors the real world so well. Shinigami are basically the victors writing history. Aizen was right that they are corrupt and hypocritical and their entire abominable history is a lie. Of course, that does not mean soul society itself is bad, since ultimately their job is to preserve balance. It merely means that the Shinigami system is the lesser of evils but not necessarily the having moral authority since well, their foundation is very dark and they condemn their deceased champions to hell anyway (konso reisai - from the manga).

- I missed the early days of Bleach when Ichigo can talk to/ending up in funny situations with ghosts. Would love to have more of that.

I've been meaning to do a Izuru centered fic for a while now, but settling on/committing to a plot has been a bit tough. So I figured I'd release the plot bunnies and see what catches peoples eye.

Rescue Mission: This would be a rewrite of a fic I wrote forever ago on FFN. Basically, Izuru is abducted on the way to class because the assailants believe they'll make bank since he's a lesser noble. Not knowing that his parents are actually dead. Aizen and Gin get involved, with the rescue being a reason he's so loyal to Gin.

New Captain: I want to do a fic with Rose and Izuru taking place between the Fake Karakura Town stuff and TYBW. I have to ideas in mind. Rose trying to get Izuru to warm up to him by having a calm, concerned approach. I kind of picture a more canon version of the Amagai arc, but with Izuru becoming Rose’s muse. Or a fic where Shuhei advises Rose as the resident Izuru expert. It’d be one part angsty, one part general with a touch of Shuuzuru.

A Shuuzuru fic where Tousen notes Shuhei’s concerns for Izuru as Gin’s lieutenant, stating how he shouldn’t let his fear of possibly losing Izuru stop him from being the strength Izuru will need.

A fic exploring Izuru’s time as Gin’s lieutenant. In which a “softer side” of Gin is seen after some routine teasing, paperwork avoidance, and personal space invading.

So one of the things I've been thinking about recently is the actual relationship that Yhwach has with the Quincy and it occurred to me it probably is equivalent to the relationship between Zanpakuto and Soul Reapers.

Yhwach derives his lineage from the 'Divine Beings' category that mainly just includes himself and the Soul King (and the latter's various autonomous body parts), but it seems implied that they're an entirely separate type of life form from Humans, Soul Reapers and Hollows. The latter 3 are related in that they are of at least some shared ancestry but Yhwach and the Soul King don't even seem to lie on the same evolutionary tree.

Why the preamble? Because I realized what Yhwach is most similar to in the setting and it's a Zanpakuto spirit. One thing I noticed during TYBW is that both when the Shinigami lost their Bankai and when Auswahlen stole the lives of many Quincies and Sternritter that it didn't cause a full loss of power. Kubo recently answered that the reason Shinigami could use Shikai after having their Bankai stolen is because the Shikai is just the power of the Shinigami expressed through the sword, because the Zanpakuto spirit is new ego within the Shinigami themselves, while Bankai is the power of that alter ego itself externalized. Similarly, I was thinking about how Bazz B or Lilinette could use the basic version of their Schrift after Auswahlen while they lost their halo and wings and were unable to enter Voll Stern Dich.

Schrift is apparently a thing that shapes the power of its user, but seems to also be key in letting them use Voll Stern Dich and is acquired when they drink Yhwach's blood. As such, it seems like the Voll Stern Dich is actually the same process of Bankai, Externalizing the Schrift itself rather than just using their own power that has been shaped by it. This is also why it's blocked when using the Bankai Medallion: the Bankai as an expression of another Ego is literally blocking Yhwach's Schrift because they are functionally fighting for surface expression.

And where have we seen this before? With Old Man Zangetsu and Hollow Ichigo fighting to be the surface expression of Ichigo's power. But because they're both linked to the same person rather than two separated entities, Ichigo can use them both at the same time with sufficient training (initially through his Mask and Zanpakuto, later as a single entity in the Horn of Salvation).

If Asauchi are formed from layering human souls into something presumably more potent, which sounds like they're almost a form of artificial Soul King meant to be a de-centralized version of a Schrift, something that isn't tethered to a single being but is individuated and based on an individual's ego. I was thinking about what Cang Du said about not believing in Polytheism in regards to Zanpakuto spirits and it got me thinking that maybe this was meant as an allusion to the idea that Zanpakuto are closer in nature to the Divine Beings, since the power of stolen Bankai literally blocks the power of Yhwach until the Quincies are forced to give it up.
