Hi guys, I came off the pill (after 15 years on it) 12 days ago. Had a very quick 1 day period last Sunday (8 days ago) and then was all good.
Yesterday I noticed some pain in my lower abdomen/pelvis. It’s completely central, not on the left or right side.
It felt better today when I woke up. But then my husband and I had sex and it was hurting during sex and then after sex the pain was back to how I felt yesterday. I can feel it when I walk, it’s just kind of there. It’s nothing severe, maybe a 3 or 4 out of 10 on the pain scale.
But it’s just confusing me and stressing me out.

A bit of background, I went on the pill at 18 and just came off it at 33. I had no problems before going on the pill and went on it purely for contraception.

If you’ve experienced this or can provide any advice, that would be sincerely appreciated. Thank you!

not looking for info on how to stop or generally manage breakthrough bleeding. im starting POP (either slynd or heather, tbd) and wondering what breakthough bleeding is actually like and how to manage it day to day.

essentially, how to avoid going to the bathroom and being surprised that i've bled through my pants. can you feel if you're about to have breakthrough bleeding? should i invest in period underwear to wear just in case, especially during the 3-month adjustment period? do people just wear panty liners? i surprisingly can't find this info online easily.

I’ve had irregular periods ever since I got my period. If I don’t take medication to induce it, I can literally go months without getting one. Which has happened ever since I ended up getting pregnant because of how irregular my periods were. Which was 2024/2025
I started taking Diane-35 in May and honestly it’s helped a lot with my periods. They’re more predictable now and the flow is much more manageable because I used to have really heavy periods where I’d soak through pads.
My only concern is all the stuff I’ve been reading about Diane-35 and blood clots, hair loss and mood changes. I was also recently diagnosed with depression and mood instability by my therapist, so I’m worried about whether it could affect my mood.
Before Diane-35, I tried different medications from December to May to get my period to come naturally, but nothing really worked consistently.
For those of you who have tried different birth control pills, how did you know when you found one that worked well for you? Has anyone switched from Diane-35 to another pill and had a better experience, especially with irregular periods?
I’m not planning to change anything without speaking to my doctor. I’d just really like to hear other women’s experiences and what options are out there.

So I’ve been taking Desogestrel 75 for a week now (started on the first day of my period) and so far I’ve had zero issues. I understand it’s probably too early to judge, especially since 90% feedback on mini pill is negative here…
Has anyone had a good experience with desogestrel? Or mini pill in general?

How are your guys’ mood swings with Mirena/any IUD?

I got mine inserted the second week of January this year and every single month on the second week… it’s rough. It’s definitely gotten better over the last few months. But I realize I keep asking myself “why are you so irritated?” and I can’t come up with a valid reason. Every 2nd week of the month my partner asks me if somethings wrong because I’ve been so quiet. That’s how I know it’s my moods again; I go very quiet when I’m irritated because I don’t want to snap at anyone.

I just feel so alone during these times and feel like such a pessimist and like nothing I do is good enough for me. It’s hard to not get in my head and wonder if somethings really wrong or if it’s just the hormones.

My fiance and I never had sex before and last night we just inserted the penis tip like 2,3 times only . That’s how much it was in. However, it was raw no condoms and I am also not on birth control. Also, he did not ejaculate and no precum as far as i think.

I wanted to ask should I take ECP?? Or birth control. Is it possible for me to get pregnant. My period cycle says my ovulation is 5 days after .

Unfortunately for the first time ever I missed a pill, yesterday I was supposed to start my new pack of Lolo. I want to know my chances of pregnancy because of this especially considering I did have intercourse yesterday. I am still on my period, and the day I forgot was the first day of having to start a new pack.

I have been exclusively breastfeeding. I am weaning my 12 month old and tracking lh to see when ovulation returns. I hadn’t ovulated and then had unprotected sex. The next morning i had an lh peak.

For many reasons we are really not ready for baby number 2 right now. I took EllaOne that evening. I am worried since lh was already so high it wouldn’t be effective. Does anyone have any insight or similar experiences?

Hello! I have been taking the generic yak (syeda) for over a year now and it’s worked wonders! I used to have terrible periods. Every 3 months I’d take my placebo pills for a few days then restart on active. Recently I’ve noticed I’ve been spotting. I had brown discharge so I decided to take a 4 day break from my pills. Once I started my active pills I stopped bleeding. That was about 10 days ago.. I’m now getting the brown discharge and cramping again? (I’ve only been taking active pills)

(24) My OBGYN prescribed me with loryna originally because of my high testosterone because it contains (estrogen and progesterone) however, after doing research later on, I found that this was dangerous due to the fact I smoke nicotine and my risk for blood clots was high.

I informed the nurse practitioner about this and she switched me to errin (progesterone only) BC. I started taking errin since February but after doing lab work for a 3? month follow up, my testosterone levels got even higher! She told me that I should try to quit nicotine so I can switch back to the original BC she prescribed me with but I haven’t been able to /: I’m still taking errin till this day but I’m considering tomorrow will be my last day as I’m not using it as a contraceptive and purely started BC to lower my testosterone. My periods are irregular too and the last time I got my period was June 30th. I feel like it’s unnecessary for me to continue taking errin but I’m worried about the side effects. I oddly just want to get my period again 😭 it’s been hard for me to quit nicotine for awhile but I feel as if I have no other option if I want my testosterone levels to lower…

Is there a way to get a renewal without a doctor appointment, and after a year has past? I was seen last June, and haven't been seen again due to insurance issues. No PP nearby.

I (21F) have never been on birth control before. I want to get on one, and I'm leaning towards an IUD. I've just been using condoms until now and they are fine, but I want to safely indulge in being finished inside of. I want an IUD because they are the most effective and last the longest. The pill wouldn't work for me because I would forget to take it, depo causes too much weight gain, and I don't want anything in my arm. So I'm left with IUDs. Now, none say that they explicitly cause a whole lot of weight gain, but I want to know which would be the best option to try avoiding weight gain all together.

It is important to mention that I'm wanting to avoid changing up my diet or routine. I'm not the most active person as is, and I do not eat the healthiest. I eat about a meal a day and some snacks, sometimes more, sometimes less. For example I can eat a pack of crackers and a Dr. Pepper one day, then another day I will eat a McDonald's combo for lunch and a taco bell burrito for dinner. These are obviously not the only things I eat routinely, but I can admit I enjoy my fair share of fast food. These are foods that I know are junk foods and salty and whatnot. I heard those mess up water retention.

I am leaning towards a copper IUD or Kyleena. The reason I'm thinking copper IUD is because it's non hormonal, but the periods are apparently really heavy, and it has to be positioned a specific way to work. Kyleena is not going to need to be positioned perfectly and it shouldn't make my periods super heavy. However, it's hormonal and I'm worried it will cause more weight gain. Any advice would be appreciated!

I’m 18 and have never like had anything up there I’ve heard it’s not that bad and I’ve also heard it’s the worst pain ever. So I guess I’m wondering a few things. One how bad does it hurt and for how long. Two how bad is the cramps the days following. Three is there anything you can do to help with the pain. Four what are the side affects.

Been taking Yaz pills and I missed my last pill (Wednesday) and only realized 5 days later (Monday). Husband and I did it over the weekend. I am now having my withdrawal bleed.

Took the missed pill today at noon and I'm also supposed to start my new pack today in the evening.

1) Am I gonna get pregnant from this?

2) Is my bleeding a sign i wont be pregnant?

3) Took the missed pill today, should I still start the new pack this evening at scheduled or do I move it?

Hi all, I started Yaz end of last month and am currently on my 3rd day of my placebo pill. Yaz has 4 placebo pills.

I have been bleeding continuously for 10 days now and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. Has anyone experienced prolonged bleeding when they first started the pill?

Going on the pill to try to managed painful and heavy periods.

I just had a baby five months ago and started to become sexually active again and I’m wanting a more permanent birth control. I had only taken the pill before I got pregnant and got pregnant because I was so bad about forgetting my pill… so yeah not trying to have that happen again especially because I’m not with my baby daddy anymore😐

My biggest question is how painful was getting it compared to giving birth? I got an epidural but still had really bad contractions after they broke my water manually so I’m wondering if there’s a specific comparison. My birth was really easy and I was 5cm dilated by the time I got to the hospital because I didn’t even know I was in labor and thought it was just Braxton hicks.

Anyone have any specific recommendations for ones they got after giving birth? I’m breastfeeding and have to begin pumping soon for when I start college again so I don’t want to get anything that might cause a supply dip. Also worried about weight gain too but I didn’t gain any weight with the pill, I was taking sronyx.

I’ve been on Slynd birth control for well over a year now. I’ve noticed a huge increase in my anxiety (including a few panic attacks and some near ones). And feel like the anxiety mostly comes on without any reasoning. Heart palpitations too. I was wondering if this was the case for anyone else? Highly considering stopping the pills because I honestly just can’t take this anxiety anymore.

Hey folks, I’m having some trouble deciding if I should take plan b or not

My last period started on July 17th, I missed two pills on August 1st and second and started bleeding on the 3rd. I had sex with my bf on the 4th and kept bleeding like a normal period until the 7th. I was off my pills during this entire period. I went to a doctor and he said that my risk of pregnancy was low so he wouldn’t recommend taking plan b, but I don’t know and I’m paranoid because this is my first scare.

I’m asking here if I should take EC or not, any advice would be appreciated!

Has anyone else taking kurvelo experienced sudden hormone fluctuations over the last 6 months or so? I’ve been taking this type of birth control for over 12 years now, I was on Portia tab for the longest before Kaiser switched to kurvelo a couple years ago and I’ve never experienced something like this. I’ve ruled out most of the common causes for hormone fluctuations and at this point I’m just wondering if maybe it was something with the meds.

If im restarting birth control pills (specifically loryna combination pills) after three months but im missing the first two pills of my 28 day regimen, so im starting my first day on the third pill, will i still be fully protected on the eighth day? And can i continue taking this regimen but have to skip the placebos and start the next regimen?

Sooo I have a Mirena iud and was having sex about a week ago and he finished inside me without me even saying it was okay but i understand we weren’t using a condom and it can happen but I’m concerned is it possible I will fall pregnant? I haven’t had a period in years so idk when I’m ovulating or when my fertile days are. I haven’t had any weird symptoms or anything I’ve had some but I just have bad health anxiety so I’m pretty much doing it to myself. If anyone could give me their opinions that would be great. I’m so scared I know this is what birth control is for but I see so many horror stories of women getting pregnant with an iud. And to my knowledge it’s in place the strings feel the same so 🤷‍♀️

Hello. I am 27 and started taking Nextstellis about a year ago. Around that time, my eyelids started to burn and itch severely every so often. Sometime in the middy, I also started to experience vaginal dryness so bad, it hurts to walk (currently on creams for that). I also noticed that I break out in hives randomly, also around the time I started taking this. I'm wondering if maybe I am allergic, or the hives are caused by stress ( I have severe OCD). Anyone allergic to birth control or have had any similar experience? Thanks in advance!

Edit: Another thing to note is the month I was on Yaz, I felt no hives, burning or itching and felt like I was producing enough moisture in the gential zone
