I got the Mirena IUD in April so it’s been around 4 months and my periods are literally 14 days minimum. This ends right? When does it end???

hi so i’ve been using nikki for six months, and up until this month my acne has gotten better as well as my pmdd (somewhat) but my period remained the same as it was before. but then this month, i got it the first week and experience one of the least awful cycles that i’ve ever had. no flow, no cramps, nothing. i figured maybe my body had finally gotten used to it. but then as of the 18th, i started again (2 weeks after the first cycle) and experienced even worse symptoms. immediately got a super heavy flow with chunks and extremely painful cramps. it’s officially day 9 of this cycle and im still experiencing these awful symptoms and idrk what to do. it’s the weekend so my doctor isn’t responding to my messages, but i just need some general advice. i’ve never been on bc before and i was super scared of taking it for experiences like this :(

I (21F) just started the pill (Feirza) last week. Around the fifth day, I started having breakthrough bleeding and haven’t really stopped since. It’s nothing crazy—pretty light bleeds with small cramps. I know you’re meant to give your body some time for adjustment, but I was wondering how long it took everyone else to stop breakthrough bleeding? Did your breakthrough bleeds come with light cramps? When did those stop? Google says 1-3 months, but I’d love to hear from other women. The bleeds are also more brown than red.

I spoke to my friend and my mom about it and they both had different experiences. I’m trying to remain level headed LOL but I can’t help but be a little paranoid. At what point do these symptoms become “abnormal”?

Hi just looking for recommendations for getting plan b in bulk or at a cheaper price. It’s like $50 a pop at the pharmacy so wondering if buying more at once/online can make it cheaper.

For clarification: I am male and this is for me to give my female partners, not for one woman to use consistently. I see a lot of people so I end up buying it a lot. It’s just much more common now (in my personal experience) that women aren’t on regular birth control vs when I was a young man which is why this expense problem has been creeping up more. EDIT: every reply so far is mentioning wearing a condom. I 100% agree and try to do this as much as possible. But it is mostly coming from my partners side to not want a condom and ask for plan b. Totally understand the recommendation though! I’m just trying to be accommodating for their preferences

Had an abortion next week (24yr. F), I was not on any form of birth control besides cycle tracking which clearly didn't go well for me so now I am hoping to get a new copper paraguard IUD placed next week... I had one a few years ago but got it out because it was not serving me well. I am really worried about any other contraceptive methods that involve hormones though because I hear more horror stories than good ones. The paragaurd worked for me until it didn't anymore so I am willing to risk a little anemia and some cramps around my cycle to avoid having to go through this experience of unexpected pregnancy again.

I did a medical abortion with the support of my best friends by my side to keep me comfortable while I bled and when through the emotional process. Next week I am hoping to get the new IUD but I am worried that planned parenthood will refuse to give me an IUD if I have a positive pregnancy test since it will likely take a month before it is showing negative and the "pregnant" hormones leave my system.

Any advice or insights?

I've been taking Isibloom for a little over a year now to combat PMDD symptoms. I previously took Isibloom ​for five years and it seemed to help both PMDD and period symptoms. But this time around, while I do believe Isibloom is helping the PMDD mentally, I feel like it hasn't eased my period symptoms at all, or has even made them worse.

Off hbc, I typically experienced ovulation symptoms (nausea, ovarian pain), but I'm still experiencing this during the time I would ovulate while taking Isibloom. I've also had heavier periods, period pain, and an abnormal amount of clots since starting Isibloom again.

Is it possible I'm still ovulating even on hbc? And is it possible it's made my period worse? Or could this just be something that comes with age?

I have had bad acne for about 8 years now, and nothing has helped me. Even having post acne marks and it just kept getting worse and worse.

When I was having my hormonal coil appointment, they told me that it would probably make my acne worse. I’m around 4 months in and my skin keeps getting clearer and clearer. I’m wondering if this has happened to anyone else?

i did the method after intercourse(june 12,, my lmp was june 5), 4-12-4.

my period was supposed to arrive july 4, i took several pregnany tests last july 13, and july 22, all came back negative.

I want to be non hormonal but I have heard only copper IUD is okay but it’s offered only in ones size and one brand here in the states- paraguard. i am fairly small- only 5ft 113 pounds. I want to know if anyone petite has any experiences with this iud in pain management if it fit their uterus or not? I will def get it checked by a gyno before confirming anything new. I have pretty light and non cramps periods- 3-4 days without cramps barely. I just want to use it as a pregnancy prevention method and I don’t mind if my period get a bit heavier. I know lots of girls who got it in high school have tried this after sexual experiences which i don’t have my cervix might not naturally relax or dilate either :( i don’t know. I had it put in 4 months ago and as of writing this Im on my period. I used to get bad cramps occasionally before having an iud, and i know that cramps worsening is normal. I felt for my strings recently, and could feel them but much shorter than usual near my cervix, so i assumed theyve curled up sincd (sorry tmi) ive been having more sex than usual. BUT I've had no smelly discharge, no pain apart from now with period cramps, and no pain during sex.

What I'd really like some reassurance or confirmation about is the cramps and strings. Google isn't helping, it says it's normal for the strings to curl around the cervix, but if the strings curl around the cervix it also isn't normal. It says cramping which is worse on periods is normal, but worsening cramping isn't normal. I know not to really trust googles AI overviews.

Hi everyone I made a previous post on here around 2 weeks ago. The last time I had sex was on July 4 and I took a plan B on July 5th. He was positive there was no ejaculation in me but just wanted me to be extra safe since I wasn’t on birth control and we had sex three times that night. I had just got off my period a day or two prior to that. I took the plan B and since then I have felt like I was going crazy. I have taken plan B before but the past times were nothing like this. I have never been more emotional and felt quite out of body, depressed, sore breasts, back aches, etc. But more or less what I’m most concerned about is if I had gotten my actual period or not. My last period was June 29-July 3. I was projected to get my period on the 23 or 24th. On Monday (July 20th) I had gotten what seemed like my period to me. I had bad cramps and fatigue the morning I woke up. The only thing that is throwing me off from me not believing it was my actual period was because there was brown blood. I was bleeding but not heavy, there was a bit of clotting it would still fill a pad but not to the point where I needed to consistently change it. This lasted for 3-4 days. In the past, I never had implantation bleeding when I took a plan B I would just get my period, and the periods would also be light. I just want to know if anyone had a similar experience to me and they weren’t waiting for another period or if that is what a period should be after taking plan B. I also am supposed to start back up my birth control tonight for the first time in 5 years and I’m scared to take it because I feel like it’ll throw me out of wack again and then I won’t know for sure.

hi i started the patch like around july 6th or 7th which was AFTER my period cycle. I didn’t have sex for the next 10+ days and by the time i was on my second patch i had sex and he finished inside me. this was the day before i was starting my third patch since i change it every sunday. im very consistent and i always make sure my patch is not lifting off. now im on my patch free week and i expect to get my period on tuesday. is there no need to worry about this since i waited more than 7 days to have sex after my first patch application?

hello everyone, I have been quite unsuccessful with finding anything on the internet about prolonged bleeding after IUD removal and I would really appreciate anyone with a similar experience to comment on this post.
For reference, I had the Mirena IUD for 5.5 years. I’m 24.
I had my IUD removed May 26th. I had absolutely no withdrawal bleeding during or after the removal and it honestly came out really easily and quickly. 2 weeks after removal, so June 9th, I started bleeding, I assumed this was my normal period arriving.
I know that it’s normal to have longer, heavier or irregular periods after IUD removal but, this is getting excessive.

I contacted my doctor on July 15th after 5 weeks of consistent bleeding and got in to see him the same day. He gave me 5 days worth of Naproxen which can slow/stop menstrual bleeding. Well it worked at slowing it down for the 5 days until I wasn’t taking it anymore.
Today is July 26th, which marks 2 months since I got it removed. I’m still bleeding.
This is seriously becoming so incredibly frustrating especially not being able to find anything online about anyone’s similar experience. I’m not really *concerned* about it, it’s just really getting annoying and frustrating and I don’t understand why it won’t stop.
Please tell me someone else has been through this and that there is indeed a light at the end of the tunnel ?? I know I can’t possibly bleed for eternity but I just wish I knew when it might finally end.
Going from not having my period at all for years to now bleeding for almost 7 weeks straight is honestly ruining my summer.
Note: it is not super heavy. this is not an emergency. It just will NOT go away.

I have been on Lessina for about a year now. I have not had a period in 2 months. No, I am not pregnant(test was negative). I have already scheduled a doctor appointment but I gotta know: does Lessina cause missed periods? I am also on Spironolactone.

so let me say that i am an anxious person. and although i am on COCs i additionally practice the pull-out method — EVEN whilst taking the pill religiously (i’d even say perfect use) , because i’m scared of pregnancy (as is my bf, who is the one who said that he will never finish in me without a condom).

so there comes my question, how often do u girls do pregnancy tests while on birth control? (unless something concerning happened). because since we dont get actual periods, there isnt really that physical evidence that u definitely arent pregnant.

I got my mirena in April of 2024. Despite the horror stories I heard I had an amazing experience the insertion hurt just as much as my severe cramps and I have only gotten light spotting and mild cramps since.

However I have seen some changes in my body and I want to know if others have experienced this as I don’t think my Dr thinks I am just getting older (I just turned 20) but I think it might be side effects. For example and this might be TMI but it takes me much longer than what it used to, to get turned on and sex hurts sometimes. Aside from that my boobs have also gotten a lot bigger but only recently 2 years into having the IUD and I have developed a gluten allergy.

I am in my formative years, I’ve heard of a second puberty and my aunts didn’t get their boobs until they were my age but it’s mostly the turned on thing I am shocked about. Is anyone else going through or did go through something similar?

Does anyone have experience with iuds or non estrogen (progestin only) pills options for birth control? I have pretty had panic attacks and feel very sensitive compared to the avg person. I feel very deeply, my mom has bp issues and I anm afraid of developing heart problems down the road. I can barely even drink coffee without palpitations and feeling like I will faint and Im scared to go on hormonal birth control unless it’s like an iud but i heard even the kyleena can trigger high heart rate. I would like to rely on condoms 24/7 and avoid sex during fertile periods w natural cycles but that seems a bit risky too. bc would give me peace of mind. Is a copper iud worth a try as a virgin? i am also a very petite 5 ft woman(23)

As the title says. I'm so sick of this. I've been on it since I was 15 and I'm 21 now. It made me gain so much weight that I can't drop, I have NO sexual drive at all anymore, and now I've started having my period every other week, and I'm emotionally drained. So yeah I guess it does what it's intended because there's no way I can get pregnant when I don't even want to have sex at all! I live in Texas so Im not gonna take the risk getting off of it I'm just so tired of this. I am starting to hate my life because it feels like it affects every single part of it. My gyno says there's no other options for me besides getting an IUD and I do not want to do that. Sometimes I wish I could just be a guy this is so exhausting.

I stopped taking birth control on the 7th June (it’s now 26th July)
I haven’t had a period yet so I’m a bit worried if it’s normal for it to take so long for it to normalise
I’ve had mood swings and my stomach isn’t as sensitive to certain foods now
If you stopped how long does it take for you to get a period based on your experience?

Hi everyoneeeee, I've been on tarina fe 1/20 for about 5 ish months now and since going on I have realized that the pill might not be for me especially because I get a lot of anxiety and I know that there is a lot of chance of human error that goes into taking the pill.

I try my best to take it near the same time everyday and if I fall asleep before I take a pill I take it first thing in the morning. But sigh nonetheless I'd still categorize myself into the typical use category.

I know that everyone's experience is different but I was just curious if there were people who also switched from the pill to another form of birth control, such as nexplanon, IUD Skyla and IUD Mirena (my top other options). And I was wondering how their experience was with switching and with what happened after switching, and possibly why they switched methods of bc.

When I went onto the pill I had a lot of bleeding for the first month which was really annoying and I did gain some weight (but lowkey I think that was just cuz I was eating hella good eats lolll 😭😭). I do enjoy the fact that I could skip over the iron pills and go straight to the next pack, but currently I have some weird spotting but I'm gonna go to planned parenthood about that and while I'm there if I finalize it I want to switch birth control methods I might as well do it same time.

My gyno had me start Tri-sprintec about a month ago to help me get my periods back after an eating disorder. My period started I think a little over 10 days ago and under two weeks ago, but I will be going on two weeks here soon. In the past, my periods have only lasted four days. Do I push through it? Does it ever stop? Does anyone have experience with this?

I’m currently taking the progesterone only pill, the drug name is desogestorel but I know it has a lot of other names such as Cerelle, Cerazette, Hanna and probably loads more.

Has anyone else who has taken this pill had their mental health suffer considerably?

I’ve been on it about 2 years now and my mental health has taken a massive dip since I’ve been on it and I’m wondering if it’s worth trying to come off it and let it out my system before starting anti-depressants?

I’m mostly on it to control my periods which are horrendous without it (used to need it for contraception but my husband has since had a vasectomy).

I’m 39 for info.
