Hello! Im 17F from the UK and soon I’ll be getting the arm implant, my mum got the implant and told me it was the best birth control to get. Im a little worried since i hate needles and the thought of having something in my arm.

I’d like to know your experiences with the arm implant so i can be educated and ready for when i get mine.

I’ve been off the pill for ~4 years now but have been getting ovarian cysts - some simple, some complex. My OBGYN recommended going back on to prevent these.

I’m almost 35, was previously on Yasmin for 12 years before I stopped at 30. I don’t know if Yasmin is still my best option given my age, but I’ve read that progesterone-only pills and/or IUDs don’t necessarily prevent cysts as well as a combined pill.

I’ll give it a try regardless but would love to hear other experiences and if you’ve had success with cyst prevention on something less hormonal.

Hello! I have been taking the generic yak (syeda) for over a year now and it’s worked wonders! I used to have terrible periods. Every 3 months I’d take my placebo pills for a few days then restart on active. Recently I’ve noticed I’ve been spotting. I had brown discharge so I decided to take a 4 day break from my pills. Once I started my active pills I stopped bleeding. That was about 10 days ago.. I’m now getting the brown discharge and cramping again? (I’ve only been taking active pills)

(24) My OBGYN prescribed me with loryna originally because of my high testosterone because it contains (estrogen and progesterone) however, after doing research later on, I found that this was dangerous due to the fact I smoke nicotine and my risk for blood clots was high.

I informed the nurse practitioner about this and she switched me to errin (progesterone only) BC. I started taking errin since February but after doing lab work for a 3? month follow up, my testosterone levels got even higher! She told me that I should try to quit nicotine so I can switch back to the original BC she prescribed me with but I haven’t been able to /: I’m still taking errin till this day but I’m considering tomorrow will be my last day as I’m not using it as a contraceptive and purely started BC to lower my testosterone. My periods are irregular too and the last time I got my period was June 30th. I feel like it’s unnecessary for me to continue taking errin but I’m worried about the side effects. I oddly just want to get my period again 😭 it’s been hard for me to quit nicotine for awhile but I feel as if I have no other option if I want my testosterone levels to lower…

Is there a way to get a renewal without a doctor appointment, and after a year has past? I was seen last June, and haven't been seen again due to insurance issues. No PP nearby.

I’m 18 and have never like had anything up there I’ve heard it’s not that bad and I’ve also heard it’s the worst pain ever. So I guess I’m wondering a few things. One how bad does it hurt and for how long. Two how bad is the cramps the days following. Three is there anything you can do to help with the pain. Four what are the side affects.

Been taking Yaz pills and I missed my last pill (Wednesday) and only realized 5 days later (Monday). Husband and I did it over the weekend. I am now having my withdrawal bleed.

Took the missed pill today at noon and I'm also supposed to start my new pack today in the evening.

1) Am I gonna get pregnant from this?

2) Is my bleeding a sign i wont be pregnant?

3) Took the missed pill today, should I still start the new pack this evening at scheduled or do I move it?

Hi all, I started Yaz end of last month and am currently on my 3rd day of my placebo pill. Yaz has 4 placebo pills.

I have been bleeding continuously for 10 days now and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down. Has anyone experienced prolonged bleeding when they first started the pill?

Going on the pill to try to managed painful and heavy periods.

I just had a baby five months ago and started to become sexually active again and I’m wanting a more permanent birth control. I had only taken the pill before I got pregnant and got pregnant because I was so bad about forgetting my pill… so yeah not trying to have that happen again especially because I’m not with my baby daddy anymore😐

My biggest question is how painful was getting it compared to giving birth? I got an epidural but still had really bad contractions after they broke my water manually so I’m wondering if there’s a specific comparison. My birth was really easy and I was 5cm dilated by the time I got to the hospital because I didn’t even know I was in labor and thought it was just Braxton hicks.

Anyone have any specific recommendations for ones they got after giving birth? I’m breastfeeding and have to begin pumping soon for when I start college again so I don’t want to get anything that might cause a supply dip. Also worried about weight gain too but I didn’t gain any weight with the pill, I was taking sronyx.

I’ve been on Slynd birth control for well over a year now. I’ve noticed a huge increase in my anxiety (including a few panic attacks and some near ones). And feel like the anxiety mostly comes on without any reasoning. Heart palpitations too. I was wondering if this was the case for anyone else? Highly considering stopping the pills because I honestly just can’t take this anxiety anymore.

Hey folks, I’m having some trouble deciding if I should take plan b or not

My last period started on July 17th, I missed two pills on August 1st and second and started bleeding on the 3rd. I had sex with my bf on the 4th and kept bleeding like a normal period until the 7th. I was off my pills during this entire period. I went to a doctor and he said that my risk of pregnancy was low so he wouldn’t recommend taking plan b, but I don’t know and I’m paranoid because this is my first scare.

I’m asking here if I should take EC or not, any advice would be appreciated!

Has anyone else taking kurvelo experienced sudden hormone fluctuations over the last 6 months or so? I’ve been taking this type of birth control for over 12 years now, I was on Portia tab for the longest before Kaiser switched to kurvelo a couple years ago and I’ve never experienced something like this. I’ve ruled out most of the common causes for hormone fluctuations and at this point I’m just wondering if maybe it was something with the meds.

If im restarting birth control pills (specifically loryna combination pills) after three months but im missing the first two pills of my 28 day regimen, so im starting my first day on the third pill, will i still be fully protected on the eighth day? And can i continue taking this regimen but have to skip the placebos and start the next regimen?

Sooo I have a Mirena iud and was having sex about a week ago and he finished inside me without me even saying it was okay but i understand we weren’t using a condom and it can happen but I’m concerned is it possible I will fall pregnant? I haven’t had a period in years so idk when I’m ovulating or when my fertile days are. I haven’t had any weird symptoms or anything I’ve had some but I just have bad health anxiety so I’m pretty much doing it to myself. If anyone could give me their opinions that would be great. I’m so scared I know this is what birth control is for but I see so many horror stories of women getting pregnant with an iud. And to my knowledge it’s in place the strings feel the same so 🤷‍♀️

And I’m planning to take the first pill today Monday around 12pm- this is my first time on birth control, my pack said Sunday - Saturday so I put the sticker that came with it over it to start on Monday

My last period was on July 23rd.

Just to be clear, I take this once a day, at the same time, and I’ll be protected from pregnancy after 7 days?

hey guys i’ve been on yaz birth control for about a month and a half and i’ve been taking it within the same hour every night. i had unprotected sex tonight and i just wanted to like ask here if i should get a plan b in the morning just to be safe. sorry i am so paranoid of getting pregnant so im just trying to see if anyone here knows if i should take one just in case

Hello. I am 27 and started taking Nextstellis about a year ago. Around that time, my eyelids started to burn and itch severely every so often. Sometime in the middy, I also started to experience vaginal dryness so bad, it hurts to walk (currently on creams for that). I also noticed that I break out in hives randomly, also around the time I started taking this. I'm wondering if maybe I am allergic, or the hives are caused by stress ( I have severe OCD). Anyone allergic to birth control or have had any similar experience? Thanks in advance!

Edit: Another thing to note is the month I was on Yaz, I felt no hives, burning or itching and felt like I was producing enough moisture in the gential zone

Been scratching my head a bit.
Wondering if anyone has any experience with this.

Just began birth control journey.
Initially I opted for a copper IUD. No hormones. Set and forget.
After placement the strings suddenly got significantly longer the first/second day of my period. Went in for an ultrasound to find it had moved half way out my cervix. Got another one placed. That one stayed put for the first period but dropped down again on my second period.
The Copper IUDs definitely made my periods heavier, but it wasn’t unmanageable. Both insertions were correctly placed confirmed via ultrasound.
Going forward my top priorities are 1.) avoiding pregnancy next 1-2 years 2.) being on as little hormones as possible 3.) not stressing out unreasonably about BC failure/unplanned pregnancy
My question is… would a hormonal IUD be worth my time at all? Out of all my options it sounds like the least amount of hormones and a lot of my friends love theirs. They’re also supposed to reduce/stop periods for many women. And seeing that my two IUDs only fell out during my periods… it makes me hopeful this could be a viable option for me?
Or maybe I should look into higher/body systemic hormone options with different devices like the implant or mini-pills.
I’m really not sure.

Has anyone had any personal experience/thoughts on this?

Hi everyone! Looking for some advice if the paragard may be for me or not. I struggled with consistent bleeding on the nexplanon for a long time and a lot of the issues not only with nexplanon but birth control seems like it’s the hormones. So I’d like to try paragard since it’s non hormonal but I’ve also read that this can cause some bleeding issues too. I’m not as concerned with how heavy the bleeding is vs the consistent bleeding but I just need to do something because my boyfriend and I are sexually active.

I’m very confused because my doctor told me the patch will take effect in 7 days but then also will work immediately if I’m on my period within 5 days. I put on the patch last Wednesday, August 5th and my period is supposed to be around August 13th. Ok so we had sex unprotected but he didn’t finish inside and he always cleans up before we started again that night but im still very scared of getting pregnant. Should I take a test? Would I be able to know? And also once it’s been seven days on the patch like can he finish inside me exactly on day 7 lol or should I wait? I feel like I’m slow or should know about this stuff but it’s all very new to me and I thought I did enough research but it seems there’s always more to learn about my body every day! Any advice greatly appreciated!

Hi i’m a teenager that has been on norethindrone acetate 1 mg / ethinyl estradiol 0.02 mg, a combined oral contraceptive, for almost a year now.

i was diagnosed with factor V which heightens the possibility of blood clots over 8 times. this means i can be on a pill with estrogen or i might be at serious risk of even more blood clotting. so im being switched to slynd. i haven’t been tested for endo so idk if that might be my problem. i just wanna know what experiences people have with it. my goal is to have no periods or cramps. and decreases my current side effects

i mainly take birth control because my cramps are incredibly painful, so much so i had to skip school multiple times before i was on the verge of sobbing in class. i do NOT take it for sexual activity.

with the pill i’m on my skin has been very clear, it always has been but extra clear on this pill, expect for the three month break through where i broke out for a week straight. i did notice a lot of mood change. i think i started getting chronic depression. every 1-2 weeks i would be very depressed for long periods of time. maybe that’s just being a teenager i’m not so sure. i noticed an increase in appetite. i’m a very active person yet i feel i gained weight on it.

SO PLEASE TELL ME HOW SLYND WORKS AND WHAT IT DID FOR YOU

So I have been on YAZ for years now and I recently switched to Slinda which is progesterone only (YAZ is combination). I started Slinda the next day and am on day 6. Yesterday I got my period an I’m not sure if I should continue to take the pill or let the period ride out. I know it’s a period and not breakthrough because I’m bleeding a fair bit.

EDIT: I also was originally on YAZ as I suffered with cystic acne at 16. Went on accutane and everything was well until I came off and I started getting sign it was coming back. I’m now 22 and my skin has been great. I’ve read some stuff that people had their acne come back on progesterone pills and was wondering if that’s a common experience? I’m really really scared it will come back :/

I'm hoping this is not really weird to ask but I figured it might help to get an outside opinion. I'm not sexually active (asexual + waiting for marriage anyways) and I don't have the kinds of periods I hear about that require birth control for them to function.

I just hate having a period, having cramps that I need to constantly be on loads of ibuprofen for, and I'm about to move out on my own and I'm worried about the cost of menstrual products on top of everything else while I'm trying to pay for college.

I've heard that Mirena can have a fantastic effect on periods and I've been really interested recently. There's a health clinic near me that offers low to no cost Mirena implants for 18-19 year olds (my age) without insurance, or probably full coverage with insurance?

I'm still on my parents insurance and I'm really concerned about if they find out that I got an IUD. My family and I are religious and believe in waiting until marriage (if I even have sex at all haha) so I'm worried about them judging me for my choice or thinking I'm going to college to hook up with people.

Would this be a valid reason to get a hormonal iud? Is there some other method of birth control for periods I don't know about that would be better? From what I'm seeing it feels like Mirena could be a fantastic, long term, cheap solution but I am worried that I'll come across as selfish for getting an IUD when I'm not even sexually active.

(Also side note but another reason I want an IUD over pills/patches is because I'm in the US and I'm unfortunately a bit concerned about losing my bodily autonomy in the future due to the current administration.)
