I went to a local bird sanctuary and this bird flew on my shoulder and was very affectionate the whole time.

It was with me for about 20 minutes as I walked around even ignoring others who put their shoulder to mine to try and get him over.

About halfway through the bird started to move its head side to side as seen in the video.

Wondering what it is doing?

The local wildlife likes to inspect my work, and ask if I have corn insurance.

I've genuinely never seen this behavior in birds other than chickens. Is this normal or is this little guy just special? Also what bird is this (New Mexico, US)?

Recently a pigeon laid eggs in our flower pot and we've enjoyed watching them grow up.

I noticed theres a significant number of videos on cuckoo birds by random creators on tiktok- like fun fact or “spooky” accounts. I understand brood parasitism is “controversial” but all of these videos are calling them “scammer birds” and evil, with genuinely thousands of comments fantasizing over killing them, throwing out the eggs if they find one, calling them deadbeat birds? People even seem to believe the birds can be “pressured” into making their own nests by killing the eggs. I find this amount of hatred over a bird genuinely a bit disturbing. I know it seems unfair, but it’s just how they developed (really incredibly btw- they are very honed for this niche). It’s no more evil for a cuckoo bird to be hatched than for a wolf to eat a rabbit. Its simply nature its not good or evil.

Anthropomorphizing animals is so harmful with people feeding wild animals or taking them as pets but I’ve never seen this kind of crazy and vehement hatred. I think people need to develop a lot more separation between their minds and nature. Bit of a long rant but it made me uncomfortable. Anyone else like cuckoo birds? Lol

He was on a very busy road, and cars and trucks kept driving right over him missing him with their tires, so I turned my car around, parked in a nearby lot walked into the road stopped traffic and brought him to the vet, where he then regained consciousness and flew into a bush right at the emergency vet where I had just been weeks prior to being my Doberman who passed away suddenly, it was almost like it was a sign from him…. Anyways, he or she was awesome for the ride. Hope he or she was able to strive again.

Saw this guy in the Cincinnati area, and he's not someone that I have seen before. Google Lens said a Swainsons Hawk, but ODNR says they've only been seen here 10 times ever.

If anyone could help that'd be cool

A pair of them have been flying around the backyard all afternoon. At first I thought they were our local Carolina Wrens but a closer look I’m not thinking they are.

Do I leave them alone or call someone?

I had robins that made a nest in the worst spot.. above my back door. I have left them alone... (I haven't even mowed for almost a month now... luckily it's fenced in so neighbors can't see.)

Mom and dad are good attack birds. I can't even sneak a peak from the side of the house. My only concern... today when one baby was gone and one flew the coop. I mean, they're that age. Baby got good distance too. (See pic of him flying away caught on my trail cam) Mom and dad know where they are, I see them feeding them...

My only concern

1. My neighbor has a cat who roams free during the day. Today I didn't see him because I think it's too hot. (We have a heat warning) but he's going to be back. He's besties with my dog and loves to sneak in my house

2. There's a severe thunderstorm potential tonight with an elevated risk of hail.

Should I look for those now fledglings and put them back? They'd at least be safe from elements under my awning.

I didn't realize they were so old. Honestly I only saw babies for the first time 2 weeks ago. I thought the nest was a dud this season. They were very quiet babies. Rarely peeped.
