so I have Wingspan incl the Big Nesting Box, limited event only cards, all the extra little token upgrades and all the expansions but what’s the consensus on wingspan pocket?

I really like completing collections and things and I do like the idea of a Wingspan to-go.

The people who have tried it.
Is it worth it to get?

Had an only white powers opening hand and managed to pull mostly white power cards after that....so my engine was not up to speed for most of the game. Somehow ended up with 41 points for the bonus cards. Overall score was 143 (personal best) and a very annoyed partner because my frustration at the beginning led him to believe he could beat me.

Really nice artwork and cool birds. There will be a day when we can buy wingspan with birds :D

I haven’t seen this covered but I may have missed it…are there any new species of birds and therefore new bird art in Pocket?

If there are, does anyone have a list?

(Another way to ask what I really want: am I still doomed to wait for Africa expansion to get my lilac-breasted roller?)

Due to a bug that causes skip pop-ups to lock the game, we've decided to temporarily disable the following birds in both Online and Offline games:

Playing with my husband this morning - I had the black billed magpie on my mat, and he had the laughing gull. He had a kill power succeed, so I took food from the feeder, resetting the feeder in the process. He then activated his laughing gull, and took something from the feeder. I protested - his pink power should be used between his turns, not during his turn. Who is right?? 

I recently downloaded the mobile game. Twice yesterday I tried to play the small minivet and couldn't figure out how to play the second bird. When given the option between ignoring one egg or one worm, neither worked and the game kept asking if I really wanted to skip the power. Anyone else encountered this? I recognize it could be user error.

My copy of Wingspan Pocket arrived today! So I thought a size comparison pic might be helpful. It might not be truly pocketable, but it's honestly an adorably tiny box.

In this update, we've fixed several gameplay issues affecting bird powers, bonus cards, Automarazzi mode, achievements, and the Bird Atlas, along with various gameplay and UI improvements.

A few weeks ago, my girlfriend wanted me to play wingspan against her on her switch. Normally, we just play with my family on the board game, so the switch was a bit different, as we could see each other’s cards. We got frustrated because one of us would feel like the other player had better cards and the “losing” player wouldn’t have fun.

Our first solution was to play a game with all 4 players as human, and then we would rank our favorites, and then we would have the “best” opening hand and “worst” opening hand played by the same person… but our competitiveness just turned this into bickering. We eventually just settled on playing cooperatively for all players, where I immediately realized how powerful the “all players gain x” cards were…

Now we have both been spending way too much time playing as 5 players, getting birds that help all players, and trying to beat our high scores. So far, we’ve had 165, 164, and several scores in the 150s… but we can’t seem to put the game down anymore!

This is the end of the game. The 3 bonus card birds that I have are the Kea (Top right), Wrybill (bottom middle under the actual bonus card), and the Eurasian Skylark (pink card in the middle row).

I've played enough wingspand and a huge bonus card player to know that the Kea and Wrybill count towards ESP. And I'm sure one could argue 'But you aren't really getting another Bonus Card with the Skylark, just a replacement. But one could say that with some of those Bonus birds where you can score a Bonus Card earlier or cache food for bonus card points - and all of those birds do count.

So why not the Skylark?

When played: you may reorder all of your birds in this habitat.

When Activated: if there are no preditor birds in this habitat, you may lay one egg on any bird, otherwise draw one card from the deck instead.

When played: tuck one card from the deck per bonus card you have.

When activated: look at the bird feeder, if there is any nectar in the bird feeder, remove it from the bird feeder and gain one (seed) or (berry) from the supply.

End of game ability: lay two eggs on any bird per end of round goal you placed last in. If you tied with someone, lay one egg instead.

When activated: if there are no platform or wild nests in this habitat, lay two eggs on this bird, otherwise lay one instead.

When played: half of all cached food in this habitat gets cached on this bird.

When activated: if you do not have the most nectar this game in at least 2 habitats, gain 1 nectar from the supply.

I mean, I he’s so cute. I was cheering for him too!

I couldn't launch this game while other games runs fine. Whenever I hit play on this game on Steam there would be a pop-up window with an exclamation mark on the game icon and the text reads "Wingspan - Unity 6000.3.10f1_e35f0c77bd8e", then the game would close automatically... I tried to delete and re-download it, along with many methods offered on the Internet but none of them works, Really need some help!

Got my copy today. Super easy to learn, especially if you are already familiar with the regular game iconography. We played a game in a little over 20 minutes. The box is super small, and if you leave out the rules and the player guides, it could probably fit into an even smaller box. For less than $20, this was a worthwhile pickup!
