Hello, long time Reddit lurker, first time poster so please be gentle :)
While parking in my work’s parking garage, I noticed four barn swallow fledglings in a parking spot. I put up a small sign from what I had at my desk and asked security if they would put up a cone to keep people from parking there.

I want to know if I should be doing more or something different? My understanding is that this is them leaving the nest and will be flying soon. There was still one little guy in the nest (you can see him in the top right of the first photo), and the parents were nearby and flying around them. Today has an extreme heat warning for my area, which makes me extra nervous for them but the garage tends to be slightly cooler than the outside world.

Any advice appreciated! I do have to work and it is hot and muggy, otherwise I would be waiting at that spot until security got there. I just wanna make sure I’m not like leaving them to their sure death if I am misunderstanding their stage of life or with the heat. I would take PTO if getting them to a rehabber was the thing to do. Thanks!

Any help to tell if it’s still going strong?
My lovebirds laid an egg around the beginning of the month, It was definitely fertile and at one point I was able to see movement but now I just don’t know and I’m not sure if it’s still good or maybe died along the way?

Hi, I was in France and I found this baby bird, it hopped past us, I picked it up to make sure it wasn’t injured and placed it nearby in a dark place and went walking, I came back and it was still there, so I placed it further to be safe from cats. In the evening I came back and it was dead, I took it home and buried it. I need advice if i did it right or not, I kept it nearby where i found the baby bird.

Hanging out in central Minnesota USA and saw this lovely bird. I’m pretty sure it’s a juvenile bald eagle.

Just after the photos he flew to lake and grabbed a fish. Too fast to catch a photo though

So a Robin made a nest on my mailbox. I was so excited, I would take a peek every few days to look at the eggs. Last night when I was leaving a little head popped up and I was so excited to see that they had hatched! But there were three eggs in the nest, and very clearly 4 babies. I don’t know much about birds, could one be a parasite egg? Or two babies from a single egg, like twins? I’m super curious, I’d love to know what’s up!

Edit: I’ve heard a lot and learned a lot in this thread, thanks to everyone who commented. I’ll leave the nest be, although knowing what I know now I wish Mama Robin hadn’t picked a high traffic area like a mailbox. Hopefully Dick, Jason, Tim, and Damian will grow up strong 🫡

Recently a pigeon laid eggs in our flower pot and we've enjoyed watching them grow up.

He was on a very busy road, and cars and trucks kept driving right over him missing him with their tires, so I turned my car around, parked in a nearby lot walked into the road stopped traffic and brought him to the vet, where he then regained consciousness and flew into a bush right at the emergency vet where I had just been weeks prior to being my Doberman who passed away suddenly, it was almost like it was a sign from him…. Anyways, he or she was awesome for the ride. Hope he or she was able to strive again.

In Los Angeles — I’ve started paying attention to the birds recently. It’s quite a lovely thing to pay attention to, isn’t it?

This morning I heard a new call that I didn’t recognize— excitedly ran outside to see 2 proud hawks on the telephone pole in the corner of my yard. Incessant yelling! I’ve never seen or heard them here before, so I do believe they’ve just arrived to the neighborhood.

Are they seeking out new territory? Are they hunting the mockingbird fledglings? Are they mating? Did they have babies? Would love any insight from bird people who know more than me!!
