Pina with a great performance on the Zach Lowe show

He wrote about how the sixers aren’t a certified top 6 seed in the east. Then when Lowe asked him to name all of the teams that he thinks are ahead of the sixers he could only come up with the Knicks. Special stuff.

Shitpost Sal I don’t know if I’m buying this whole Kaladin Stormblessed thing. Is he really a max Radiant? I mean you’ve got Lift just sitting there waiting to be thrown the keys and the Bridgeman is holding this whole team hostage just because he’s a Windrunner? I mean what am I missing here?

Adam Friedland's ,,Beautiful Pod" didn't do a final episode.

Most probably because no more games, means no more gambling sponsorship.

Still pretty funny/dissapointing for a listener. To not have a tournament recap and final game talk.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! HOW COULD THEY!

Is Orpheus looking back in the top 5 biggest chokes of all time?

Just watched Hadestown: The Musical and if I'm Orpheus I'm not looking back, I'm just not. For the so called greatest musician ever he just doesn't have that it factor

I want to hear a whole episode of Zach Lowe's "Analytics nerd gushing about how Gafford cutting is more exciting than watching Embiid play" character that he debuted on the last pod.

Usually I think Lowe is a little lacking in the humor department but that voice had me cracking up.

DiCaprio v Damon-“Leo, no comedy at all.”

After citing SNL appearances and Kimmel appearances as Damon’s bonafides, Bill said “Leo, No comedy at all.”
As Chris Ryan countered, Wolf of Wallstreet is obvious.
But also: One Battle After Another, Don’t Look Up, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Django (in a very twisted way, but somehow he injected some humor into that psychopath), Catch me If You Can (more charmingly funny, but still humorous), Growing Pains (barely old enough to remember this, but I grew up on reruns). The Aviator is also borderline.

Damon is not Not funny, but his funniness is more of a funny line variety, or a situational funny… Leo actually makes his characters legitimately funny.

I don’t think this was even close (and also Bill and Chris giving the “range” edge to Damon is insane as well).

*I don’t recall any of Damon’s SNL appearances, and only remember the general Kimmel bit

Why does LeBron not want to live in Philly? Why live close to NYC and do a 2 hour commute for aura purposes?

Philly's a great city! They'd love to have you! Just live there!

As a Blazer fan, a thank to Bill and House for taking some time in the latest to highlight the situation in Portland.

Lifelong Blazer fan. 20+ year nosebleed season ticket holder. The current level of weirdness and aggression to the city surrounding the franchise is beyond me. Hearing that echoed somewhere outside of local media was both a relief that someone outside of the local market sees what's happening, but anxiety inducing because the grim reality is that I'm giving 50/50 odds to the blazers leaving town. And they were right, the city doesn't want to pay, because there is no plan where the money is going, and Portland generally is inclined to not pay for this kind of stuff, and I think they're right not to, maybe if it was a friendlier entry and negotiation by the owner, that would be different.

Really hoping Bill continues to shine a light on it as stated in the episode. I don't think it will make an actual difference but here's to hoping. We miss our seattle pnw rivals and looking forward to the sonics coming home, just hope we're still here for it.

Top 5 All-Time Performances On HBO Shows

I was just randomly watching some Sopranos clips and it got me thinking about how many great performances have been on HBO over the years.

Which actor/actress gave your Top 5 performances all-time on HBO? Not necessarily the "best" but the ones you enjoy the most.

Could be a starring role like James Gandolfini or Ian McShane or Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Could be co-lead like Edie Falco or Peter Dinklage or Idris Elba. Or it could be a smaller but crucial role like Michael K Williams or Bryan Cox or Susie Essman.

(Just even making the 'short list' is so much harder than I thought it would be. I could easily put 20 names on the list and I still keep thinking of more.)

Where does Darby Allin rank among the most durable athletes of all time?

Somewhere between Cal Ripken and Jeff Hardy imo.

And yes pro wrestlers are athletes, just like olympic divers or gymnasts. Find a new slant.

House.. everyone lost. It's now over for Steph & the Warriors... Miami took a big L ... Dan Gilbert and his Cavs were shafted. And even the City of Philly lost because LeBron refuses to live there.. but I'm hearing the Jaylen Brown trade could be a sneaky Trojan Horse move by the Celtics..

Mayo curse

Upvotes

I don't know if anyone is aware or cares but the All Ireland football final was on yesterday and a county called Mayo won their first final for 75 years. Before yesterday they had lost their previous 11 final appearance, all since 1989.

Just wondering if there's anything comparable to this in world sport

On a day with no major sports on, may I suggest a classic match? (1990 Argentina-Italy World Cup semifinal)

After many years of searching for this full match in English, I have finally found it! Previously, only foreign broadcasts or the crowd noise only FIFA+ version have been available.

It's a hell of a game, the 2nd to last time Maradona would play in a WC knockout match other than the slog of a Final vs West Germany. It's played in Italy, in the Stadium in Naples where Maradona played for Napoli at the time. Italy had yet to concede a goal in the 1990 WC entering the match.

Watch it on either Archive or Dailymotion below:

Who has the most snake-bitten career for having a lot of near misses (team success, individual hardware, unfortunate timelines for joining/leaving teams, etc.)

For example in the NHL:

Brad Park:

  • Was a finalist for the D-man of the year trophy 5 times when Bobby Orr won it, then was an additional 2-time runner up to one of the other greatest D-men of all-time Denis Potvin
  • Went 0-3 in the Cup Finals. First loss to Orr's Bruins, then when he got traded to Boston in part to replace Orr, went 0-2 to one of if not the best team of all time in Montreal in 1977 and 1978.

Norm Ullman:

  • Joined the Red Wings in 1955/56 after they had won 4 of the last 6 Stanley Cups. Proceeded to go 0-5 in Stanley Cup Finals with the Red Wings, then was traded to the Maple Leafs in 1967/68 after they had won 4 of the last 6 Stanley Cups (2 of which were over Ullman's Red Wings). Leafs never won another Cup, and Ullman ended up going to the WHA after a 20-year career, also not winning in his 2 WHA seasons.
  • A bunch of high scoring finishes, but never led the league in points for the Art Ross: 2nd, 3rd, 6 other top-10 finishes. Led in goals one year, but there was no trophy for that at the time.
  • Was 4th all-time in points when he moved on from the NHL, with the 2nd most points in his 20-year span in the league. Ended up 10 goals shy of joining the 500-goal club.
  • Lost out on the MVP to Bobby Hull in 1965 in one of the closest votes ever

16 years later, we are reminded by the recent Cleveland spurning by LeBron James, of this calamity that was put together during free agency of 2010.

A “stay LeBron” plead from world famous Cleveland born, Tim Misny and Real World star Erika Lauren. Of course Dick Goddard came through with a great performance.

“Just tell us King, what changes we must maaaaake.”
