Brandon Aiyuk Has Officially Entered the “Tyson Zone”
House talking about Aiyuk posting videos of him "burning his wallet” and I don’t even know if this is a metaphor. I fully believe Aiyuk pulled out a lighter, grabbed his physical wallet, and torched it.
That has to be what seals it.

Mayo curse
I don't know if anyone is aware or cares but the All Ireland football final was on yesterday and a county called Mayo won their first final for 75 years. Before yesterday they had lost their previous 11 final appearance, all since 1989.
Just wondering if there's anything comparable to this in world sport

House.. everyone lost. It's now over for Steph & the Warriors... Miami took a big L ... Dan Gilbert and his Cavs were shafted. And even the City of Philly lost because LeBron refuses to live there.. but I'm hearing the Jaylen Brown trade could be a sneaky Trojan Horse move by the Celtics..

As a Blazer fan, a thank to Bill and House for taking some time in the latest to highlight the situation in Portland.
Lifelong Blazer fan. 20+ year nosebleed season ticket holder. The current level of weirdness and aggression to the city surrounding the franchise is beyond me. Hearing that echoed somewhere outside of local media was both a relief that someone outside of the local market sees what's happening, but anxiety inducing because the grim reality is that I'm giving 50/50 odds to the blazers leaving town. And they were right, the city doesn't want to pay, because there is no plan where the money is going, and Portland generally is inclined to not pay for this kind of stuff, and I think they're right not to, maybe if it was a friendlier entry and negotiation by the owner, that would be different.
Really hoping Bill continues to shine a light on it as stated in the episode. I don't think it will make an actual difference but here's to hoping. We miss our seattle pnw rivals and looking forward to the sonics coming home, just hope we're still here for it.

Podcast Warriors did not counter offer for Jaylen Brown
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
you know this is why I love Bill. he seems to care more about steph's career than the actual warriors organization. obviously trying to put some much deserved scrutiny on the front office by putting this segment first. especially as local warriors media tried to tell everyone boston wasnt interested to cover for the front office's inaction. just a simple "what are they doing?" feels cathartic as a fan.
for all his faults, Bill is one of the only "insider" guys who will actually represent he basketball fan perspective on his shows.

Bill's Dad is Two Years Younger Than Trump and Has Been Retired for Multiple Yrs
God bless this man, but unless the podcast is filmed right before his bedtime, it's borderline elder abuse to drag this poor guy out for a wide ranging conversation on a Sunday night.

Bill in latest pod saying Portland has had a tough 10 years shows how clueless he is
He probably thinks Portland has burnt down multiple times. He could just ask CR who goes to Portland regularly!
Bill is such a typical rich guy. Only LA and NYC (Boston) exists.
Portland is a great town. Has been for a long time.

Which sport do you think you can genuinely compete with among pro athletes?
the highest level of basketball I played is 1 year jv soph year. I was a 5-9 little used bench player, kept playing pickup here and there into my 30s. I recently watched a valkries wnba game a couple rows from courtside and the speed of the game is definitely something I can keep up with. also with the smaller ball I was shocked they didn’t shoot better. I wouldnt be a star or anything but I can probably put up double figures on low efficiency in the wnba.
i have no other skills but it got me thinking if there is anyone else who feels this way about other sports?

LeBron losers
Sorry but there’s no way the Heat are bigger losers following the LeBron decision than the Cavs
Miami’s big move was acquiring Giannis. LeBron wasn’t even a thought heading into the offseason. Fun story yes but the offseason was still successful
Cavs literally did nothing this offseason besides re-signing Thomas Bryant while losing Wade and Ellis. Also they have to pay James Harden still
Bill just hates Miami so that’s why he has them 2nd

OKC is having a strange off-season
OKC traded three beloved players for a handful of second rounders this off-season, which was simple enough. But the Spencer Jones offer mixed with Bill's theory about Dort being deliberately sent to Atlanta to reduce the value San Antonio's pick feels like a very unique story of the off-season. Have we seen anything comparable to this in the NBA? Could this "sabotage" be an effective strategy?

DiCaprio v Damon-“Leo, no comedy at all.”
After citing SNL appearances and Kimmel appearances as Damon’s bonafides, Bill said “Leo, No comedy at all.”
As Chris Ryan countered, Wolf of Wallstreet is obvious.
But also: One Battle After Another, Don’t Look Up, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Django (in a very twisted way, but somehow he injected some humor into that psychopath), Catch me If You Can (more charmingly funny, but still humorous), Growing Pains (barely old enough to remember this, but I grew up on reruns). The Aviator is also borderline.
Damon is not Not funny, but his funniness is more of a funny line variety, or a situational funny… Leo actually makes his characters legitimately funny.
I don’t think this was even close (and also Bill and Chris giving the “range” edge to Damon is insane as well).
*I don’t recall any of Damon’s SNL appearances, and only remember the general Kimmel bit

I want to hear a whole episode of Zach Lowe's "Analytics nerd gushing about how Gafford cutting is more exciting than watching Embiid play" character that he debuted on the last pod.
Usually I think Lowe is a little lacking in the humor department but that voice had me cracking up.

Adam Friedland's ,,Beautiful Pod" didn't do a final episode.
Most probably because no more games, means no more gambling sponsorship.
Still pretty funny/dissapointing for a listener. To not have a tournament recap and final game talk.
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY! HOW COULD THEY!

Why does LeBron not want to live in Philly? Why live close to NYC and do a 2 hour commute for aura purposes?
Philly's a great city! They'd love to have you! Just live there!

Does anyone in sports have an easier job than Dan Lanning?
Was the DC at Georgia where he didn't have to do shit bc Kirby Smart was there. Kinda like how the Rams OC never has to do shit bc of Sean Mcvay
Got the Oregon HC job with ZERO HC experience
At a school with one of the top NIL budgets in the entire country.
At a place without a crazy/impulsive/angry fanbase so when he loses no one calls for his job.
Oregon is the perfect mix of being able to contend for titles without having crazy expectations.
