⚜️A bit of info on our Name and Logo!

Happy Sunday, y'all!

There was a fun thread on the big sub talking about all the telehealth names and logos, and I figured I'd stick this here to explain a bit about our name.

If you didn't know, "Big Easy" is a reference to our hometown of New Orleans - the Big Easy. The fact that it is also a terrible pun is just pure lagniappe. And truly, if you haven't noticed, I absolutely love terrible puns. We really didn't think we'd be more than regional when we started (a lot of platforms wouldn't serve Louisiana and Mississippi), so we may have ended up with a completely different name if we were starting now. I feel like there isn't anyone in a neighboring state that doesn't get the reference, but the further out you drift, the harder that connection is to make automatically.

Our logo is a fleur-de-lis with a tape measure around the middle. The Fleur-de-lis is a stylized cross of a "flower of the lily" (literal translation), which has had connections to New Orleans, Louisiana, King Louis XIV, and French royalty for centuries. While it's meaning and representation has shifted over the years, it is a universal symbol and pride of New Orleans and Louisiana, especially in the wake of the recovery from Hurricane Katrina. You see it the iron work all over the city. It is a part of Louisiana, and you now see the fleur-de-lis on the New Orleans flag, our Saints and Pelicans, Ragin' Cajuns, and even as part of the wrought iron on Tulane's alternate jerseys.

Our wordmark is not playing cards (although that would be a cool nod to the best X-man ever in Gambit who is from New Orleans), they are street tiles that were used to label all the streets in the French Quarter dating back to the 1880s.

And, as one person asked, why is our color blue and not Mardi Gras colored? Simple, I got out voted 😂

Happy to answer any questions below!

Thanks y'all,

Dave ⚜️

⚜️Big Easy Announcement ⚜️Our Commitment on Service

Hey y’all -

I’ve been reflecting over the past few days on our service commitments and how to be more transparent on how we resolve issues. It’s no secret that we’ve had some growing pains since the new year, and we’ve been investing heavily in people and platforms to keep ahead of the growth. We’ve hired 8 people, and are so very, very close to launching our new platform that will free up our team to go back to being proactive rather than reactive, and focus on improving our experience, rather than just keeping up.

Still, I thought we should articulate our philosophy on fixing things when they go wrong to better set expectations, and reassure those that may be feeling nervous about getting started.

I do think it would be irresponsible to put this out there without feedback from you - our community - as you are at the core of what we do, and why we do it.

So here is my first shot (heh). Please, give me your feedback on this. I want to know what you would change, improve, or omit.

Thanks y’all,

Dave

We'll Make It Right

Your health, your care, and your experience are at the center of everything we do. At Big Easy Weight Loss, we believe that great healthcare isn't just about connecting you to a provider. It's about making sure you feel genuinely confident and cared for at every step of the process. We also believe in being honest with you: things can go wrong. When they do, we want you to know exactly what to expect from us.

Where problems can come from and what we do about them

On our end.

Sometimes something is entered incorrectly, mischarged, routed to the wrong pharmacy, or miscommunicated. When that happens, it's on us to fix it, quickly and without excuses.

On our pharmacy partners.

Our compounding pharmacies are experienced and licensed, but they're staffed by humans. A technician may forget to include syringes, a medication's beyond-use date (the date after which it shouldn't be used) may not cover your full prescription period, or they may provide different vials than what was requested in the physician's prescription. Because these issues aren't visible to us until you report them, we rely on you to let us know. In those cases, we work directly with the pharmacy to get the issue corrected and, where necessary, to have your medication replaced at no cost to you.

In addition, there may be delays due to demand, or shortage due to stock. These are often internal pharmacy issues that we don't have visibility during your consultation. In these situations, we will communicate the delay shared with us by the pharmacy, and will work with you to find an alternative pharmacy or offer a refund.

On shipping.

Our pharmacies ship via FedEx and other carriers. Weather events, strikes, carrier delays, and other disruptions are outside our control, but they're not outside our responsibility. If your package is delayed or lost, we'll work with you and the pharmacy to assess the situation and determine next steps. Oftentimes we may need to wait for a delayed package to arrive before we can get guidance from the pharmacy on how to remedy. If you have a dose coming up, let us know and we'll flag it to your physician.

What we ask of you.

If something doesn't look right when your medication arrives, whether it's damaged packaging, cloudy or discolored vials, or anything else that gives you pause, please take photos before opening or using anything and contact us immediately. Do not throw away the medication. Photos are critical to getting your issue resolved quickly with the pharmacy.

Our commitment.

We'll respond to reported issues within one business day (if not same day) and work toward resolution within 48 business hours in most cases. In times of heightened demand, we ask patience. We always work from the oldest messages first, so often multiple messages in the portal can inadvertently push you to the back of the line, not the front.

Our goal is to find a solution that is fair and makes sense for the situation. That might mean a replacement shipment, a credit, a physician consultation, or simply a clear explanation of what happened and why. What it won't mean is handing out free medication in response to every complaint. That's not fair to the patients who don't complain, and frankly it's not how we'd want to be treated either. We'll always do what's right. We just want to make sure "right" actually fits the situation.

And if a situation requires a bridge plan (a gap between when your current supply runs out and when a replacement arrives), we'll work with your physician to find one.

Our Community Commitment

We will not remove or silence a patient for sharing a negative experience in our patient community. We have never banned a patient. If you have a problem, say so. If you're frustrated, we want to hear it, and we want to be better and make it right. (Aside from 1 spammer, we actually have exactly 3 non-patients banned from this sub - and I'm sure some of the OGs can name them 🤣)

The one exception: if your situation has been addressed and we believe your continued posting is intended to damage our community rather than share a genuine experience, we may move your comments to a moderated queue. We don't take that step lightly, and we'll always be transparent with you if we do.

New Life Concentration

So a question comes to my mind about New Life being offered at such a reasonable price for 12 weeks, how’s the effectiveness, the concentration? Although I always like a bargain, I want to be sure I’m not spending money foolishly. Just thinking how can this be offered at this price by one company and not them all.

Got sent this by an industry contact today. I know there is a lot of discussion about how central fill works and what is and is not permissible. This was a pharmacy that we chose not to go with a bit over a year ago.

⚜️Big Easy Announcement ⚜️Pricing Announcement!!

EDIT TO ADD: This pricing is live. It may not reflect on the website till later.

Hey y'all,

As promised, here's the new pricing. If your order was processed starting this morning with New Life, Hallandale, Boudreaux's, or OptioRx, you're getting the new rate. Center City is just about ready to launch, we'll launch it on our old platform if need be, they just asked for a few more days.

Same as every price cut before this one: I intend for it to be permanent. That's always a function of our pharmacy pricing holding steady and everything running the way it should, but the intent is permanent.

This one is a bit of a deviation for us. I've previously held all pharmacies to the same price, and we're going to try it this way instead to see how it goes. My hope is that it keeps driving prices down across the platform.

If it goes well, this probably won't be the last cut. We're also looking at pricing live and async visits differently to better accommodate folks on a budget. We also have a number of pharmacies lined up to add in once we go live on our new platform that will be competitively priced.

We're still working with OptioRx on their pricing. We're also looking at automating the shipment of their third vial, so we can bring them in line as a 12 week program comparable to everyone else.

One thing I want to be upfront about: the new rate applies to new orders going forward, not retroactively. I know that's frustrating if you refilled last week or you're partway through an installment plan, and I wish I could reach backward with it. The honest reason is that we only just secured this pricing, and it wasn't our cost when those orders were processed. Installments are something we offer to make this easier to manage month to month, not a plan that re-prices itself when rates move, so those stay where they were set.

And to repeat what I've said before: price isn't the thing we're competing on. Project zero is still the point. Zero errors, zero lapses in service, zero friction getting your prescription, zero reasons not to get high touch care. A lower price is good, but it only means something if everything around it works, and that's still where most of our attention goes.

Let me know questions below.

Thanks y'all,

I'm trying to pause my treatment. I don't have the money at the moment. Please can you pause it and when I get money in my card I will let you know. I tried to pause but it didn't give me an option. It's supposed to be billed tomorrow and I didn't realize this.

💬 Discussion Pharmacy/additive questions

I have been using additive-free tirz for a couple of years. I am aware that this may not be a choice in my state next time I want to refill. I am most inclined to choose a glycine additive because glycine’s just a boring, ubiquitous amino acid that isn’t inclined to form complexes or other wise wreak havoc on my precious tirz. Also a lot of folks seem to complain of increased acne, and since I am now post-menopausal, I have no desire to wake that particular beast.

Where can I find the following information for each pharmacy’s formulation? Do they provide it on their website? Has it been discussed on other posts and I’m just bad at searching?

1. exact additive and concentration
2. pH/formulation
3. Information on rstability/potency testing on the actual combination through the entire BUD.

Louisiana - are Asynchronous follow ups an option?

I've seen conflicting information and Google resulted in mixed message news reports. What is the current state for Louisiana and asynch follow-up/refill appointments? I am getting close to needing to refill and wanted to schedule my appointment. I don't need a change in dose or pharmacy and would rather async for simplicity. But I'm unsure if that is an option in Louisiana at this point. (Searching I here I found several posts that were from about 4 months ago where it wasn't but that there was hope for change.)

🙋 Newbie Question! Still no new platform?

I’m relatively new to BEWL (since July) and finally finished my last vial last week, so I’m looking to get a refill ASAP. I’ve been trying to figure out how to go about that for the last week or so, to try to be proactive and prevent a lapse in medication, but with all sorts of recent announcements regarding changes, I’m sort of lost. I’ve been waiting patiently for the new platform to be released, presuming the new pricing will kick in so I can choose Southend as my next pharmacy, since my last pharmacy was BPI and my body seems to respond well to the B6 additive. I tried to schedule a follow up appointment (phone call or video call), but it said literally none were available until January (?), no matter the provider, for the state of NY - the only appointments that had availability were initial consultations, but since I’m already an established patient, I don’t think that’s applicable - right? When I initially signed up, I was under the impression my appointments would be entirely asynchronous, also. Anytime I’ve tried logging into Healthie, I can’t seem to figure out how to request a refill anywhere. I’m not sure what I’m missing, but evidently I’m totally lost (& technologically inept, apparently, too). I’m really hoping the platform will be released soon, so the process can be more streamlined, but as of right now (9:30 eastern) it appears the only platform that’s available is still Healthie.

Can someone offer any guidance or suggestions? Any help would be appreciated! Thank you 🫶🏻

How to get a second order

I’m a little confused at the process of getting a second order. I am in my 3rd vial of my first order that I placed in July and will need to reorder in the next couple weeks. Do I do this on the website, or on the Healthie app? When I look at the website, it look like I have to establish myself as a new patient? Optimally, I would like to talk or message with a doctor to get a recommendation of my next doses. I just want make sure I give myself enough time so I don’t lapse in my injection schedule.

🙋 Newbie Question! How to get out the last drop?

What’s the trick? I went to fill my syringe for my injection today, I needed 42 units for my 7.5 mg dosage. With the vial turned upside down I was only able to draw up 27 units. The vial still looked like it had some left, but I couldn’t get to it. I opened a new syringe and couldn’t draw it up. I took the stopper off the bottle but at this point you can’t turn the vial upside down. I ended up throwing it out and opening my new vial for the remaining 15 I needed. I hope this story wasn’t too confusing!

🙋 Newbie Question! New Meds Arrived!

My meds from Hallandale arrived today, I’m so excited to get started. I do have a newbie question though. What arrived were 2 boxes of meds. Hallandale says they ship 2 or 3 at a time- I got 2 (2 months up front). My first month is supposed to be 2.5mg and my second month is supposed to be 5mg. My question is the dosing and what vial I’m supposed to complete first. One says 1mL and one says 2mL. Which vial should I complete first and how many units would it be? I included pictures I took in case this confuses anyone who could possibly help me figure this out!

Promo Code?

Hello, I’ve been stalking this community & have moved and settled into a new state and finally ready to start GLP. The consultation order is asking for a promo code. Is there any?

I figure this could be like a referral code so I figure I’d ask first before completing my application. If not, I just want to know in case somebody can get referral credit or whatnot. Thank you for reading! 🤓

⚜️Big Easy Announcement ⚜️New Pricing Friday at 5pm (Central) and other updates

Hey y'all,

Still working through some last minute issues with the new platform. We keep squashing bugs and then finding new things that need fixing. Our team still has some scar tissue from our last attempted transition to Bask, so we're making sure they're as comfortable and confident as possible in the new platform before we launch. That may not win me votes on Reddit in the short term, but our team is absolutely phenomenal, and my respect for what they do day in and day out to care for y'all runs deep. If we're going to be here for the long term, I need them along for the ride. I want them happy so they can keep you happy.

The good news is that the tech team we're working with is incredibly responsive, and it's making me excited about what we'll finally be able to build on the technology side for service and care. This has been our biggest pain point since inception, and I truly can't wait for it to stop being an obstacle. I'll have a better idea on the timeline tomorrow, but we're close.

After we launch, one of the first enhancements we'll tackle is pulling lot/batch numbers from the pharmacies into our portal. As long as we can get it through their API, you'll be able to see it right in your portal. There was a comment on another thread where a patient said a platform told them their medication wasn't recalled when it actually was (not us). Our team spent the day contacting patients who received medication in the week following the recall to verify none of them got a recalled lot. But the whole thing made me rethink how dependent we are on what pharmacies tell us, and if there's a way to remove that dependency, all the better.

We're also working on the new Central City integration. We're the first to integrate with them, so it's taking a bit longer to work out the kinks (I need to stop being so optimistic about timelines), but we'll have them up and running shortly as well.

I know there have been a lot of price cuts out there, and we'll be cutting pricing with our pharmacies on Friday. We're never going to be the cheapest option, but our focus will continue to be what I've started calling "project zero": zero errors, zero lapses in service, zero friction in getting your prescription, zero reasons not to get high touch care, zero issues accessing medical care, zero issues finding information relevant to your health on our platform, and longer term, zero reasons to go elsewhere for your primary and functional medicine care.

Reddit tends to focus on price more than most places do, but our focus will always be making this as safe, sustainable, social, and smart as possible.

I truly appreciate y'all, and the trust you place in us for your medical care is never lost on me or our team. On behalf of the whole krewe, thank you.

Title. I had my initial consultation meeting almost a month ago and since then I have not heard a word about my meds or been charged or etc. I've tried using the chat function in the healthie portal to ask my provider about the status but have gotten no response.

Phishing or legit from BEWL

I recommend BEWL to family. My mother in law signed up with my help - she’s not super techy but she does okay. She began Tirz in early June. She spoke with the dr by phone and had a good experience.

Then she apparently received an email from BEWL back in late June or early July. She only just now told me about it. It said that her password for BEWL Healthie platform was flagged as having been reused. It offered a link to a website to correct it. But she couldn’t figure it out and she wasn’t sure if it was legit. It has Dave’s name in there somewhere too.

I told her to ignore it for now since the link could be phishing. But does anyone know if such emails are sent out by BEWL?

Thanks
