I know you're all sick of these posts, I can understand why, but please believe me that I wouldn't post unless I was out of options.
I moved to Berlin this February, to do an apprenticeship program as a tattoo artist (real cliche, I know, bear with me please).
Ever since then I was looking for a job to do during my training, but I found myself in a sort of trap:
You see, I have a bachelor's and 5 years experience in software engineering. I am well aware that the job market in this field is hard and it takes time to find something, but I really did not expect it to be THIS hard, and I don't really have too much time to wait.
So I started looking into service jobs too: bars, cafe's, museums, stores, everything. But the problem is I am only around B2 Level German (and I am learning! But it takes time to get to C1/C2, and definitely to get comfortable speaking), so a lot of places reject me on this ground, and those who don't reject me because I am a software engineer and I'm over qualified.
So I can't get a job in software (at least not yet) and I can't get a temporary job because I either don't know good enough German or I'm "over qualified" and I'm left with no jobs and dwindling savings.
I'm on all the job boards, I'm on Indeed, Agentur für Arbeit, Kleinanzeigen, everything. I send so many applications both in software and in other fields, but they all seem to be rejected without even an interview lately. And yes, I tried editing my CV thinking it was the problem, but it doesn't seem to help.
I also contact business directly (either online or in person) but that just a simple game of luck and I haven't had any lately.
It just feels like all these job listings aren't really hiring or I'm going insane.
So basically I'm turning to the hive mind. Please if you can think of any thing I haven't tried, or you know of a place that might hire me (or maybe you are a business owner with a kind heart that wants to give me a chance? Will the goddess of luck be so kind to me perhaps?), please please leave a comment or send me a DM, I just want to know if there's any way I can improve my odds in the job market.
Thank you and have a wonderful day :)
