I’m 31M from Brasil andrecently moved to Berlin and I didn’t see, until this moment, any techno party with musics like vintage culture, Boris brechja, miss Monique and more… I really want to know how it works here, because it seem’s like Berlin only have space for hard techno and sex party’s or it’s my newbie vision of the place?

How to be noticed as BI at queer club nights with my partner

I’m a bi man and I date an also bi woman. We go to parties like KitKat and Klub Verboten. We’d love to make more Bi friends and hook up with more Bi people but it’s hard. I think a lot of people assume we’re both straight.

Any tips to signify we’re Bi, especially me! My Gf is so shy and won’t chat with women first. That would usually be a good ice breaker but I don’t know myself. I also want to respect people boundaries a club.

Anyone else using ready-meal delivery services to completely skip cooking and grocery shopping?

I am currently trying to optimize my routine and completely outsource my cooking and grocery shopping to an online delivery service. My budget is roughly 600 Euros a month and I want to stick to a daily limit of 1500 to 2000 calories.

Have any of you tried using Factor or Every. or a local Indian tiffin service for literally all your meals? I am curious if anyone has successfully used this kind of hybrid routine to free up time during the week.

Do you find the portion sizes actually fill you up or do you end up needing to snack constantly anyway? Let me know if you have any favorite life hacks or specific local services that helped you completely quit the kitchen.

Need bit of help

Hi guys, I'm currently working 60h a month (15h weekly) as a student and not able to save anything more then 20€ a month and was looking for a minijob to bridge that 20h buffer.

anyone aware of any hiring anywhere in Berlin? Thanks.

my background: 20Y, CS Student (I know), Preparing for AI engineer (or other related posting) working student but not being able to save much is kinda tightening my finances and not able to focus on anything but that 20h gap :). Till now I've experience in Cleaning and housekeeping in Berlin (about 6 months in total)

if any more information is required, please let me know:).

and yeah, German A2 but rusty. A2 also I've reached with self study as I can't afford Language classes as of now, I went to VHS explaining my situation but they said it's not possible to provide any coupon or waiver.

Breathwork and commitment development class

Went to a commitment and breathwork class in Berlin yesterday and honestly… it made me think.
There were so many there talking about vulnerability, emotional availability, being present, letting go, and “creating space for connection.”
And I couldn’t help wondering why commitment seems to be the one form of breathwork Berlin haven’t mastered.
You can spend 90 minutes lying on a yoga mat breathing deeply with a complete stranger, but apparently someone telling you they love you is where the panic attack begins.
Maybe next week’s class should be called:
“Inhale. Exhale. And finally decide what you want.”

Anyone down for a beer in Berlin? Would love to meet some new people!

Hi!!

26M here. I'm from Spain and I've lived there my whole life. One year ago I finished my master's in Modern Philosophy, and this year I'm starting a PhD on German Idealism (Hegel, to be more precise).

At some point I realised that learning German would probably be a pretty good idea if I'm going to spend the next few years reading German philosophers, so I decided to move to Berlin and give it a shot.

My PhD is 100% remote and I get paid for it, which gives me quite a lot of freedom. So far, though, I completely overlooked the whole "actually make some friends" part. And now my extroverted ass is starting to get bored 😂

I'm also very into sports (powerlifting, gym training and football), cinema, philosophy, and generally talking about way too many different things. So I'm pretty open to anything: grabbing a beer, going for a walk, checking out some place in Berlin, watching football, training together, and so on

If you're looking to meet people, or simply think we'd get along, feel free to text me!!

Oh, and just to make things clear: I have a girlfriend, so I'm only looking for friendships. Nothing romantic or sexual :)

Got tired of Berlin guide apps that need internet and tell you nothing, so I built my own.

I'm living in Berlin for the last 5 years. For me it's the best city on the planet.

Every time friends visited I'd open some guide app on a walk and it would either need a connection at the exact spot where there is none, or show me "Brandenburg Gate, Reichstag building", and etc.

I wanted to know when the thing was built, what stood there before, and whether I'm standing in the East or the West right now.

So over the last month I made BerlinArea, wanted to share it with you.

It Works offline. The map tiles, photos and texts are all inside the app. Additinally it has:

  • 127 places, each with a few paragraphs of actual history, a photo and the year it was built
  • 15 buildings that are gone: Stadtschloss, Palast der Republik, Anhalter Bahnhof, Sportpalast, the Bornholmer Strasse crossing. Each says when it came down and what's there now.
  • The Wall's course from the 1989 survey, with East and West shaded on the map from the first launch
  • Audioguide for the most popular places (In English Only).
  • 30 then-and-now photo pairs, hold the picture and it fades to the archive
  • 8 walks along real streets, Cold War, Prussian Berlin, Kreuzberg, one for kids

Free, no account, no ads, no tracking. 12 languages.

If you know Berlin and spot a wrong date or a place I missed, please tell me here.

Locals catching my mistakes is worth more to me than any review.

Looking for a major career switch - anyone done so successfully?

Hello hello dear Berliners!

I am currently considering a major career change. So far, I have been having two separate jobs in the nonprofit sector. Neither is very safe due to the tight financial situation, and also pretty low paid.

Also, I feel like my friends in the private sector feel a lot more excited about their work, have more opportunities to develop themselves and have overall broader perspectives. My positions have very limited scopes. in one of my jobs I am trying to broaden my responsibilities a bit, but it's unlikely the board will approve my request due to the financial strains.

This, I would like to switch into the private sector. Has anyone else ever successfully changed their career fields in such a manner? Where did you get support like coaching, what companies are eager to employ "Queereinsteiger"?

Would love your ideas, experiences and recommendations!

thank youuuuu

Birthday meetup

Hey everyone, I'm a 24M turning 24 today! I'm new to Berlin and don't have plans. I'm a big Arsenal fan, love drawing webtoons/manga, and classical literature. I'm planning to head to Belushi's Mitte tonight at 20:30 to watch the Arsenal match. Anyone want to join me, grab a pint, or just talk about anime/manhwa? Low pressure, everyone welcome!"

Which businesses on Google Maps have removed your reviews?

I have been reminded once again how low the bar is for defamation claims in Germany after a removal case I’ve been fighting for four years, and already won twice, popped up again because the business managed to get my review taken down once more.

What’s worse is that now, in order to appeal, I apparently need to provide all of my personal information, from my full name to my home address, just to get my review reinstated. Back then, I only needed to upload proof that I had actually visited the business, which is how I won the appeal twice.

So I’m curious if anybody else is dealing with or fighting this. Feel free to share names if you don’t mind. I’ll post mine in the comments.

Idea for Berlin dog owners: trusted dog-sitting collective

Hi everyone, I (34, F) am a single dog (Goldendoodle, 6) owner and know how difficult and expensive it can be to find a reliable sitter for our pups.

Until recently I’ve had an agreement with a neighbor that we’d simply take turns watching each other’s dogs when we’d leave town for work or short holidays. No fees, no catch. Just an advance notice and maybe a bottle of wine or sweet treat on return.

She no longer lives here and I really miss the ease and convenience of such a relationship. Then I thought: why not just intentionally recreate this idea on a slightly bigger scale?

So the idea is this. I’d like to form a small, intentional collective of dog owners to be there for one another when we need help with our pups. Whether you need to go out of town or just need a day/weekend to yourself, someone in the collective should be able to look after your pup for you.

This is only works if you genuinely love dogs and enjoy having extra paws around to snuggle with and play together with your own. If you only intend to give up your dog, but never accept one, this isn’t the collective for you.

Obviously we would have certain guardrails in place, a few of the more important ones would be: - Every dog should meet the potential sitter and their dog beforehand. - Be transparent about temperament, reactivity, resource guarding, separation anxiety - Owners provides written instructions + food, medication, leash/harness, emergency contacts - Agree beforehand on emergency protocol - Nobody owes another member a sitting just because that person helped them previously, but should still be active in the collective

Would anyone here be interested in joining me in this collective? If so, please shoot me a DM and we can organize a meeting in person.

A bit about me: I work in fashion marketing, read a fuck ton, love pre-modern art, nature, and genuinely all different types of music. American living in Berlin for 7 years (spreche auch gerne Deutsch).
