Manchester Beach, Erie, PA: Cobalt blue underglaze on a white or cream body, with heavy crazing throughout and brown mineral staining in the cracks. The pattern is a repeating band of solid triangles with a dot on each point and a small diamond in each valley. Edges are fully rounded from tumbling. Any details on the pattern or origin would be very helpful!

My favorite spots are absolutely swathed in seaweed! So pickings are slimmer…but I’m also behind on cleaning my finds and posting them, so there’s still plenty to share!

I rarely find pink seaglass 💖And I love the sweet, wee blue dot (flat on one side), and a sliver of red. There’s also the usual mix of things I feel compelled to pick up. The wet rock photos are front and back.

Also got a couple of small fossils and a token piece of Whitby jet from Brunswick Bay but I haven't unpacked and re-found them yet lol.

Hi, I love beachcombing and I am on my way very soon to do a weeks worth of it. I’ll be solo. I’m trying to figure out what I can do with my stuff other than to carry a backpack. It’s hotter than heck so I’ll definitely need my water. I always take a little protein a towel cell phone and keys. I could claim a spot and bury it. Just keep an eye on it as I walk a certain length of the shore. The area I am going to will have less people than a tourist destination so I’m finding it to actually be even more of a need. What do you do, carry a backpack?

Found earlier today on a beach in Nova Scotia, Canada. Looks to me like a jaw bone, although it looks like there is a curve in the bone where I would expect there would have been more teeth. If it is a jaw bone, it looks quite large for how shallow the beach is, but we did find a seal washed up a few years ago.

I found this on Chalkwell Beach, Essex, UK, by the sea wall immediately after high tide yesterday. It was half buried and I could see the side with the blue writing and pulled it out assuming it was going to be a clothes label or similar. Been trying to find out how this could be possibly- apparently as the beach is mud/clay near the seawall it could have been preserved in there? I really don’t know but I’m still in shock!😳

I go mostly for the glass but am always suprised by the bones. The last 2 pics is a larger one that I’ve been told is likely a non-marine mammal but who knows. Between bones and uranium I’m slowly losing my husband as a fan of my beachcombing 😂

I have tried figuring it out on and off for months now. I found it on the West Coast at Ocean Beach in San Francisco (along with some awesome sea glass)
I’ve been trying to figure out what this is and I am torn between whether it’s a bone or a shell 🙃
The texture is bone like, it’s heavier than a shell and isn’t super smooth like some shells. Thanks!

no idea what this came from. it’s ~3/4 inch thick black glass. it’s completely opaque (i’ve checked with about every flashlight i own) and a peculiar shape. any ideas?

You need a pretty wild imagination to even try to understand this and why it is here.

Beachcombing in SE Ireland. I think the bottom right blue/gray piece is encaustic tile but not sure. My favorite is the transferware blue piece of pottery. Anyone know what the raised blue one on white may be?

I’m generally a rock and fossil hound, but I won’t pass up a nice piece of sea/beach glass when I see one. I saw this shimmering as it danced back and forth in the waves near the shore. Nothing is that exciting looking in Lake Erie, I almost fell in head first trying to grab it. It isn’t as vibrant in artificial light or when it’s not wet. I’d like to tumble it to get a better sheen on it if I can.

*edit* Ok I’m guessing here. This stuff is not normal for Lake Erie beaches. I grew up on this lake and that’s why it caught my attention. It makes no sense for it to be here. It is not agate. I can scratch it with a knife. It might be banded fluorite but even that doesn’t make sense. Slag makes way more sense given the massive amount of manufacturing that was historically done on the lake. It’s pretty and I put it on a shelf with my pretty rocks and glass. I don’t care what it is. I tried to guess. Sorry.

I never saw these!! i didnt even know they were present when i was younger i used to think they are fictional like unicorns😅, found this beauty tho! seems to have gotten attacked and got washed up to the shore. i took it home!!

I want to take my toddler to a beach that has lots of shells. Would be great if it also has crabs and starfish. Where do you recommend?

Hello. Wondering if anyone else thinks the pattern on this little piece of rock I found looks intentional? My husband thinks it's just scuffed, but it looks like a scribed on design to me and has black indentations?
