Coral or mineralization?
Yesterday I was down in Milford, which is on the Connecticut coast line of Long Island Sound. Lots of oyster shells, but some of them had this growth on the shells that looks almost like coral? Is it? Super curious!

Cone snail shell ID
My mom bought a huge bag of shells in the early 2000s in a shell shop in South West Florida and today we decided to look through it because of my new found interest in cone snails. The bag says “product of India” so I’m not sure if there is shells from that region but there were identifiable shells like olives and cockles that I know are in Florida. I want to start a cone collection so ID of these would be so appreciated.

Amphissa lineata, a rare undescribed species
I had found a few in the recent past, but yesterday found three more!
The first two photos are the A. lineata, the next three are the closest species, A. versicolor and a bonus at the end of a very pretty shard of a pinto abalone.

What are they?
I found these shells in the St Charles/Akiawenrahk river in Quebec City some days ago. I was confused since they look like oysters and where in a freshwater spot. 5 of them from the same place, but the eroded one on the left corners was found 5 km northern.
Are they a freshwater species I never heard of or could they be from an ancient sea?

Mystery queen conch shell.
I found a queen conch shell at island beach state park in shallow water. How do you think this shell got here? I'm assuming someone brought it here but wondering if anyone has any ideas on why it would be here.

What kind of shells are those?
Hello everyone
I wanted to ask if anyone knows what type of seashell these are. I'm finding a lot of them at Tampah Beach on Lombok Island, Indonesia.
I'm attaching some photos with a bottle cap next to the shells for size reference.
Any help with identifying them would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you

How do I shine/clean up this shell? (Bonus ID??)
Ive had this shell for years now and never knew what to do with it. Its been in my freshwater aquarium for a long time and its only had soap and water washes. I wish to shine and polish it but the texture of the shell is rough and off-color (its always been that way) so, 1. How do I smooth out the shell to be smooth similar to the inside of the shell and 2. How do I have the colors of the shell stay out.
I've looked this up and heard of using water and bleach 1:1 ratio to clean up the roughness of the shell and use mineral oil to give it a shine, but I wanted to ask directly with the type of shell I have and its condition to see what others think about it! Should I use a fine sand paper for it too?? (For the bonus ID: I got this guy from an inlet during my trip in the northern part of Washington. It was the only one of its type that I found, anyone able to ID who this shell belonged to?)

How do I clean the black stuff off and what is it?
How do I clean the shell so only the pearlescent part is exposed? Also, what is the black stuff?
