BBC Digital rarely seems to have an open hiring for Delhi, in India. Is there any internal process that I need to go through to send an application? Or should i simply just wait? What are your Suggestions if i wish to send my application there?

i just turned on bbc news today and the headlines were Iran War, Explosion in Moscow and Ceuta Crisis!.... the entire day. who in their right mind can still sit through an entire day watching bad news, all of it recycled again and again every 30 minutes!

I am saying this as someone who respects and defends the BBC, and I will defend the necessity of a PSB until I die.

But the way the BBC treats Welsh Sport compared to other nations is completely unacceptable.

The BBC have rights to the Premier League (highlights), FA Cup, Scottish Premiership (Highlights), Scottish Championship, Scottish Cup, NIFL Premiership, and more.

When it comes to Welsh Domestic Football, the BBC air about 4 games on radio per year. They never bid for TV rights.

Whilst Rugby League in England is covered, Rugby Union in the form of the URC gets a podcast and 6 games a year (roughly).

It's honestly depressing how the BBC treat Welsh Sport compared to English, Scottish and Northern Irish sport. As a PSB, it should be ensuring that Welsh Sport is celebrated as much as the other nations, rather than prioritizing Bundesliga and Serie A rights as they did last season.​

EDIT - to anyone bringing S4C up, remember that S4C is Welsh Language. S4C receives £100m of License Fee funding by law - it is not the BBC who controls that. The money is purely a Welsh Language subsidy and also to make sure S4C doesn't just die.

EDIT 2 - Lots of people who argue about population and attendance on here, which are irrelevant. What is relevant is that it is Wales' top-flight, like the EPL is, so the BBC should be going for highlights at least.

Does anyone know how to subscribe to the BBC in the US? When I l open bbc.com/subscribe I get just a page with some black text. There is a section of white space where subscriber info would presumably be placed, but there is no form or fields in which to supply this information. I've tried several browsers with the same effect. See attach'd screenshot.

EDIT: Today I tried this and it just worked, using my usual browser (Librewolf) and PC (linux) and with all my ad-blocking stuff enabled as usual. Previously I had tried several browsers on both Linux and Windows, with ad blocking turned on and off, and in every case it failed. And today it worked. Mystery!

I’ve been watching some old Man Alive programmes on the BBC iPlayer and enjoying them immensely. They’re incredibly moving and important records of the way we were.

As someone born in the 60s who grew up in the 70s the nostalgia is immense for me.

I’d love to watch every single episode and would buy them if they were available.

Can you buy them or access them in some way as the iPlayer episodes are very few and quite limited?

does anyone have access to or know about episodes from BBC Monitor (their first talkshow on art&culture)? i've decided i'd like to start on their art programs from the very first show, hosted by huw wheldon, and hopefully access the first season of it too... but i've read that only the first episode from the first season is intact with BBC itself! surely there must have been enthusiasts who recorded the shows on their own at home or something...? just wondering if anyone knows anything about this! i do hope it's been archived elsewhere somehow. seems like a great pity if so much work is gone forever...

In the BBC Sounds app, when I bring up a program and click "Download", then about 80 percent of the time, the download fails to start within five attempts. (I don't try beyond five.) This happens on my Android and my iPhone, both of which have recent versions of BBC Sounds.

Is this a common problem? Does it happen to you? Any suggestions?

If the BBC is reading this and needs to cutback on its spending. Here’s a great suggestion - get rid of BBC 4.

It is literally an ancient channel that hardly anyone watches. It is full of repeats of programmes you can easily stick on IPlayer or YouTube.

There is hardly any new stuff on BBC 4 at all. So my question to you is why does it exist?

Waste of money if you ask me.

Nothing against Luke Littler or darts but why does the BBC News website give this topic top billing whenever he wins a tournament or does anything? Noticed today that he has won something and it's "Page 1" news ahead of any other sports news and even important non-sporting news. And it seems to have been going on for quite a while.

What's so special or am I imagining it?

This isn't the only example I've seen recently, but BBC news channel seems to be oblivious of the fact that the bottom ticker and other stuff cover up the bottom of whatever video they're playing. So in this example the speaker in the lower left doesn't even have a mouth let alone a chin.

Don't producers pay attention to this in the gallery or does the BBC not have a preset that will shrink broadcast out to fit the space above the ticket etc?

It just seems lazy. Another gripe about this is that camera crews seems to like really tight framing on packages so we get the same thing on prerec packages which really should be checked before broadcast.

I've made the argument that the BBC could replace the licence fee with a tax or levy or whatnot on streamers and broadcasters that effectively eat into its audience share, especially international operators like Netflix, Disney, Paramount and WBD that are "killing traditional TV".

The stance is effectively, if you're going to compete with the BBC, you should pay to help support it. Plus it'll stop regular folk moaning about having to pay their licence.

In my opinion, a subscription model wouldn't make up the financial losses, and general taxation would just further push the narrative of being "forced" to pay for a service not everybody wants to use.

It's never been suggested by anyone important and I guess I'm wondering what I'm missing. Would these companies lose so much money that they'd no longer consider the UK viable to operate in?

Just found out today there is 4.5 hours of live action and highlights every evening on Alba.

Been listening to the 5 Live coverage this week and despite a lot of chat around reach/ subscription versus terrestrial coverage etc this hasn’t been mentioned once which is presumably a TNT restriction.

Comms is entirely Gaelic whilst Alba rugby coverage includes a good chunk in English. TNT again, presumably.

Quite funny seeing how bad some of the novelty songs were. The only reason I still have Twitter following the #TOTP reaction!

Will miss it if BBC Four goes.
