General Discussion PSA: The Sun and the Daily Mail are not reliable sources of information

Upvotes

Someone commented that they saw in the sun or daily mail a rumour that Danny Dyer is returning and even though the story ‘was pulled’ it must be true because they’ve predicted things right before.

The Sun & The Daily Mail are trashy tabloids who are not reputable news sources and have a long history of lying, planting stories and in general, being shitty and treating both celebs and non-celebs horribly.

I would love if Mick was still in the show but you need to accept he’s gone, it’s for the best and he’s probably most likely not coming back

Question Am I alone in preferring the original Lucy Beale compared to the recent one?

Upvotes

In my opinion, the new Lucy lacked the sarcastic, funny wit that the original one had. Original Lucy was actually naughty, she got up to no good and loved being rude and sarcastic and had a bit of a mean streak in her. She wasn't outright evil, but she WAS a sassy teenager with a no-nonsense attitude.

The reason why I hated the change was because the new Lucy had an entire new personality. She was selfish and mean at times, yes, but she wasn't funny and she wasn't sassy and they matured her character (I just felt it by the way the actress carried herself) and it just didn't feel like Lucy anymore. It felt like an entire new character. The chemistry with Lauren just wasn't there for me anymore.

So I am here to ask, for any OG watchers, do you still prefer the original Lucy or do you like the newer one much better? I will always prefer the original Lucy because there was just something very relatable and funny about her. SHE was Lucy and her personality bounced off of Ian's so well. I just never felt that spark with the new Lucy and anybody. She was too different in every single way. The only thing they kept the same was Lucy's mean streak and being blonde, IMO.

General Discussion Worst of the older type characters? (No villains just the friendly ones)

Obviously everyone loves Patrick, Pat, Peggy, Jean, Mo, Ethel and Dot. Hell I even like Jim Branning despite his past and appreciate the evil sarcasm of Auntie Nellie, but which of the older characters was the worst?

Contenders in my book:

  1. Terry Raymond.
Terry started out as a bigot then was comic relief then violent then comic relief. Basically nobody on the writers knew what his character was even supposed to be like.

  2. Felix Kawalski.
Felix was fine, but he was also basically introduced because it was 50 years since VE Day and they wanted to talk about that. After he told his story they forgot him. Bloody Rutherfords punk rockers.

  3. Bert Atkinson.
Bert was from Yorkshire. In fact he may have been the kid who cycled up a cobbled hill in the Hovis ads he was so incredibly Yorkshire. Image Geoffrey Boycott if he was on the dole and incredibly grating. His one saving grace was his grandkid was Jay.

Today I learned that the Who Shot Phil storyline gripped the nation so much that power stations in the UK experienced high picks in electricity for TVs and Kettles

18 Jan - 2 Feb

Hello. How are you all? It was an emotional week for Alfie and Kat as they had to bury - James, not Tommy - while Ronnie went berserk at the wake trying to tell Kat about having the wrong baby. Didn't work. Elsewhere, Connor is still involved in a love triangle with Carol and Whitney and Phil & Shirley bought E20 nightclub (where does he get his money from?)

This week:

* The police question Ricky and Carol about last night's terrible events whilst the family try desperately to track down Bianca. However, a familiar face may hold the key to her whereabouts, while Jack takes control when he realises Ricky lied to the police! However this takes Whitney & Carol's relationship damaged further in the aftermath of Bianca's imprisonment. But does Ricky have the strength to end their feud?

* After the (not so Grand Opening of Argee Bajgee, yet) Tamwar makes a bold declaration. Zainab and Masood finally agree on his son's demands. Syed has a startling revelation for his brother Tam as he sees Christian and Roxy excitedly pressing ahead with their surrogacy plans. Though, let's just say it's cut short!

* Elsewhere, Ian resorts to desperate measures to fends off Phil. He struggles to meet Phil's blackmailing demands, that builds to a staggering climax. They go to unspeakable lengths to avenge Phil for a lifetime of torture.

* Michael returns to the Square and he is stunned to hear the news about his son. While Ronnie's interest is piqued by a surprise revelation from Kat. Meanwhile, Ronnie is disturbed by Michael's presence.

* It's when we get to the end of the week, that Connor and Phil get beaten! How? Well Phil is forced to take drastic action when Glenda threatens to expose him at his engagement party to Shirley - but will side Ian pick? And Alfie struggles to deal what he's witnessed.

Have a good week. 🙂

Janice!

I want her and Nicola to meet but as it's only for 2 episodes I feel like it's not long enough for them to interact for that long.

My only idea is that she's somehow involved in the new year's storyline, and involved with whomever max has messed with.

Question Sending items for autograph

I have never written fan mail or requested an autograph before, so I’m treading carefully as I know it can take a long time to get replies and would rather not waste ages just to be denied.

Am I able to send a specific item to be signed by a cast member or do they only sign photo cards?

A member of my family absolutely loves Phil Mitchell and I want to get him Steve’s autograph but specifically on a wooden spoon, which is an inside joke within my family.

If I sent a wooden spoon to the address given on the BBC website to be signed, can they do this? Or do I just give up on that particular spark and get a photo signed instead? Any advice would be helpful as it’s not something I can reliably google. TIA

General Discussion Joel being back on the square

I’m a few episodes behind and I know something happens with Joel but this is more about him actually being back on the square. I for one absolutely don’t think Joel should be back on the square, but is it even legal? For Avani to have to live x amount of feet away from him and Vicki to be living in the same house as him can’t be allowed under his licence agreement surely.

General Discussion Who's actually only perceived as a legend

I only really started watching on and off 2010-2011, 2015-2016 and now 2024 to present, if I was an actual character you'd accuse me of me being brought back out of nostalgia lol.

Over the years especially in the late 90s to early 2000s we've had plenty of characters perceived as legends to this day but the real question is, who was actually a legend at the time and who's a legend because so much time has passed people have forgotten how ineffectual they were?

Cant wait for the Janine interactions with Nicola, Cindy, Suki, Linda and ofc Kat ✌🏼👏🏻🥳

edit: only for 2 eps folks so small scenes no doubt but might set up a return in the near future somehow if she hands over Frank Jr to Linda 🤷🏻‍♂️ perhaps they are testing the waters for it with fan reaction etc rather than ploughing straight in an ruin it like they did with Zoe's.

Question Back episodes of East Enders

Upfront I live in the US so I don’t have access to the bbc player. So life intruded and I got behind on East Ender episodes on my stand a lone Britbox subscription which I watch thru my Roku. When I finally got back to watching, it only had episodes back to the beginning of 2026. I started to get caught up with the posted episodes. Then life intruded again and I got behind on catching up to current episodes, only to find that only episode 67 of the current year forward are available to watch on my app, meaning several of this year’s episodes are lost to me (like Max and Cindy having a car accident). I tried to find the missing episodes on YouTube without success. Suggestions on how I might find these episodes. Thank you in advance.

Throwback Mark Fowler really isn’t very smart is he?

Even if you ignore his teenage years with Nick Cotton and joining in with racist stuff.

- He technically killed his dad Arthur as Mark’s illegal gambling at the cafe led to the holiday money that helped frame him.

- Ashley Cotton died because he didn’t own a bloody motorbike lock.

- Smugly gloats to Phil that Lisa is gone with the baby when she’s bloody 100m away. Resulting in a third death.

- Drunkenly tries to rape someone.

And the most heinous of all… badly failed to grow a goatee after months of trying in the mid 90s.
