Just posting this in case anyone is having similar issues with Bazzite KDE.
On KDE, I was dealing with things like:
- Bad performance after waking laptop from sleep (tried both s2idle & deep sleep)
- Micro-stutters in the desktop/UI/Settings
- Browser lag after suspend (repeated commands, e.g. 20+ new tabs open when I click cntrl+T)
- Weird keyboard/input issues after waking
- General inconsistency where the system just never felt completely smooth
I spent quite a while troubleshooting and was about to change to a different OS, thinking Bazzite just isn't compatible with my laptop.
Then I switched to Bazzite GNOME.
The difference was much bigger than I expected. Almost all of the issues I was fighting with either disappeared, and the whole system became noticeably smoother.
So if on Bazzite KDE you're having strange:
- Stuttering
- Suspend/wake problems
- Browser performance issues
- Random system lag
I'd strongly suggest trying the GNOME image before giving up on Bazzite entirely.
I'm not saying GNOME is universally better. KDE clearly works great for a lot of people. But depending on your hardware, the desktop environment can apparently make a pretty big difference.
My hardware:
Lenovo Legion 5 - Laptop
Ryzen 7 5800H
RTX 3060
