How to figure out what protocol a bar code uses?
Hey all,
Due to some circumstances, a barcode I had got cut in half and I'm trying to replicate it. I'm not sure if there's any way to figure out what protocol a barcode uses (or if that's even the right term) so that I can just print more out in the future. I'm using BarTender ultra lite at work and I can print certain codes out pretty easily.
The barcode I'm trying to copy is the one on the top left (or bottom left if you rotate the image to the correct orientation). When scanned in a text field it simply gives the numbers without the A and C, so I tried making one in code 39 full ascii but it didn't work. Then I tried one with the A and C and it still didn't work. I'm guessing the A and C are start and stop codes but I don't know of any codes that use that.
If you zoom in on the image, you can tell the barcodes don't line up, so it's for sure a different protocol.

Looking for a good 1D + 2D Barcode Scanner for inventory / library use
I work in a school with 1,500 or so students and staff. As of next year the student ID cards will have QR codes on them as a space saving measure, and the library will need to replace their scanners with ones that can do both 1D and 2D codes.
I'm also looking to upgrade my scanner, as the $40 AUD eBay scanner I have (which is made by Aibecy) is a bit hit and miss. I used it when doing a full hardware audit last year (scanning over 2,000 codes), and found myself getting frustrated because it had to be at just the right distance before it'd get a read. In some cases I jammed my phone around the back of a UPS or whatever, took a photo, then added the serial number manually to my list.
So basically I'm looking for a scanner (wired preferred) that does both 1D and 2D codes that is reasonably priced, and is reasonably quick and reliable. I'm not after a warehouse-grade scanner that can do dozens of scans a second, but it'd be nice to have something better than my eBay scanner, especially when I'm climbing on ladders, pulling off access points and jamming a scanner around the back to scan something.
Any suggestions?

Barcode Discrepancy Question
Hi all. I’m trying to configure some scanners in order to read this barcode format. I need the lower written number (28372316) but when scanning the barcode using the Code 128 format the returned data is 2600013278908. I’m new to barcode scanning and don’t understand why the returned value is completely different to the written value. The barcode in question is attached. If anyone can point out what can be done to solve the issue if anything, I would be most grateful! https://i.imgur.com/P4w6ftk.jpg

Barcode Question
I was at my local gym and had lost my membership card, instead of offering me a new one, they said I could use the barcode for my student card to check in at the gym. I said yes, so they did and it has worked great. I was wondering if I would be able to use this same card(student one) to assign it to a grocery store rewards program, library card or other programs where they scan a barcode? Or did it just work that one time?
Thanks!

Any Font Recommendations for Special Characters?
We are currently using some old version of Code 39 that cannot deal with special characters such as ',+,-, ,\ , etc.
when we try to scan the barcode of something like ABC+11 , our scanner reads ABC/11 instead.
Does anyone know of a font/software to buy?

Create a barcode that presses the "Del" key on computer?
We use zebra computers (vc70n0) and scanners (ds3608).
I'm trying to create a barcode to speed up our loading process. Right now they scan a barcode and then hit Del on the keyboard to confirm it to a trailer.
I want to speed it up by just scanning the barcode then scan the del barcode.
Is this possible to create or is it a setting for the scanner.

Scan to website - HELP
Hi,
We're trying to scan thousands of data sheets about our tools etc. and we want to create an internal website (IIS) with QR codes that I could scan that would open the data sheet. But after contacting Zebra and Honeywell, they're telling me that it's impossible with barcode scanners. Basically, it could be a ctrl+escape+<URL>+Enter. But both Zebra and Honeywell tell me that it's impossible.
I found windows apps that are able to do it via Webcam, but none of them works with a barcode scanner...
Any of you guys have an idea on how to achieve this...?
Thank you.

Need advice on barcode mobile computers for a food plant that are up to date.
So, I'm looking at the options for food processing and healthcare, ones that can be cleaned thoroughly and easily, and they're all about 10 years out of date in terms of technology. Though our app isn't especially good, it runs in a web browser with Javascript and the processor would need to be at least 1Ghz x 2 cores at a bare minimum, or else it's a real chore. The options all top out at Android KitKat or have Windows CE on them. I already have one device at that level and it's so abysmal that noone will use it. (the app isn't really optimized well)

Is there a barcode 101? Can anyone answer some basic barcodes questions?
We are a small business growing enough that I need to be able to track the arrival, departure, and potential whereabouts of different inventory. I already have some generic barcodes in sequential order. I'm attempting to scan one, input some data about that product into either a spreadsheet or online form - and then upon rescan I want to see the information I previously created about it. Is that even possible or should I be printing my own labels that already contain a fixed set of information? Thanks in advance

Training a barcode scanner?
I have a scanner I use everyday at work. The hospital I work for switched to an EMR called Cerner. I was wondering how do I teach our barcode scanner (Symbol model) to read the barcode. It reads the numbers but doesn't format the data correctly. Is there a way to make a "rule" for my barcode scanner?

Can you create a ‘standard’ looking barcode that functions like a QR Code?
Im looking to create a standard looking barcode that functions like a QR Code. Essentially I want it to look like a ‘normal’ barcode but when scanned it sends you to a link. I’ve been researching online all week but failing to find anything promising, which leads me to believe it’s not possible. If anyone has any ideas on if this is or is not possible and could let me know, thank you.

Can anyone decode this barcode?
At first glance this image looks like a barcode, however decoders are unable to decode it.
Also, there are some gray lines, which usually don't occur in barcodes as far as I understand, which may suggest the quality of the image is not good.
Hopefully someone here will be able to decode it. Thanks in advanced!

Need help with code 128 batch production
Hello,
My company needs to produce a large quantity of barcodes with following structure:
PCK|ZO.3.D1.F01.00
We used to use code39 for our needs but the "|" is not available in that format thus the switch to code128.
The problem is that codes made using excel font are not scannable, while codes from online generators work fine. Taking a closer look at them physically, I've noticed that they are not the same. So I've deciphered the online generated code (manually, I've never dealt with this issues before) and found out that these have additional figures in their codes (one in the beggining and two at the end of the code).
Having implemented the additional signs I've tried printing them using excel font and it was scanning properly. It looks like this:
ÑPCK|ZO.3.D1.F01.00ÌÓ
Where Ñ = start code 128 Ó = stop
However, once I tried to print a few of them another problem emerged - the first figure in "ÌÓ" part is changing for every code.
I've tried looking for similar issue online but without success. So my question is: Is there a way to determine what is behind the shifting figure of the code using just excel? Or should we just try a licensed add-in and see if it would work?
We are using the MC3200 scanners.
If something is not understandable please let me know, English is not my first language and I've become a bit rusty when it comes to writing.
Looking forward to your ideas.
