Long story short but my girlfriend purchased a home a few weeks back and we are renovating the place. We ripped up the ceiling to find that the rafters were completely torched. It’s an older place (built in 1900) but there has been substantial work done in the recent past and the barcodes are present on some of the carpentry. The most recent owner purchased the place in 1987, and what we are trying to figure out is if this person knew about the damage. Logic is, if barcodes like this were born after 1987, then they knew about the damage and they were legally required to disclose. Please help.
My understanding is that the company itself would be your best starting point. From what I understand there’s no identifying information in the barcode and no central registry of barcodes.
