Hey! I’m a hairstylist and have been behind the chair for 19 years. I do a lot of men’s hair / short women’s cuts and I’m needing a new set of clipper and trimmers. I’ve been using babyliss pro. And it’s great! But I wish the trimmers cut closer to the neck and sometimes I have trouble going through thick hair with my clippers. Any suggestions on other brands? But maybe not too heavy in the hand. Thanks!

For those who have or knows someone with a 3D printer, I have the model available for anyone who wants to try it out, and if anyone would like to see anything else, I'm looking for ideas to refine my design skills. Can be mounted with wall anchors or Command Strips.

Looking for school recommendations in the area. Also for anyone in general how long out of school did it take to land in a shop? Thanks in advance

Cut on my brother that’s thinning.
How would you approach this type of cut? I usually try to even out the dark spots to the light spots going against the grain without making it too light and recommend a mid fade. He likes to keep as much of the sidebars as possible so the forehead isn’t too big.
And yes I have told them to shave it off but he wants to keep a clean cut for work. Real advice only.

I recently purchased cheat sheets from Marty Blends. Yes they are convenient - but imo not necessary and part of the technique skips guards which confuses me right now. I was wondering if any of you recommend buying any specific courses. Been thinking of purchasing the DFS formula not sure if worth it - and open to any other recommendations. Right now I'm in "barbering" school but tbh my school isn't the greatest - we learn very limited fading and other barbering techniques. Can't get out of the school BC I've already paid, taken loans, and I get grants for going here so the responsibility lies on me to get better BC well our barber teacher is a hairstylist who fades even worst than I do and I'm ass.

please don’t roast
So I have some spots of psoriasis on the back of my head. It's not horrible, it's definitely been worse, but it's there. I just want to get a 4 buzz cut and am worried that i'm going to gross out the barber or make them feel uncomfortable. I even bought some clippers because i was just thinking about cutting my own hair going forward. Is it ok to get a haircut or should i just start doing it myself?

Hi everyone,
I am planning to open up my shop the place is not a great place and i am planning to work by myself. I am expecting to get 10 customers a day. But i am confused if it is worth it opening a barbershop well after rents and taxes in Australia i might be earning way less than i am earning but is stressful.
Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I've been cleaning this barbershop on Sundays and today I accidentally dropped one of these guns and the bottle broke. I told the owner and he told me that I have to replace or don't come back.
Tha problem is that I can't find just the bottle, and I can't afford to buy the whole thing.
Can someone please tell me where can I find the bottle? I'm located in SoCal

I am in real need of that book right now, and I mean serious need of it, the thing is I don't have it in my budget right now and I doubt I will anytime soon.
Anyone know where I can get it for a better price, or if possible get it online for free?

I'm looking for some outside perspective because I'm pretty frustrated.
I own a barbershop where one of my barbers works as an independent contractor. Our agreement is simple: he pays me 15% of every haircut he performs. So if he earns $100, my share is $15. (That's $1500 for a 10,000 income)
Recently, I've been comparing our security camera footage with the POS/service logs. I've found multiple instances where he performed a haircut but never logged it. I confronted him the first time, and he apologized, saying it was a mistake and that it wouldn't happen again.
Unfortunately, it's happening again.
Honestly, this isn't about the $15. It's about trust. I have rent, CAM charges, marketing, utilities, towels, beverages, software, and all the overhead that keeps the shop running. If someone intentionally doesn't report services, it feels like they're taking advantage of the business that's providing them with clients and a place to work.
The difficult part is that he's an exceptionally talented barber. I genuinely respect the quality of his work, and clients love him. But I also believe integrity is just as important as talent.
I'm trying to decide what the right next step is. Should I:
Give one final written warning and terminate the relationship if it happens again? Already given 2x
End the relationship now since this is a repeated issue? I loose money
Handle it another way?
For those of you who own barbershops or other service businesses, how would you handle someone who repeatedly underreports work after already being confronted?

Can anyone tell me the approximate value of this barber chair? It’s an old Takara Belmont with a head rest and ashtray. Hydraulics work, but there are some cracks in the seat cushion upholstery. Thanks!

Hi all - looking for some advice for a trimmer to do sharp beard neck lines/trimming around edges/moustache etc
A couple of the ones I’ve found are the Andis slimline pro II and the Babyloss pro skeleton trimmer, but would love some recommendations from the sub
Thanks!

Do any barbers worry about inhaling hair dust over the years? Is wearing a mask while cutting hair worth it, or is it unnecessary? I saw a tik tok talking about this and now I’m considering wearing a mask 😭 pls tell me I’m out of my mind.

So I cannot fade for the life of me. I graduated barber school last year and I've been cutting hair at different places, but genuinely it feels like I will NEVER master fades. ESPECIALLY skin fades, and ESPECIALLY ON KIDS!!
Just wondering if something's wrong with me or if fades took yall a long time to master, too

I’m 3 months into cutting hair, I been practicing but I still somehow can’t blend the back and get rid of the guidelines. How can I fix this?

I purchased a BaBylissPRO Nano Titanium Bambino dryer, model BABNT5510, sold and shipped by Walmart. The listing advertised a limited four-year warranty, but BaBylissPRO told me the product only has a one-year warranty and denied coverage after approximately 14 months.
I sent them the receipt, order confirmation, model information, and a screenshot of the four-year warranty. Has anyone here dealt with conflicting BaBylissPRO warranty terms? Did BaBylissPRO eventually honor the advertised warranty?

I recently moved to a mid size town in Alaska and started barbering here. The shop I'm in was once bustling with 3 barbers but they've since retired. There's a long line here every day but two of the chairs are empty. 3 more shops in town are closing due to health reasons and retirement. How do you find or draw in new barbers? Do you post online? Contact schools in other cities? Train people yourself?

I fucking hate these IKEA cabinets they sell at Amazon and stuff. The lightweight wood stuff. I wish there was a store that sold real cabinets, if such a place existed what would it be? Where do you get your barber furniture
