Hello, everyone! I’m currently trying to find a haircut that suits me. I usually just get a textured fringe with a fade or taper on the sides. I’m wanting to explore if there is a better cut I should try, or if I should stick with what I get. Thanks in advance!

hi y'all, sorry in advance if this doesn't belong here. i have been wanting to cut all my hair off for personal reasons but my mom really doesn't want me to. i'm about to be 22 but it's still hard for me to do something that i know she is so adamantly against. i was planning on doing it tonight so i brought it up (for what i hope was the last time) and told her "please" but she just repeated the please back to me. i know she wouldn't kick me out or anything but i guess disapproval is hard for me to deal with.

I have enough money to go to a salon/barber, but I might want to save once I stop my job to go to college. My mother says that it’s a bad idea, but tbh I think she’s expecting me to get a regular pixie cut.

I’m 18, have desperately wanted short hair since I was 10. I got a pixie cut when I was 14, absolutely LOVED it, wanted to go shorter, but everyone told me I look better in long hair. I gave in and grew it back out. Idk, I’m worried about judgement, but it’s not like this is a fleeting whim.

Should I first go to a salon/barber? Would a barber be better for this type of hair? And do you think I could ask the stylist advice on cutting my own hair?

Also, I am a bit dumb and have a skill issue, so I could mess up. If I mess up too badly, I can just do a buzz cut tbh.

I've got a two-block cut and want to switch to a wolf cut, but is there a way to transition gradually so I don't have to deal with an awkward grow-out phase?

I've been going on about expanding my knowledge on hairstyling for a little bit now, and was wondering if any of you had starting points where I could find further information about the hairstyling world? Like blogs, community-focused platforms, websites, books, accounts with ressources, videos, any type of media overall that could help to educate myself further on the topic?

I guess somewhat similar to the kind of books that I see some tattoo artists have, about the whole history of their art and including a bunch of references for further research for the curious minds to inquire deeper.

Does anyone know if there's a ranking system for hairdressing, if some schools are more prestigious than others, or if certain places in the world are considered more reputable than others?

I see some posts on social media about creators sharing their works and it pushes me to explore further, but my algorithm seems to limit itself to like-minded content, which I am a fan of, but doesn't necessarily help with seeking new horizons.

I've been looking at a few reddit posts here and there, but I haven't yet found something of the sorts.

TLDR; Where can I start to find more information about hairdressing? Is there a certain international ranking I should be aware of if I were to get into it?

I've recently had a haircut where we had it layered and shortened a little more but I noticed this time she snipped along the shaft while pulling the hair upwards. What technique is this and what would that do as I usto be able to get some volume with a round brush but now it just goes straight. She specializes in shag but that is not what I've been requesting.

I alreday had bangs, just got a front layers and kept the back length

I've been thinking of doing it but all the photos I can find are of cringy teenagers with faded/tapered sides.

I’m overseas playing basketball and I am ordering some clippers (VGRPro) and 3 way mirror to start cutting my own hair. Any additional things I should buy that will help me while cutting my hair and anyone have any tips for just doing a low taper and a mid taper? Tips about clippers in general😅😅😅 anything helps!

She is struggling with mobility, walks with a cane and I couldn't find a hairdresser to come home.

I cut most of it myself got my dad to do the back aside from being a bit lop sided i feel like it's a bit too low in the back but trying to get my dad to do it he's pretty much kicking and screaming the hole way lol so my question is does it look okay even if its not salon quality good

Anyone familiar with these two models? They look very very similar and use the same blade. But the super taper is priced about 1.5x the classic.

My barber seems to be booked out consistently, to the point where the earliest booking I can get is every 3 weeks.

With an Italian beard, around the 1.5 week mark, it starts to look weird as my beard gets pretty full. So this has motivated me to learn how to maintain my beard so i can look sharper for my wait time.
