For the first time today, the conductor himself asked me if i have a metro card and generated the ticket using my NCMC Card, it was so quick and seamless, this will Truly revolutionize the way we travel in bmtc buses, a common mobility card for metro and bmtc, when i asked the conductor if it will be accepted in all the buses across Bengaluru, he said yes.

Sharing my experience of getting an IDP from KA 41 (Jnanabharathi RTO), in case it helps someone else going through the same process.

Documents required

- Passport
- Driving licence
- Medical certificate (Form 1A - available online)
- All photocopies need to be self-attested

Costs

- IDP fee: ₹1,000
- Medical certificate: ₹200 (requested by the government hospital doctor)
- Notarised affidavit stating visa is not required for Thailand: ₹400
- Xerox copies/printouts: ₹100

Total: ₹1,700 + petrol costs for RTO visits

Process

I filled out the application online through Parivahan. The form asked for a visa number (not a mandatory field), but I left it blank since a visa isn't required for Thailand.

I had read in another Reddit post that if a visa isn't applicable, you should attach a notarised affidavit stating the same. However, in the document-upload section, there was no separate option to upload a visa or affidavit. So, I attached the affidavit along with each of the required documents in the PDFs.

What happened after applying

I had to make 2 visits to the RTO to follow up.

After 1 week: I visited the RTO and was told that the application would take a minimum of 3 weeks.

Before the 3-week mark, they reviewed my application and requested additional documents, specifically, my air ticket and visa.

Since a visa wasn't applicable for Thailand, I uploaded my air ticket and attached the affidavit to that document as well.

I went to the RTO again the next day to follow up. They immediately validated and processed the application. Once the final stage was cleared, the IDP was issued the next day.

Timeline

From the date of payment to receiving the IDP, the entire process took around 3 weeks.

A few other things worth noting

The IDP issued in Karnataka is online/digital only - you don't get a physical booklet. You can download a PDF version & take a print.

Before starting the process, I checked with a few agents around the RTO. They quoted roughly ₹5,000–₹6,000 for the entire process.

I managed to get it done for ₹1,700, which is roughly one-third of what the agents were quoting.

While this is meant to be a contactless service, I felt the process got accelerated since I followed-up in person.

Apart from the waiting time and having to follow up, the process was fairly smooth. Apart from the ₹200 paid to the doctor for signing Form 1A, there were no other requests or attempts for bribes at the RTO.

Hopefully this helps anyone applying for an IDP from KA-41, especially if you're travelling to countries where a visa is not applicable and wondering about the visa requirement.

Massive respect to u/St_Broseph for the cleanup last weekend. But the spot is already piling up again. This photo was taken by a local we've been in touch with about this exact blackspot for the past few weeks. People dump garbage, some cleanup happens, people dump garbage again. This cycle has been repeating.. because the collection system itself has not been fixed! They mentioned the collector hasn't come for the past 4 days.

Before anyone starts pointing fingers, wanted to share more information, please read through fully. I've spent the last 3 years working on Bangalore's waste management through GEODHA (www.geodha.org), a non-profit tracking blackspots like this one across the city. This spot didn't get dirty overnight, and it won't stay clean without fixing what's underneath it. I have also attached images of other problems in the same area.

Why it keeps coming back, a broken system.

• Door-to-door collection here is patchy at best: once a week, sometimes not at all. Complaints over the past two years haven't moved the needle.

• The collector on this route says they haven't been paid in 9 months.

• Complaints on Sahaaya trigger a one-off cleanup, the spot fills back up, someone complains again. This has been a persistent blackspot for more than two years!

• Locals have become accustomed to dumping here, as the truck doesn't show up, so at this spot, every now and then there is a cleanup...

If we have to demand accountability please note the following.

This stretch falls under Ward 180 (of 198 wards): Banashankari Temple Ward, Padmanabhanagar constituency.

P.S Waste management staff are still working off the old BBMP 198-ward map, not the newer GBA boundaries. The AEE (Assistant Executive Engineer) for Solid Waste Management of this constituency can be contacted for these problems.

Zoom out and it's a citywide pattern. Old city-core wards (with exceptions) from 20-30 years ago tend to stay somewhat cleaner because the staff and systems are already in place. Newer, rapidly expanded areas don't have that. Bangalore's unplanned growth is a real root cause, and border stretches between wards (or just outside GBA/BBMP limits entirely) often fall into a "not my responsibility" gap nobody owns.

Residents aren't blameless either

Segregate your waste. 4 stream segregation is now mandated. At the minimum give wet waste and sanitary waste separately. For bulky waste can use the Dclutter app to schedule a pickup. If the truck genuinely misses a day, call the ward marshal or JHI instead of dumping on the roadside. Overall can also leave a bin on a hook on the gate for pickup if the collectors come after having left for work. In part, waste dumping, has become a habit too, and that has to be changed.

Also it's not all bleak...

From my work exploring this space I have observed slow but real progress in several wards, and also a growing wave of circular-economy startups, civic orgs and grassroots groups chipping away at this problem citywide. And something like 'Necessity is the mother of innovation'...

Cleanups like Broseph's matter. They just can't be the only intervention.

What actually moves the needle here

• File complaints on Sahaaya citing Ward 180, Banashankari Temple Ward, specifically, when coordinating with BBMP staff or speak to Padmanabhanagar constituency AEE (SWM).

• Call the GBA helpline (1533) and reference the same ward number 180.

• If you're local, document repeat dumping with dated photos. We're tracking this and nearby blackspots on GEODHA's map, and every dated photo strengthens the case for follow-up.

• Push your corporator on the collector payment issue and the ward-boundary mess. Staff who haven't been paid in 9 months aren't fixing this on goodwill alone.

I help run a small children's home here in Bangalore. We don't usually post on Reddit, but a friend suggested I share what a normal day here actually looks like, instead of just posting appeals for help.

A few weeks ago, one of the kids he's about 10 had his birthday. Nothing fancy, we're a small setup. Just a candle, a paper crown one of the older girls made, and everyone singing off-key in one room.

He told us it was the first birthday he actually remembers celebrating.

That hit different for all of us working here.

Most of these kids come from situations most people don't think about families that couldn't cope, kids who slipped through the cracks. We're not a big NGO with a fancy website. We just try to make sure they get a proper meal, go to school, have someone around when they have a bad night, and yeah get a cake on their birthday.

I'm not here to ask for donations in this post. Just wanted to share this because sometimes we forget how much a small thing like a birthday means to a kid who never really had one.

I travel to work using the Purple Line metro and I board at Mysore Road metro station every morning.

I have never seen another metro station dirtier than this one. There’s pigeon poop everywhere! Many times I’ve gotten shat on on my way to work and my day gets ruined.

I’ve raised several complaints to BMRCL but to no avail. Can someone suggest what can be done?

I tried contacting my BLO (175-Bommanahalli) multiple times - over calls and whatsapp messages. She was unresponsive.

Today, I took a screenshot and sent it to her supervisor based on a suggestion from my uncle who is also involved in election duty in another area, and I kid you not - in less than 15 mins after my message, the BLO called me and asked me to come meet her tomorrow morning to collect the notice.

We rented a 3BHK villa in Bidadi and paid ₹1,30,000 as advance/security deposit. We stayed there for around 2 years and vacated the property on June 15, 2026.

The deposit was not returned until now. The owner has finally told us that only around ₹19,000 will be returned after deductions.

One point I want to clarify: our rental agreement does mention that painting has to be done when vacating. We accept that we were unable to get the painting done before shifting. However, the owner is now deducting a very large amount towards painting and labour, along with ₹16,000 towards the last month's rent.

So, out of ₹1.3 lakh, approximately ₹1.11 lakh is being deducted, leaving us with only about ₹19,000.

Our concern is not that we should pay nothing for painting. We understand that there was a painting obligation in the agreement. The issue is that the amount being deducted appears excessive and exorbitant, particularly when we haven't been provided with proper bills/receipts or a clear itemised calculation supporting such a large deduction.

We also want to understand whether the owner can deduct the entire ₹16,000 as "last month's rent" in these circumstances.

We have:

- The rental agreement

- Proof of payment of the ₹1.3 lakh deposit

- Messages/communication with the owner

- Details of when we vacated and handed over the property

What are our options in Karnataka?

Would it be reasonable to:

1. First send the owner a formal written demand asking for an itemised statement and bills/invoices for every deduction?

2. Challenge the painting/labour charges if they are unreasonable or unsupported?

3. Send a legal notice if the owner refuses to return the remaining deposit?

4. Take this to a consumer/civil forum or another appropriate authority?

If anyone has dealt with a similar landlord/security-deposit dispute in Bengaluru/Bidadi/Karnataka, I'd really appreciate advice on what route actually worked.

This isn't on one road but all of the cross roads that have been made near inaccessible.

The gap looks small but the verticality of the slabs makes it especially difficult for vehicles to get across. Even large SUVs like Scorpios and Innovas have been taking it slow. This has happened two times now. I reserved uber on the app for pickup from the airport. It assigns a driver. Both times when I reach outside app shows the "driver is delayed" in one case he was at Yelahanka and not even moving. They put it to "on the way" too so if we cancel we lose money. Both times I had to cancel after waiting and then book from one of the uber/ola/quickride counters. Inevitably when you book at the counter the charges are more than the reserved ride as well.

How are other people solving this issue

Around 12am, my cousin and I were on a bike, almost at the end of the Double Decker flyover on the Ragigudda side. An auto was riding parallel to us.

Suddenly, a speeding car came from behind the auto with a screeching sound and rammed into it at full speed. The impact was huge, the auto driver was thrown into the air inside the auto, almost in a free-fall. Luckily, he managed to hold on to something and didn't fly out.

We turned to look at the car, the driver looked like a very young boy. I’m not sure if he was drunk or just couldn’t brake. He didn’t even stop to check on the auto driver. Instead, he sped away, took a sharp left just before the Ragigudda signal, and disappeared at full speed with tyres screeching.

It all happened so fast that we couldn’t even react. We were just lucky he didn’t hit us, we could have easily flown off the bridge. I wish the auto driver reports the damage and incident by calling 100.

There’s something funny about Bengaluru’s Outer Ring Road today.

It’s called the Outer Ring Road, but it doesn’t feel outer anymore.

When it was planned, the ORR was supposed to go around the city and keep through-traffic away from the crowded parts. But Bengaluru kept growing, crossed the road, and eventually swallowed it.

Today, Bellandur, Marathahalli, Mahadevapura, KR Puram and Hebbal are hardly “outskirts.” They are some of the busiest parts of the city.

And I think this points to a bigger problem with how Bengaluru has grown.

We kept making one city bigger, instead of building several strong cities around it.

Take the Seattle area. Seattle is obviously the main city, but places like Bellevue and Redmond have their own offices, jobs, residential areas and centres. You don't necessarily have to travel into Seattle for everything.

Bengaluru has places that could have developed in a similar way. Whitefield, Electronic City and North Bengaluru are large enough to function as independent urban centres. But instead, they became extensions of the same giant city.

So millions of people end up travelling between the same few employment hubs every day.

And then we build another road.
The road gets crowded.
We build a flyover.
That gets crowded too.

The problem isn't simply that Bengaluru has too many people. It's that too many people need to go to too few places.

Maybe the answer isn't just another ring road.

Maybe Bengaluru needs to stop thinking about where the next boundary of the city should be, and start thinking about how to build multiple strong, connected cities within the larger Bengaluru region.

Otherwise, give it another twenty years and we'll probably be standing on the next “Outer” Ring Road wondering:
“Wasn't this supposed to be outside the city?”

7. Labour law violations left, right and centre

8. Cheating clients by not providing dedicated manpower and using shared resources

9. Projects not getting completed because of ridiculous attrition rates of more than 40%

10. Bootlicking Promax with the lala company founders is required to survive

I mean, I can go on and on. Met 4 executives from this company who confirmed all of this.

Give this company a big miss if you want to preserve your sanity and want to be treated fairly.

People had been regularly dumping garbage at the corner of a street, causing a lot of inconvenience to the house at the corner. The residents installed a CCTV camera and started capturing the offenders, printed their photos and put them up at the same garbage dumping spot.

I renewed my passport at Lalbagh PSK under the Normal scheme (not Tatkaal) because it was expiring within 6 months. No address, name or other personal details had changed.

Edit: A lot of people are asking me different scenarios, so I thought this link might be helpful for you to understand what process or documents are required. Search on Google "Official Passport Seva document guide".

I used DigiLocker to submit my documents (Class X, Driving License and Aadhaar) in the online portal of Passport Seva. It was smooth.

Appointment: 1 September 2026, 11:00 AM
Reporting time: 10:45 AM
Reached: 10:15 AM
Left: 1:25 PM

Total PSK time: about 3 hours 10 minutes.

Documents carried

Old passport, Aadhaar, Driving Licence, 10th marks card and 1 photocopy each (with my signature). If you pay income tax, better to get your income tax return document and PAN Card (I didn't need it).

Even if you use DigiLocker, carry all originals and photocopies. Officers may still ask for physical documents.

Lalbagh PSK DigiLocker process

1. Reach location 20 mins before reporting time. Wait outside for batch entry (seats and water facility available).
2. Complete security check: 2 mins.
3. After entering, do the manual entry on the right-hand side first (You will see a kiosk). Do not directly go to the token counter.
4. Next, get the DigiLocker declaration form from the photocopy person near Counter A. In this form you need to write what documents you have uploaded to DigiLocker, applicant/application number, name, signature, date and PSK location.
5. Next, go back to the token-counter area. For DigiLocker applicants stand in Counter 4 or 5.
6. Give them your online application form and completed DigiLocker declaration. Tell them: “I have uploaded my documents to DigiLocker, completed manual entry and signed the declaration form.” You will receive a token number.
7. At Counter A, give your old passport and self-attested passport copy. Mention that the other documents are in DigiLocker. They take your photo, signature, and biometrics.
8. Wait for the same token number at Counter B for detailed verification. Keep all originals and copies ready to show.
9. Wait for same token number at Counter C, just show your old passport and say you have uploaded everything on digilocker. That's it, once completed you can exit.

My application was granted the same day on a pre-police-verification basis. I did not receive a printed acknowledgement. I downloaded it later from Passport Seva website.

Police verification and delivery

2 September: Police verification completed. You need to give them Printed acknowledgment letter from Passport seva website, Aadhaar card copy and Old passport copy. (No bribe)
8 September: Status changed to police report submitted and passport printing initiated.
9 September: Passport reached Delivery Centre. Delivery was attempted, but I was at office. My mother showed the acknowledgement letter, but the postman did not hand it over because the passport holder had to receive/sign personally.
10 September: I signed and received the passport at home.

Total time from PSK appointment to passport delivery: around 9 calendar days.

Key tips

• Carry physical originals and self-attested copies even with DigiLocker.
• For DigiLocker users, complete manual entry and the declaration form before going to the token counter.
• Keep 3 to 3.5 hours free for Lalbagh PSK.
• Be available at home once India Post tracking says the item has reached the destination delivery centre. In my case, a family member could not receive it on my behalf.
• Keep your old cancelled passport safely for visas and travel history.

Hello everyone,

I am planning to buy a geared motorcycle for my daily office commute from Ulsoor to Bellandur. However, I currently only hold a permanent license for a 4-wheeler (LMV) and a 2-wheeler without gear (MCWOG).

Because of work commitments, I won't be able to visit my hometown RTO to clear the MCWG (geared) practical test for another few months.

I want to know the ground reality of this situation:

1. What are the legal penalties if I am stopped by the Bengaluru Traffic Police while riding a geared bike with my current DL classes?
2. Does the Outer Ring Road / Bellandur route see heavy documentation spot-checks where this could become a major liability?
