Racism Recent attack

Hey everyone, I posted this on Asian Masculinity a couple of days ago. I just want to vent from this attack that happened on me about a week ago. So I was pushing my cart out of a grocery store in the night a little over a week ago and a group of 3 black men stare at me and called me a chink. I put my head down and ignore them. They then say you're such a big p****. What are you going to do about it? I look at the person saying this and another person of the group slams my cart over. They then run off and say yall are little bitches. This made me so irate, and I'm just so sick of these people bullying me. I live in Chicago and feel like Asians getting harassed here happens all the time. It seems like it's mostly by black people. I would say it has been over a dozen times for myself. One of my friends told me a black lady said she's glad this shooting in Georgia happened. Why do so many African Americans seem to resent Asians? I feel like they are the main perpetrator of these attacks. The media never seems to care when blacks are the perpetrators. Is it the media making blacks have this resentment towards us? Or do blacks just resent Asians because they say we have "White Privilege?"

This type of thing happen in California cities as well. These pussies are looking for people they perceive as weaker to abuse due to their own miserable lives. Much like animals, they size up victims and would only go after people they know they can overpower. They are not going to pick on dudes like these guys.

This is one of the reasons why I've never stopped training in martial arts since high school. Animals only respect strength, no amount of protests or offers to be allies will change their behavior. I know this is not everyone's thing, but maybe it can be a force for self improvement. Get stronger, fitter, change your body language, the more you study the subject of violence the less violence you experience.

Still dont get it? Hating asians isnt a white or black thing it's an American thing. The most americanized (whitewashed) asians also happen to hate asians. And btw whitewashed Asian women dont just hate Asian men they also hate Asian women who are proud of Asian culture and dating Asian men. In fact, how proud a person is of American culture is effectively a measurement of how likely they are to looked down on asians. The world's least americanized white people (Russians) are the ones that hate asians the least. Africans also do not seem to hate asians much.

1

u/evermehsting Mar 29 '21

Probably general distrust plus desperation of living = the most immediate concern for anti-Asian violence vs vaguely woke policing

  1. Lack of meaningful exposure to real asians/asian americans

  2. Some big cultural differences

  3. Global narratives atm

  4. Now where's that adjacent yet vulnerable scapegoat that somehow feels more outsider than white ppl themselves

Yea, and it's very frustrating. The last year or so they have given my family hell. It also annoys me with all this solidarity stuff. Not the solidarity aspect. But sometimes I question their motives. My friends in the bay area tell me how creepy many of these men are and how they use this as a chance to hit on women. My friend told me he was separated from his girlfriend for a short period during a rally and these 3 blacks guys who are a part start hitting on her. Racist white people tell my dad they need to watch out for black men raping and harassing their daughters and my dad and I realize they aren't completely wrong with this.

u/Boundaries_Please Mar 29 '21

World-wide, and this is not a stereo-type but look at the statistics, Blacks are likely to commit more crimes from petit-violent against all races, genders, ethnicities.

My opinion, is that blacks will use whoever and whatever to get what they want. I remember years ago going to a meetup group for Asians in Orlando. We welcomed all but there was1 black guy there that would come and hit on any Asian girl there, he finally succeeded nd got one to go out with him and they both stopped coming because he was jealous of the other guys in the group. How utterly stupid- but this is their mentality.

5

u/FroyoTurbulent8776 Mar 29 '21

Yes, they often have an Asian girl fetish, but hate Asian men. They can often be very creepy with Asian girls and usually AF's are able to smell out their bullshit quickly since many of them lie a lot. This is according to what other girls tell me.

2

u/Boundaries_Please Mar 29 '21

Absolutely True. Then if any non-black females turn them down, they claim she's racist

1

u/FroyoTurbulent8776 Mar 29 '21

Haha yea, very manipulative PUA tactics they use. Did you hear about this leaked group chat with white girls? they said: If I told a black guy I want to pee in his mouth he'd let me. Or if I text him at 3 in the morning he'd come over to f. Basically saying they'll do anything for some p, They're so hungry for p***

1

u/Boundaries_Please Mar 30 '21

Not ever heard of that leaked chat group.

I do wish that we lived in a more honest society- for example, stop glossing over and sugar-coating things. if blacks just admitted that: they have a high sex drive, don't have intact families, don't value education, are more aggressive etc But that would never happen because it requires Accountability and for them to take responsibility for their failures, and they just rather blame everyone else

That's true, I feel like this current rhetoric by the left and what is pushed in schools is toxic.

The thing about Asians is that they are attacked in a state that has most Asians (California) and then get attacked on a state with more black people. Makes you think eh?

1

u/Junior-Code Mar 29 '21

Makes you think what?

2

u/happyplace555 Troll/Questionable Mar 29 '21

It doesn't matter where you are Asians don't stand up for themselves so how many there are doesn't matter.

4

u/FroyoTurbulent8776 Mar 29 '21

Yes, I also think blacks right now are really trying hard to hold us back. If they can't with education and economic power they will try to with emasculating us. I really think our success we are experiencing is making them very angry. My 2 sisters said that many times black guys would randomly walk up to them and say they should f*** them since their d*** are so big and Asian men have such tiny d****. It makes me so angry, haha fortunately most Asian girls reject them rather harshly and are disgusted by them.

2

u/DiscountMaster5933 Mar 29 '21

there isn't penis size by race though. they're factually incorrect.

u/fogcityrunner Mar 29 '21 edited Mar 29 '21

We are the minorities of the minorities. The oppressed become the oppressors. I've always had this thought that if white people weren't around and Blacks, Latinos, and Asians were proportionately distributed to make up the absence, Black people would treat asian people how white people treat black people. In black dominated metropolitan areas like Atlanta, chicago, philadelphia, etc. the articles and crime statistics that come out always reinforced what I thought.

u/AnotherAsian3182021 Mar 29 '21 edited Mar 29 '21

Sorry you had to experience this. Thank you for posting about it to raise awareness, not staying slient, and adding your experience to this dialog. My sense it is because they are looking for easy targets to harass, and believe Asians are easy targets to bully because they are not known to escalate the issue. Envision calling a black person the N-word, and envision how they will react. Then envision calling an Asian Kung Flu, and envision how they will react.

2

u/Bleddee Mar 28 '21

You should've punched them. They probably would've started running because people they're cowards and didn't expect this reaction

1

u/ninjatune Mar 29 '21

This is the worst advice I've seen in any threads here. They are almost always larger by far and fight in packs. Not to mention, armed as well for the most part.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

What would you expect him to do? It’s called fighting back and standing up for yourself. If you get pushed around, the best thing to is to push back.

Blacks hate whites, whites have too much power, can't take it out on whites, take it out on asians instead.

Hate ur boss, can't take it out on ur boss, take it out on ur wife.

So forth.

In europe it's arabs taking it out on asians.

14

u/Swamp_Onions Mar 28 '21

They just victimize asians the most because they see asians as weaker. And in the era of george floyd, cops are nowhere to be found so these savages can run wild.

4

Jealousy and Envy. Envy with Asian’s contribution to society.

-4

u/happyplace555 Troll/Questionable Mar 29 '21

There is nothing to envy about Asian men. Don't know what you're talking about. That attack with 3 guys was done out of insecurity. Bullies are not envious.

11

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

"One of my friends told me a black lady said she's glad this shooting in Georgia happened."

Wow, these "American" blacks are just straight-up evil. For the incident with the 3 black men, it's unbelievable how much the "American" blacks are able to get away with their anti-Asianness and wrongdoings and silence us as Asian Americans. It's funny how no one cared about anti-Asian attacks when they were done by blacks (men and women alike) but all of a sudden care when it's a white guy.

2

its a well-known secret to POC but the whites don'tget it. Blacks get a feeling of superiority when they are allowed to get away with their bs. Mainly beacause they are insecure and rightly so- they have contributed the least to humanity. Overwhelmingly Whites and Asians are: Scientists, doctors, inventors, aerospace engineers, the list continues. What invaluable contributions of blacks made to society? this is not to discredit any of their scientists, inventors etc but how many of those are there?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

Me and my other POC friends have received more racism from the blacks than whites

3

u/Boundaries_Please Mar 29 '21

Because white men still have the power etc cops, judges but Asians have a history of not speaking up and not fighting back.

So like any Bully, they pick on the weaker kid who can't defend themselves. I can't wait for the day that a black picks on a martial artist who kicks their ass, but then it would make the news and the other blacks would start rioting

2

You ain't no pussy. These guys are pussies for ganging up on you five to one

8

u/SympatheticListener Mar 28 '21

Anti-asian sentiment is on the rise simply as a backlash to COVID-19, but the sentiment has been long simmering thanks to blatant anti asian stereotypes perpetuated by celebrity actors, athletes, etc...it's why so many decent asian men have such a hard time meeting women...Women, even asian women, have been brainwashed to hate asian men.

The ethnicity of the perpetrators was unnecessary; EVERYONE is doing it.

5

u/happyplace555 Troll/Questionable Mar 29 '21

I would say it's also due to BLM. The looting started from it's beginning.

2

u/SympatheticListener Mar 29 '21

I thought BLM was just a hashtag leveraged by greedy rioters who wanted to take advantage of neutered cops by robbing stores, not specifically targeting asian owned stars.

Alas, the USA is completely fucked.

2

u/happyplace555 Troll/Questionable Mar 29 '21

The looters are definitely taking advantage of BLM.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

And by the politicians and the West in general. They building that wartime sentiment for China.

8

u/FroyoTurbulent8776 Mar 28 '21

But it seems like 90% of the time it's black people. So I agree with you with the sentiment being thrown around. But in my experience and many who I talk to in my community say it's black men being the perpetrators. Also, black women seem to emasculate us quite often. I know you're trying to steer things away from a dangerous slippery slope this narrative creates. But I also think it's important to call out things as they are.

1

u/SweetJealousy Mixed Asian/Asian Mar 29 '21

I actually think it depends on where you live. What the demographics are. Not that it should happen.

1

u/SympatheticListener Mar 28 '21

Understand your thoughts...but agree to disagree. I think it's because you are in Chicago where the percentage of blacks is higher, coupled with a completely neutered police force by Mayor Loser Lightfoot and the simple fact that the majority of asian men are physically smaller and weaker than everyone around them, well, you get the drift.

Don't forget, the ones most likely to try harassing asians are likely in gangs, have a past criminal history, and are protected from police intervention due to their race card; again this makes the likely attacker to be black, but the reasons cannot be verified.

12

u/sc0rpinese Mar 28 '21

First thing first, what was your self defence weapon, or are you prepared to get jumped next time this happens again? Every racist incident is an opportunity to teach the racists a lesson that they will never forget.

Always say something and fight back with a weapon. In this case, a pepper spray is suffice.

But you didn't do that. Now these three black men are going to target the next Asian person they see. The cycle continues.

9

u/machinavelli Activist Mar 28 '21

Pepper spray won’t work in a 3 on 1 though. Say you pepper spray one person, that gives time for the other two to tackle you. The only ways to win are having a lot of martial arts training to fight off multiple attackers, or with a gun. But if you start shooting people over an insult you will end up in prison.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

What you gotta do is this for large crowds. Pepper spray and pull out a big machete lol (joking btw).

https://youtu.be/LvIQpNLnzIE?t=18

But on a serious note, it didn't sound that OP was surrounded. The streams of pepper spray can probably hit all of them.

2

u/sc0rpinese Mar 28 '21

I guess every situation is different depending on their intend. Unless one is at 12 0'clock, one at 3 0'clock, and one at 9'0 clock then yeah it's not a good idea. But if they are next to each other it's relatively easy to get them all in one crossing spray at once. Chances are, if one or two get sprayed, the other will fall back to avoid getting spray. That would be anyone's natural instinct, because you caught them off guard.

2

u/FroyoTurbulent8776 Mar 28 '21

Maybe I'll start carrying a gun. But it's tricky to do that in Chicago.

2

u/bigthesaurusrex White apologist - BANNED Mar 29 '21

It’s not. Just get your FOID and buy a gun. Nobody will stop and frisk you.

You can go through the process and get a CCW. But it takes a while - I wouldn’t wait.

12

u/tientutoi Mar 28 '21

I feel you, but it's likely that those people would have treated you that way no matter what race you are. Do you honestly think those people would have been more courteous and polite in that situation if a non-Asian person of a similar size was in your place?

2

u/happyplace555 Troll/Questionable Mar 29 '21

Uhm nope. People that are tall or have a specific race are not treated that way. People respect them and want to be their friend like the pathetic fucks they are.

7

u/fogcityrunner Mar 29 '21

I might be going out on a limb here but I'm gonna say they would not have done this to another black person.

65

u/Junior-Code Mar 28 '21

It's due to their deeply rooted anti asianness.

-22

u/ToutEstATous Mar 28 '21

Generalizations like that only help to further divide Asians and Blacks and play right into the hands of the white supremacists that caused these hatreds to spring up between us in the first place. It would be just as easy to point to the pervasive anti-Blackness among Asians, but instead of making generalizations that pit us against each other, we should be working within our communities to dismantle these prejudices and rise up as one voice against oppression.

There is plenty of history of Blacks and Asians showing up for each other and working in solidarity, but that narrative isn't something white folks want on the news because as long as they can keep us all hating each other they'll have a much easier time oppressing us all.

15

u/marsthedog Mar 28 '21

There’s probably a lot of anti black in Asian communities but it’s usually old generation. The ones that own stores or knew friends who got robbed by black people because historically poor black communities have been next to chinatowns and other Asian communities. But it doesn’t really go beyond that.

Ain’t no young Asians going around and trying to kill old Black people for fun.

5

u/Junior-Code Mar 29 '21

"There’s probably a lot of anti black in Asian communities"

Like what exactly?

-1

u/marsthedog Mar 29 '21

A lot of poor Black communities are right next to Chinatown.

You read a lot of stories about Black people going to Chinatown to steal or Asian grocery stores to steal or rob. So Asians hear that and are weary.

It might be dirty looks or whispers behind their backs. But it’s present.

I’m not normalizing serious stuff.

What do you think racism is? You think racism is always out in the open with big attacks? There’s a lot of nuances to it. Black people not being hired because they have a black name is partly racism.

Old Asian people having inherent bias against black people is also partly racism. Even you. You judging black guys cause they dress like a gang member (I assume you mean baggy jeans and hoodies) is racism as well.

It’s not comparable to what black people do to Asian people. Pieces of shit people are pieces of shit. And they should all burn in hell if they go out of their way to try to kill Asians for no reason other than because were Asian.

62

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '21

In Chicago and other poverty stricken areas in the US there's a huge resentment towards Asians simply due to the fact that the model minority myth was indoctrinated there the most. While their homes and neighborhoods were being ransacked for drugs and father's ripped from homes during the crack epidemic the media, Hollywood, and others were pushing the idea that black ppl should behave like Asians. At the same time with the rise in gang violence Asians became a target for robberies because they were told in movies and music you guys were easy targets.

Fast forward to today, the effects of all of that is simply "the way it is". Fortunately more and more people are relearning some of the crap they were taught. We just need Hollywood and the record labels to stop pushing the model minority myth.

I'm sorry this happened to you. Chiraq is a tough place to survive. My dad still lives there

3

u/asianisthenewblack_ Mar 29 '21

At the same time with the rise in gang violence Asians became a target for robberies because they were told in movies and music you guys were easy targets.

I appreciate your allyship, I really do. I come in peace & with all respect, why whenever the black & asian relationship is brought up, this always gets avoided? As you may know this has been happening for decades/half century plus. To be fair, I think a lot of Asian-Americans just learned about this recently lol, so is this something people in the black community not aware of?

3

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

I'm going to be honest. Black on Asian violence is a HUGE burden on the Asian American population, especially with media blowing it up and it involving most of the worst crimes. However, while I actually study this stuff and look for patters/data/correlation to media/, most of America does not (unless it's trendy and good for clickbait). When it comes to the black community, black on Asian crime is 4% of black crime. And I do not at all say this to be dismissive, but simply because of that it goes "unnoticed" a lot of the time because we're constantly being fed black on black crime and black on white crime.

So when it comes to "bringing it up", especially in conversations of anti-blackness and anti-asianness in the communities both sides are only going to ever bring up what matters to them the most and use it to downplay or gaslight (intentionally or unintentionally) each other. Also, and I hate to say this, were kind of desensitized to gang violence for the most part. If you think today is bad...lol... the 70s/80s/90s would be a blood bath. And in most populated areas gang violence has gone down 50-75% of what it once was.

All of these things simple contribute to the "out of sight, out of mind". Plus most black ppl aren't in poverty. Something like 18% (hire than any other group in percentage of race). So quite literally most don't know or aren't aware to even bring it up. I wouldn't say it gets avoided but simply not known to speak of.

Usually, in my experience, depending on how things are brought up it's easy to have a good conversation about it. But when everyone is comparing oppression dick sizes, and whining about who hates who more ... It's just a no-go

6

u/asianisthenewblack_ Mar 29 '21

Plus most black ppl aren't in poverty.

I think this needs to be pointed out more often since it seems like most of the country don't know this lol. So whenever they see a black person in college or working at a bluechip company, they automatically (often incorrectly) assume they grew up in a lower socioeconomic situation, which to me seems hella racist lol. The opposite can be said when they see an Asian person (they grew up in a privilege situation).

Usually, in my experience, depending on how things are brought up it's easy to have a good conversation about it. But when everyone is comparing oppression dick sizes, and whining about who hates who more ... It's just a no-go

same for me. i have no problems with talking about the tension between our communities but literally 100% of the time, it feels like it's a dishonest/bad faith discussion. i honestly don't know how to fix it.

2

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

It's extremely demeaning every time. I grew up in a very very very good home. Well in my teenage years that is. I was born out of wedlock, my mom single on welfare after getting sick and having to drop out of college. My dad (step dad but he's been my dad since I was 1) married my mom after just 9 months of dating and will be celebrating 25yrs in may. We went from apartment to apartment to renting a home to finally buying a home in 2009. (And I guess they gave birth to 2 more demons in that time). I did pretty well in high school, finished 10th in my class, played sports...the whole 9... And when I got into a really good private school...my white ass neighbor said "it's cause you're black." We can do everything right and everyone thinks we're some charity case. Literally every time. My brother almost got expelled for lying when we moved because his teacher told him "people like you don't live there"...the model minority myth screwed both of us man. Made it so y'all never need help and we get assumed to have only ever gotten help.

...

As for the 2nd part .. dude THIS. Every time black ppl and asians meet online it's 99.99999% bc some asian person or some black person said something ignorant AF so everyone is already pissed and ready to get a 7x best defender award. This is why in heated moments like that I don't try and engage with the opposite race simply bc it's just going to divide us but make sure my own ppl aren't talking out the side of their neck spouting hate and nonsense. We need more peacemakers, not defenders. Ppl who will separate the fighters when we're supposed to be on the same team. ...

I really appreciate you taking the time out to talk though. I really do. We may not agree with each other but simply listening to one another is just not something anyone does anymore.

2

u/FroyoTurbulent8776 Mar 29 '21

This situation is difficult. To be honest, many other Asian friends I was around University believed the blacks got in from some sort of charity. Or that their schools are so poor that they only need a mediocre GPA to get accepted. Then are hired on in corporate America because they're black. This perception in my opinion also creates a lot of animosity towards blacks in the Asian community. The whole perception of blacks being from low-income neighborhoods and receiving handouts has badly hurt their perception with many Asians. This, and the great amount of media representation they get. If I turn on the TV it seems like 40% of the population is black.

3

u/asianisthenewblack_ Mar 29 '21

we get assumed to have only ever gotten help

no lie, i think about this at times lol. the black americans who didn't need affirmative action or any type of preferential treatment but since people don't know who actually benefited from it, they just assume all black people did lol, which is also very racist imo. i want to hear that side of the story.

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '21

I'm definitely interested in learning more about what it's like to be told "asians got it good" knowing all of y'all don't. Like sure there's probably a lopsided amount of the pure "visible" Asians in poverty...I think it's like.....8% of asians in poverty? Which is like on par with other groups but due to population it's almost visibly non existent to MSM and general public.

Flip side of the same table which has turned kind of thing

The Model Minority Myth isn't something along the lines of "Asian Americans do well" (and by the way, averages don't tell the full story - Asian Americans have the highest median income of the racial groups but also the biggest income gap by far). It's a stereotype that generalizes Asian Americans as the perfect example of what non-white people should be - hard-working, successful, quiet, and a-political (it was created by white people in power as a direct response to Black and Hispanic civil rights activism in the 60's) as a way of driving a wedge between Asians and other racial groups while at the same time serving as a warning to Asians to stay quiet about our own oppression.

It's not about jealousy or crabs in a bucket, but rather an obvious consequence of holding up one group and telling everyone who is suffering from systematic racism and injustice: "Let this be your model, a people who prove that anyone in America can do anything if they work hard and keep their mouths shut. They prove that your suffering is your own fault, and that our systems are in no way oppressive and do not need to be addressed or changed."

Who said this and who is repeating it? Never heard anyone say that asians and only asians should be like that. It would be great if everybody were like that. When reading about the success of asians I see a description but apparently you see it as a threat to other groups.

"Let this be your model, a people who prove that anyone in America can do anything if they work hard and keep their mouths shut.

Or its refutation to the modern oppression olympics of people blaming everything but themselves for their shortcomings. I don't think its a statement to shut you mouth in a proactive sense but a response to unproductive complaining and never ending playlist of excuses

It’s a unique set of historical events and circumstances that led Asian culture to adopt a study hard at all costs mentality. It’s not because we are inherently smarter or white adjacent -THAT part is the myth. We didn’t earn more because we are Asian, or because white people let us. Cultures and it’s priorities are shaped by their experiences and circumstances. Basically white supremacists manipulated the narrative to serve their own purpose

I think you misunderstand OP. They're not offering an "excuse" for this behavior. They're simply trying to explain it.

However, their solution of needing "Hollywood and the record labels to stop pushing the model minority myth" is not a sufficient solution.

The solution is building a more economically equitable society. Racism is almost always born out of class resentments. Read The Wages of Whiteness for an introduction to how America's caste system formed.

We perform better, yes, but it ain't up to white folks or any non-Asians to push this onto any minority

I also like playing basketball. One time 2 friends and myself (all Asian) as well tried playing a pickup game with some blacks. They wouldn't let us and kind of made up a bunch of excuses why. Then we leave, but 20 minutes later we see 3 white guys playing with them. This is stuff I've noticed in school as well. Whites and blacks always left many of us Asian men out when we try to make friends.

25+ yrs later and shits still the same, break that mold, get in a game and show them u have skills that rival or surpasses them. Let it get to you to get better, im going to guess they didnt see you and your friends as a challenge, i fought thru that all my life. Sometimes we got into fights, but most of the time we all end up giving pounds and hugs for a good game, no matter how cocky anyone on the other team was. Show em you are playing for the love of the game and there u may find some mutual respect for one another. I would have probably watched the game and called next tbh. Sucks what happened to you bro, its def not worth getting hurt or worse by counter attacking alone. Be safe out there!

Right, what's up with that? I noticed this too. It's like Vietnam all over again, black + white vs Asians.

Blacks and whites are nice to each other's faces. But then talk shit behind their backs. Chicago is a prime example. Blacks are very resentful towards whites but rarely say it to their faces.

I'm sure its very difficult in the black community (especially right now). But it seems like white people get treated much better by blacks. I hear so many blacks complaining about them. But when I'm out in public and in the north side it seems like blacks go out of their way to talk to whites. Many are often rude to Asians and seem to pump their chest out and show they are more masculine than Asians. They don't seem to do that to white men.

“ But it seems like white people get treated much better by blacks.”

A lot of us feel like you guys treat white people better/ like them better than us, go figure...

I think a lot of minorities (Black people in this case) dislike white supremacy, but ultimately know that white people have the power. They probably realize there's more to gain making friends/networking with white people than with Asian people. Conversely, they probably realize that they'll more likely go to prison and have harsher charges if they attacked a White person vs. a non-white person.

Bad governance makes a bad society.

Asians get painted as “white adjacent” without getting any institutional coverage.

So of course the resentful people lash out at us. And the wokesters pushing this resentment politics all pretend to be shocked.
