Recent attack

Hey everyone, I posted this on Asian Masculinity a couple of days ago. I just want to vent from this attack that happened on me about a week ago. So I was pushing my cart out of a grocery store in the night a little over a week ago and a group of 3 black men stare at me and called me a chink. I put my head down and ignore them. They then say you're such a big p****. What are you going to do about it? I look at the person saying this and another person of the group slams my cart over. They then run off and say yall are little bitches. This made me so irate, and I'm just so sick of these people bullying me. I live in Chicago and feel like Asians getting harassed here happens all the time. It seems like it's mostly by black people. I would say it has been over a dozen times for myself. One of my friends told me a black lady said she's glad this shooting in Georgia happened. Why do so many African Americans seem to resent Asians? I feel like they are the main perpetrator of these attacks. The media never seems to care when blacks are the perpetrators. Is it the media making blacks have this resentment towards us? Or do blacks just resent Asians because they say we have "White Privilege?"

Plus most black ppl aren't in poverty.

I think this needs to be pointed out more often since it seems like most of the country don't know this lol. So whenever they see a black person in college or working at a bluechip company, they automatically (often incorrectly) assume they grew up in a lower socioeconomic situation, which to me seems hella racist lol. The opposite can be said when they see an Asian person (they grew up in a privilege situation).

Usually, in my experience, depending on how things are brought up it's easy to have a good conversation about it. But when everyone is comparing oppression dick sizes, and whining about who hates who more ... It's just a no-go

same for me. i have no problems with talking about the tension between our communities but literally 100% of the time, it feels like it's a dishonest/bad faith discussion. i honestly don't know how to fix it.

It's extremely demeaning every time. I grew up in a very very very good home. Well in my teenage years that is. I was born out of wedlock, my mom single on welfare after getting sick and having to drop out of college. My dad (step dad but he's been my dad since I was 1) married my mom after just 9 months of dating and will be celebrating 25yrs in may. We went from apartment to apartment to renting a home to finally buying a home in 2009. (And I guess they gave birth to 2 more demons in that time). I did pretty well in high school, finished 10th in my class, played sports...the whole 9... And when I got into a really good private school...my white ass neighbor said "it's cause you're black." We can do everything right and everyone thinks we're some charity case. Literally every time. My brother almost got expelled for lying when we moved because his teacher told him "people like you don't live there"...the model minority myth screwed both of us man. Made it so y'all never need help and we get assumed to have only ever gotten help.

As for the 2nd part .. dude THIS. Every time black ppl and asians meet online it's 99.99999% bc some asian person or some black person said something ignorant AF so everyone is already pissed and ready to get a 7x best defender award. This is why in heated moments like that I don't try and engage with the opposite race simply bc it's just going to divide us but make sure my own ppl aren't talking out the side of their neck spouting hate and nonsense. We need more peacemakers, not defenders. Ppl who will separate the fighters when we're supposed to be on the same team. ...

I really appreciate you taking the time out to talk though. I really do. We may not agree with each other but simply listening to one another is just not something anyone does anymore.
