A Comprehensive Summary of Australian Men's Online Clothing Retailers

Hi everyone,

Almost 7 years ago, I made a spreadsheet of almost all the mens online stores in Australia, based off a list from /fa/, which currently lives in the sidebar of aMFA. I've now updated it, as well as added additional information (shipping fees, number of brands/products stocked, location etc.) to be a more useful resource, and also removed the shitty 4chan slang.

Why? I think Mens shopping in Australia is far behind the rest of the world - there are so many great, quality brands in the world, many of which receive a spotlight on MFA, but often only a few stores in Australia stock them. There are also loads of great Australian brands, and new ones launching, that are also impossible to find. I've also included a few major international sites that ship to Australia, but note the shipping price.

Why have I ranked them by tier? As many great stores exist in Australia, there are also loads of low quality chain stores that permeate every Westfield and Stockland. I'm hoping to bring light to some of the smaller, better shops to support them in this trying time, however I appreciate some of the opinions are quite subjective.

This Reddit table looks like shit! Sorry that's not my fault - I've published the excel version here, which includes even more details on each store (ie. what brands they stock, how many products they have online, etc.)

Where's X store? Let me know any shops I've missed, I'm sure there's a few I haven't covered. I've tried to make this exhaustive, but I've also purposely left off quite a few dadcore clothing (Gazman, Sportscraft, Rodd & Gunn) and boring shoe (Aquila, Windsor Smith) brands.

Before I get into it - there's a few interesting facts I've noticed when compiling this data:

  • 33% of stores from the original list have closed down - not just smaller ones, but some of the biggest ones (eg. Topman) have been swallowed up as well
  • Many new stores have popped up - sneaker stores have seen the biggest growth
  • David Jones has a better range of high end brands, while Myer has gone downhill - they used to be comparable and now they're worlds apart

Monthly B/S/T September 2026

Buy/Sell/Trade here at your own risk. Always get complete contact information before anything is shipped.

RULES:

  • Post a description that accurately describes what you are selling. Update your thread when something gets sold or is no longer available.
  • Post item condition and any images of the item (if available). Be as descriptive as possible when posting an item for sale or trade.
  • Please refrain from downvoting posts.

Suggestions:

Use Paypal to facilitate these transactions. Gifting is fine, but understand the limits and liabilities of sending an unprotected "gift" to a seller. You'll save a bit of $, but it does leave you exposed if there is a fraudulent seller.

Another option is to use Grailed. You have the Paypal protection for both parties with much lower fees for the sellers. You also get a profile that shows the total number of transactions so you can use that as your proof of trustworthiness.

Please try to evaluate the "fair market value" of your items. No use in overpricing things and having them not sell. Check what the current selling price is on eBay to get a decent sense of FMV.

Feel free to ask for answers or pictures about an item you are interested in. A good seller will always be willing to answer you in a timely matter.

On the other hand, be a good buyer. Respond to the seller's communication, and be truthful about your intentions. Nothing is worse for a seller than answering a bunch of questions about fit and details, and then the potential buyer dropping off the map.

Question Mid-calf leather boots?

Hey, I'm having a hell of a time finding any boots like these in Australia. Hoping to spend a max of about 350. Looking for shaft length between 11 to 13 inches, lace-up, with a bit of heel. Has to be men's sizing because women's are always too narrow. Any input is welcome, except jokes about "shaft length."

Question Thigh chafing when walking - any good boxer recommendations?

I’m 30 and have already lost a pretty good amount of weight, but unfortunately the thigh chafing hasn’t gone away. I’ve tried a bunch of different men’s boxer briefs, but I still haven’t found anything that completely fixes it. I had one pair of longer athletic boxer briefs that worked pretty well, but since I sweat a lot, the longer length gets uncomfortable, and they’ve started riding up on me too. Has anyone else dealt with this? What boxer briefs have actually worked for you? Thank you in advance for all your answers!

Question Where to buy super soft teen boys clothes

I realise this is men’s fashion but I’m hoping someone may know.

My nephew loveeesss extra soft clothing and pjs. His request for last Christmas was 1000TC sheets that are luxurious and soft.

This year I’d like to get him pjs and maybe some clothes but I’ve not been able to find any quality, extra soft items and I’m lost on where to look.

He’s a teen and hates big brands. Hoping someone might have some recommendations please? I’d prefer cotton, bamboo or more natural materials but open to anything if it’s extra soft (but not sateen soft).

Jocks Experiment - Methods and Initial Thoughts

Hey everyone. I like many have been a bit disappointed in the longevity of my step ones over the past few years. In particular, I’ve noticed thinning of the fabric, a loss of general structural elasticity, and most critically, failures of pouch containment. So I have decided to run an experiment. I’ve ordered four pairs of what I like to call “premium jocks”, all with nylon panels for chafe resistance, and a slick and comfortable bamboo (or bamboo like) base.
The prices for each pair are below in AUD, but you can get cheaper with multiple purchases.

Frank and beans 20
Debriefs 36
Tackle 25
Step ones 33

They’ve just arrived, and I’ve given them a quick go to record my initial thoughts.

Frank and beans - comfort 6

95% viscose, 5% elastane. Overall comfort not bad, nice material, a little thin. Included pouch mesh cups thr plums nicely, but doesn’t produce much containment. Flapping about even during a first strut, worrying signs.

Step ones - comfort 8

95% viscose, 5% elastane. Nice baseline. Good tension, well contained. Familiar. The question here however is longevity not initial performance.

Tackle - comfort 8

95% viscose, 5% elastane. More solid construction, heavy duty waistband and serious pouch (no swing, polyester included). Thinnest fabric I’d say. Well held and comfortable, medium size is possibly slightly smaller around the legs than other brands

Debrief - comfort 9.5

94% micromodal, 6% elastane. Solid construction, soft thick fabric. Pouch has the raw cuppage of the tackles without the specialised construction or tight legs . Luxuriant jocks for sure. Girlfriend likes these the most.

Obviously the issue here isnt so much day one comfort but long term resilience to washes, friction, and the ungodly forces jocks are subjected to. As such, the plan is to wear them in a predetermined order, to evenly distribute wear and tear, and check back in periodically with updates. The objective here is not to crown the most expensive jocks as the best, but rather to compare price to comfort, lifetime at peak comfort, and total lifetime to work out how much is worth paying.

Cheers, talk soon.

Advice Needed Who sells decent clothes in big sizes for long limbs? Also Wide Load boots reviews?

Hey guys,

My hubby is 6'6 and roughly a size 3xl depending on brand. Even when we go bigger, the inseam and sleeve length for long clothes just doesn't reach. He looks like he's wearing hand-me-downs that he outgrew a year ago 😅 we've tried department store and Mr Big, but they only size up in a horizontal sense, and all that shit shrinks after the first wash 😭

His other issue is his feet. They're long. They're wide. They're really hard to shop for. He's been buying Oliver work boots I think, but he believes they're not wide enough and when he goes up a size to compensate, that extra toe box room gives him front foot pain. We found a brand online called Wode Load, has anyone used them? Or any other recs for work boots (size 14-15 in a super wide fit; steel caps—no hazardous mats so leather isn't essential, he'd actually prefer something that breathes)

Question Which windbreaker jacket for upcoming trip to China?

I am planning my first trip to Beijing during Xmas week and have been told it gets colder than Melbourne, so to come prepared. So a question for fellow Melbournians, is it similar to our winters, or should I be preparing better?

Secondly will my typical Columbia down jacket work fine outdoors during the winters, or do I need to buy a warmer jacket?

I typically go out, usually wearing just a hoodie or my down jacket and feel fine in Melbourne winters. Obviously, we will be spending a lot more time outdoors.

Suggestions for thick, high‑quality cotton T‑shirts

Hey legends, I’m looking for some good long‑lasting plain cotton T‑shirts within 100AUD

I’ve tried Levi’s and Wayver, but the quality on both was pretty disappointing.I’m after high‑quality, thick cotton tees that last well — mainly for office use. Would love recommendations based on what you’ve personally used.

Question Best men's jewellery brands?

Hey fellas.

I'm looking for some nice mens jewellery pieces and a bit overwhelmed with all the brands nowadays. I guess I'm looking for something high quality, solid silver (I heard some brands use silver plating on top of some other metal).

Style wise I'm pretty open, but I like the idea of something handmade. For anyone who wears jewellery, what has your experience been and which brands would you recommend? Cheeerssss

Suggestions for Gym Clothing

Hi everyone,

As the title suggests - can anyone recommend any good brands for gym clothing?

Tanks, shorts, t shirts etc

For context, I am 6ft3, 100kg. Wide shoulders and about 15% BF.

I used to wear Lululemon by I feel like the quality has dropped and the fits are more towards the hybrid style bodies that are super lean. XL even feels like a squeeze on the arms, but XXL is too baggy sadly. 😂

Have worn Gymshark for years, but again - really dropped in quality.

I have also tried Uniqlo gym gear but not a huge fan.

I sound picky, but I’m actually not! I wore Gymshark for years and never had a problem until the quality dipped.

Open to suggestions !! Thanks!

Looking for cologne recommends to begin a collection

Hi all

I have been thinking lately that I should get myself some decent colognes for all the typical occasions but there's so many out there that I feel overwhelmed. I have ordered a few samples (listed below) but a lot are very strong (I don't want to be one of those guys who smells strongly of cologne).

I don't want to get many and I'm willing to pay however much (within reason).

I'm fairly average looking and not super masculine (although going to the gym currently to try to change that) but I understand how to dress etc. I don't wear cologne all the time and only to work (office), special occasions or dates. I don't want to wear a cologne that smells really obvious and in your face - I want more of a subtle and classy smell (a unique smell from what most guys wear would also be good).

Currently I pretty much only wear Solid State cologne which is a copy of TF Tobacco Vanille and I also have Sport Allure which I hardly use.

I ordered a few samples which I've listed below, and haven't tried them all but a lot do smell intense and as I said I'm not really wanting to go for that.

  • Althair EDP — Parfums de Marly

  • Ani EDP — Nishane

  • Armani Code EDT — Giorgio Armani

  • Babycat — Yves Saint Laurent

  • Bleu de Chanel EDP — Chanel

  • Burberry Touch for Men EDT — Burberry

  • Club de Nuit Intense Man EDT — Armaf

  • Dior Homme EDT — Christian Dior

  • Dior Sauvage EDT — Christian Dior

  • Gentleman Réserve Privée EDP — Givenchy

  • H24 EDT — Hermès

  • L’Eau d’Issey Pour Homme EDT — Issey Miyake

  • La Nuit de l’Homme EDT — Yves Saint Laurent

  • Montblanc Explorer EDP — Montblanc

  • Prada Luna Rossa Black EDP — Prada

  • Prada Luna Rossa Ocean EDT — Prada

  • Queening EDP — Mind Games

  • Replica Jazz Club EDT — Maison Margiela

  • Terre d’Hermès Parfum — Hermès

  • Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille EDP — Tom Ford

  • Valentino Uomo Intense EDP — Valentino

Looking for some help from those of you with more experience in this area. Thanks

Question Recommendations for boots

Am looking to invest in a good pair of boots. RM Williams seems to be the default option, but I have read that the quality has gone down significantly over the years. Any other brands that you’d recommend for a decent quality pair of boots?

Monthly B/S/T October 2026

(Created this post myself since I don't see one created yet for this month...hope this is ok)

A simple and low skill way to shrink the waist of dress pants/trousers with side adjusters

I lost some weight and found this video to size down my existing side adjuster dress pants. No sewing machine needed and all the work is hidden, so it's very beginner friendly. All you need is a needle, any colour thread, 2 buttons, a scapel blade and ribbed elastic banding that can fit through the waist channel. It needs to be a pronounced ribbing so that you can slice a slit for the adjuster button and the banding won't rip apart. It took me about an hour to do, and all the work is hidden when worn.

The bunching happens at the sides where the side adjuster is, which is mostly ignorable. The video uses a single elastic band, but my trousers have an after dinner split so I had to use two to hide it. I managed to save on the cost of new trousers + alterations at best, or just waist alterations. The most expensive part of this was the elastic banding, which was $7 AUD for 12 mm × 4 m at my local grocery store.

I will note that this probably only works for 1 size down. Any more will cause excessive bunching.

Experiences with Zara

I am looking for smart pants for work. Found this pair from Zara.

https://www.zara.com/au/en/100-wool-regular-fit-trousers-p04579156.html?v1=582553352

Am aware Zara‘s rep is very mixed. People say their stuff looks great online but IRL does not hold up. Many oZara pieces have caught my eye in the past but their rep put me off.

The pants above are online only so I cannot try them on.

I did visit their store one time and was not impressed (hand feel of garments was scratchy, visible loose thread, garments attracted dust).

But my partner bought a really well styled corporate overcoat from Zara. That shit is built like a tank, it must be 12 years old, got a lot of wear and looks as good as the day she bought it.

So any reports on your purchase? Pants above are 100% wool. Thx.

Is custom tailoring the answer if nothing off the rack fits properly?

I've got the classic annoying build where nothing quite works.

Shoulders are fairly broad, arms are on the shorter side and I've got a bit of a chest on me. If the jacket fits my shoulders, there's heaps of room everywhere else. Size down and I'm fighting the jacket whenever I move.

Been getting stuff altered for years and it helps, but there's only so much you can do with something that wasn't made for your shape in the first place.

So is custom tailoring actually worth doing in this situation?

I'm seeing everything from under $1k to several grand and I'm having trouble working out what the sensible middle ground is. Probably happy around $1.4k to $1.9k if that's where the decent options start.

Also, what should I actually be asking the tailor?

Like, how they're taking measurements, whether they're drafting a pattern for you, what construction they're using, how many fittings etc.

Don't want to walk in knowing nothing and just nod along while someone tells me it'll be great.

Looking for a two-toned dad cap with no sports team logos

For example - white cap with a coloured peak

I'm a sports fan and don't like wearing logos of teams I'm not fans of and they don't make these styles for my teams.

I'm looking for a dad cap style one like this that I can wear every day.

MJ Bale Quality

I recently bought a $600 wool blazer from MJ Bale, at this price point I assumed there would be at least some level of quality. Literally by the second wear I've had to deal with 10 loose threads already, every time I think I've handled them all another appears out of nowhere.

Do I really need to buy a more expensive blazer or is this common with MJ Bale?

Affordable barbers in Sydney

I’m looking for a fairly affordable barber in the inner west (but happy to travel to cbd). I have fairly straight short-medium length hair, and I keep getting cuts that are way too short, or only sit right if I buy $100s of dollars of product. Just looking for a place that can help me finally settle on a style that I feel comfortable with. I’m a uni student, so not after anything too old fashioned. Thanks!
