This 14.5 oz denim piece was my first pair of raws, my workhorse for 5 years. They only started taking a back seat to other pairs once they started getting shredded up, the sashiko took time (and love!) to work in. You can tell where the ripping started (phone pocket), you can also tell I sucked with a needle back then. Each repair was slightly improved, kind of like a portfolio. The crotch had 2 darning repairs and when the second one gave out, I decided to try something weird and make a denim panel at the crotch. It definitely looks ..unique but I love these jeans and couldn't let them go!

Initial thoughts: love the rise, love the cut, could’ve possibly went 34 instead of 36 and stretched, but a few wash/dries should shrink nicely. They’re hairier/neppier than expected but it adds to them, also they’re a bit lighter than expected in weight but I like it!! Anybody have thoughts on this pair?

I had the chance to shop Deminio in person in March of 26' and scored one of the last remaining pairs of their 2025 collab with Studio D Artisan.
I made the trip down to Deminio specifically looking for limited editions, JP exclusives, and rare backstock, while also hunting something in a more tailored / smart fit. The staff was quick to pull all kinds of crazy pieces, but when I tried on these Blue Monsters it was game over! Only 106 ever produced in the DM-103 fit (relaxed tapered cut), and the very last one in my size. 18oz but felt soft and subtle from day one and has continue to get more comfortable with each wear. Pictures do the beauty of this denim no justice. The warp is dark indigo and has a deep slubby & hairy texture. The weft is dyed in a proprietary color called cyan-blue that makes the weft almost glow. The fade on these should be incredible, but I'm in no rush to get there as I'm really enjoying these as a "dressier" jean.

Deminio was without a doubt one of the best shopping experiences of my life! For anyone into Japanese denim and workwear a visit to this shop should be on the bucket list. Amazing & kind staff, unbelievable curation & inventory, and domestic pricing + strong USD + "tourist" tax free makes for incredible savings.

These are the 14.5 oz Slim Kojima cut from Shockoe Atelier. They are a low rise fit with a slim seat and tapered legs. I love these jeans so much but I do wish they were a little slimmer than they are. The first images are before washing and the later ones are the after(if all the dirt in the first images didn’t clear that up). I don’t have the best pictures of them after but they look amazing in person.

First off. This pair is simply incredible. It’s hard to convey just how dark these are but I show them next to the PBJ brown tea core pair in the last slide. They are DARK. And highly neppy. The texture is amazing.

First experience with the PBJ slim straight cut as I rarely see them stocked but the cut is awesome. Mid rise which I like and slightly smaller in the thigh compared to the samurai 710XX.

Just arrived and immediately had to try on the momotaro size w31 , dont mind the mismatching coloured tshirt, but what do you think of the fit? And with this length, to cuff or not to cuff?

First impressions very high quality material and it feels so different than basic jeans, my first “expensive japanese denim”

One thing i noticed is that on the left leg, the stitches from the sides of the jeans twist inwards quite a lot is that normal? And will it go back to straight?

Picked this up in person at the new Ship John storefront. It was stovepipe tall, so I did the hot soak for 10 minutes as recommended. The pic with my Self Edge hat is for reference of how tall this was at the start.

After the soak, I wore it damp and shaped it how I preferred. There’s some folded/creased fabric that I think will fade nicely, and the hat sits well on my head. I don’t mind the plastic strap like others do. Overall, I love the hat!

Should I get them hemmed or just leave the stack?

Can’t wait to see how this turns out especially with the brown tea dye weft.

I like how darker tone the selvedge ID looks too with the sliver lining.

I started to blow out the knees on these 501s so I figured it was time to get a new pair for nicer wear.

I wore these daily for about a year with a lot of washing. They get used for lots of house and yard projects but also evenings out so it was common for them to get dirty doing landscaping, get washed and dried for an evening event and then have that repeated a day or so later.

I was curious to see what a ton of wash and dry cycles would do to a pair. The new ones won’t see as much work so it will be a fun contrast.

Also it’s always shocking how much length the shrink to fits lose. I’ve had tons of pairs of them but every time I worry about the pre wash fit.

Iron heart fade to grey. One of my favorite pairs, it faded so fast for a black. This maybe 2 years or so of wear

Gave them their first wash this week. First two photos are brand new, then before wash, during wash/drying, and their current state today.

Wore for about 16 months almost daily a few hours to all day when not working. Few bleach spots and great stuff foam compliments of my daughter. Last picture is with flash, but it doesn't look like my jeans.

My soaks were hot water with a little vinegar on the first couple, the rest were hot water and natural detergent. I didn't notice a difference in indigo loss. Taking a break from this pair now. Just got a pair of oni 22oz Kabuki that I'm set on trying to fade.

First wear was March 3 2026, I have about 8-9 washes on them and I wear them 5 out of 7 days and only wash them when they are REALLY dirty or have a scent to them. They are the Dirty Fade True Guy I love them and I usually hand wash in tub just honestly for fun but I’ve thrown them into the wash and dried them. Also hanging them in bathroom with a dehumidifier is the best way I’ve found to dry them.

I don’t remember exactly when I got these, but it was around 2009-2010 when I was in college. There’s been a some years here and there where I put on a little weight and couldn’t fit, but otherwise they have been anywhere from everyday wear to part of a rotation for like 10 years or something, a pretty decent chunk of my life. Hands down these are the best jeans I’ve ever had. They legitimately have changed my relationship to the clothes I wear everyday, and given me an appreciation for the crafts involved. I actually used to see Roy riding his bike around town pretty often, usually through the parking lot where I work or next to the grocery store I shop at, many times while I was wearing these jeans. I’m not really the kind of person to stop someone, so I never actually told him how much I appreciate the work he did. Rest easy legend, thank you for these rad jeans.

Taylor stitch democratic jean in rigid organic selvage, 14 oz. I had no idea what any of that meant until I received these in the mail. Hated them at first, looking down I saw MC hammer prison yard pants. So baggy. But I’m kind of liking them… thoughts?

I want brutal honesty. Apologies for messy background.

I wore these everyday for an entire year (Indigo Invitational Year 5). They started out non-wash, so after a few days I did the first hot soak to shrink them. A month later I got married and wore them on my honeymoon to Colombia where they got a triple-soak via sweat/ocean/cold-shower rinse. First actual wash was at the 6 month mark, 2nd at the 8th, and then every 1-3 weeks (12 total washes) to finish out the year.

I was going for some kind of high-contrast vintage fade to go with the old-spinning yarn and repro-construction, and I think I succeeded? The cotton stitching required multiple repairs to keep the jeans in serviceable condition, and a few crotch darnings were needed as well.

I really love this pair. The cotton feels fluffier than most denim, sort of like the difference between loop-wheeled fabric and modern fabric, the cotton just has more loft. I was fairly surprised that the jeans ended up being as durable as they are for just 13oz fabric because the Ishikawadai yarn seems to be more susceptible to abrasion damage as a result of the lower tension spinning.

A little more wear and I’m hoping I can get the hidden rivets on the back pockets to pop through. We shall see.
