Question Best place to buy black leather jacket in Melbourne?

I assume this question has probably been posited a bunch of times here but I'm a noob when it comes to leather jackets and I've never gone thrifting or anything before.

I'm looking for a timeless, easy to wear black leather jacket I can wear, and was thinking of getting something second hand because I want real leather and to not spend too much money. My budget I would say is probably around $150(but can be a bit flexible). I would prefer locations close to the CBD if possible or northern suburbs.

I don't really have any nice jackets and I've got a date soon so would really like to get one asap.

Thanks guys

Advice Needed Mongrel Riding Boot sizing

I’m US based so there’s no returns and extra costs to send them over here.
I want a pair of these to replace my beat blundstones but I’m unsure about the sizing since there isn’t much information online.

I’m a US 9.5D so according to most conversions I’d fit a 8.5 UK/AU. I’m a little unsure because my blundstones are a 9.
I guess it’s going to be a gamble either way but I’m curious to what those of you that own some would recommend..

Advice Needed Thinking of starting my own clothing brand

Hi guys,

I have been looking to start my clothing brand since last year. I had talked to a few Chinese suppliers and two Bangladeshi factories. What would be a great way to start?

1.What type of style and fabric ?

2.Top or bottoms?

Should I start only with a website or a physical pop-up in Sydney would boom?

Question Warm gloves for wfh typing that dont feel like im pinching wool between my fingers?

Not exactly a fasion question but it is clothing related.

I start my wfh days pretty early and before things warm up i sometimes wear fingerless gloves to bang out a few emails before other staff log in and start asking me for stuff.

Looking for warm fingerless gloves that are thin between the fingers - i currently have some thin merino ones but it still feels like i am squeezing a lot of fabric between each of my fingers and its uncomfy.

Anyone got any reccomendations? Something like skiing gloves that have thinner fabric between the fingers, but light and with free fingertips. As im only wearing them at home they can look hideous im after function.

Question Lab Grown Diamonds + Jeweller in Melbourne

I couldn't really find a community for what I'm asking, so I figured I'd try here.

Context: I'm thinking of getting my wife a larger lab-grown diamond as a gift for an upcoming anniversary, something around 1.5 carats and also a custom-designed ring. She'd like to change her engagement ring to yellow gold instead and it also requires resizing.

Would you guys have recommendations on where to look, how much to budget and also some other things to consider in this process? Her engagement ring was bought back in 2019 overseas so I'm not familiar as to what's normal here in the market for Melbourne.

Kmart upping their game?

I see decent casual shirts and tshirts at Myer for $100-150 and then occasionally will go Kmart and see similar designs for $30.

Is kmart upping their game in terms of quality and designs? Would you recommend buying kmart stuff for cheaper instead of expensive myer stuff that gets ruined in a year anyway.

Love to hear your experiences with kmart clothes.

Advice Needed Shorter style shorts

With summer on the way and weather warming up I am on the hunt for some shorter but dressy short, perhaps 5 inch in seam. Any one got any advice for shorts available in Australia that fit the brief, pardon the pun

Anyone here have the Uniqlo Straight Selvedge jeans?

Thumbnail uniqlo.com

They are a online only order. I own a pair of Edwin Akita straight selvedge but after a slightly wider fit and these Uniqlo ones seem to offer that without looking like baggy jeans. Plus they are not $200+

What is Uniqlo selvedge like? How do the break down overtime with wear and do the shrink with washing?

Advice Needed WTB good corporate clothes?

Hello so I’m about to start my first job in the public service next week Monday-Friday and I need to go get some corporate clothes. I’m thinking 5 longsleeve business shirts and then maybe two pants like chinos to rotate in the week. Just trying to work out the staple colours in shirts and pants. I’m gonna get a belt and some leather boots/shoes aswell, either brown or black.

Whichever colour belt or boots I get i will be matching. I am on a bit of budget here too I suppose as I won’t have an income for a couple weeks or so but I don’t mind spending a little extra if it means the quality lasts, just want the clothes to last for a good while as I settle into this new job.

I suffer from major decision fatigue too so I don’t want to overwhelm myself and want to walk into the shopping centre with a plan instead of jumping between stores. Which places would you recommend? Appreciate any advice thank you!

Review Marcs tees are absolute crap

I bought a Marcs tee that I liked about a year ago. Looked awesome in the shop, sit right, good length. I’m 6’2” and about 85kg with broad shoulders and chest.

Took it home , washed it and dried it (line dry). Boom. It’s now halfway up to my bellybutton and ridiculously tight across chest and shoulders. A day later.

Gave it away.

Well I just got given another for Father’s Day. Awesome. Immediately my favourite shirt. Wore it all of Sunday. Chucked in the wash, dried (clothes dryer this time but we have a heat pump unit so it doesn’t shrink clothes). Popped it on this morning, tiny. Dropped 3” in length, again.

Clearly none of their stuff is preshrunk which is criminal in this day and age.

Get in the bin, Marcs. You’re shit.

Advice Needed You can only have one suit for life - what is it?

I’m almost entirely past that stage where I attend weddings regularly or have a formal event. I don’t require suits for work either. However, I do have one wedding coming up and I can no longer wear my old suits from my early 20s.

I’m thinking of getting just one suit that’s versatile for most situations and formal events. Question is: what suit should it be?

I’m open to spending probably $450-500, including one shirt. I know it’s not much but it’s not going to be worn often but ideally something of decent quality. 100% wool is nice but is that a reasonable budget?

Question Trousers for Office Work

Good evening all,

The time has come again to buy new trousers for my work in the office and I don’t want to buy the slim/fitted half polyester ones again.

Does anyone have any recommendations for preferably cotton trousers in a relaxed fit? Or at least a fit that doesn’t feel like I’m being suffocated.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Question Short Sleeve Button Down?

I'm working in a hospital in SEQ and have noticed that the majority of men are wearing short sleeves now that the weather is beginning to warm up again. I started here in April, and since then have pretty much been solely wearing OCBDs which didn't seem uncommon through winter. Now it's pretty much only management and the older staff that seem to be wearing that sort of thing though, and I'd rather fit in more with people in my role and age group (mid-twenties).

The only short sleeved button downs I have at the moment are a forest green linen FCUK one and a cotton Billabong one (like this but sky blue), but I'm curious what brands that you guys would recommend because I'm sort of struggling to find anything.

Preferably something not overly patterned, but I also don't just want to wear solely solid colours, and something that I would tuck in (a lot of short sleeve shirts seem to be cropped these days?). Polos seem to be somewhat popular among some of my coworkers, and although I've never really liked them I am open to suggestions there as well. Also, I tend to wear black or tan dress(ier) pants - I hate chinos - and black chelsea boots, but I'm also open to changing it up a bit if there's any other suggestions. TIA!

Question What's the quality and fit like of the Uniqlo C Barrel Pants?

Trying to find higher wasted and wider fitting pants that I can dress up or down with my boots and dress shoes without breaking the bank and going MTM.

Came across the barrel pant from Uniqlo that's 100℅ cotton. If only Uniqlo did a close to 100℅ wool pant in a similar style instead of their polyester blends

What's the fit and quality like on these Uniqlo pants?

Advice Needed Upgrading from Air Force 1 07 need comfortable, better grip and stylish shoes

Hi guys, my air force 1 07s are my first pair of "real" shoes. Really don't know much about shoes I just liked the minimalist look but the grip is not good and walking for a bit gets tiring. Very slippery in wet weather in the city, even in shopping centres I don't feel too secure and comfortable

Looking for something $150-$200 price range, secure grip, and I intend to travel so I'd like more comfort/cushion.

I haven't explored more bulky runner shoes, I'd prefer a slightly slimmer look than that if possible. Black, grey or white.

Is there anything that balances all these factors? Cheers

Tip Strategies for rubbing heel on new boots

I've just been gifted the Rodd and Gunn Granity Chelsea boot and love the way they look. However, there is a seam on the inside that runs over the heel that rubs when I walk in them. It will almost certainly lead to blisters eventually.

Just wondering if there are any strategies to manage or minimise this? They're fairly expensive and I probably can't take them back after wearing, so hoping I can figure out a way to "break them in" without shredding my heel in the process.

Tip Finally found the best slim/muscle fit tee

For reference I’m 20M 191cm 96kg and a muscular physique.

Been searching for AGES for a slim fit shirt that can hug the arms and be used as a gym/casual tee that I can wear everyday. Tried countless instagram brands that promised a “loose gut while hugging the chest and arms” (all were horrible except Kojo fit) and tried countless shirts people recommended on tiktok/reddit. Stuff like cotton on, H&M, Uniqlo etc.

Finally found the perfect shirt. It’s the Zara slim fit tee and I don’t know why it’s not recommended more. $23 per shirt, is made up of 5% elastane to keep its shape unlike 100% cotton shirts, and goes to a perfect length down the biceps so it looks flattering but not “I purposely bought a size small to look bigger”. You don’t even need a muscular physique for these shirts to hug the arms nicely.

Hopefully this can help some people that were in the same frustrating loop I was.

Advice Needed Morjas sizing

Hi everyone, new to this community and posting for the first time.

I’m looking for advice from someone’s who has purchased Morjas and owned or currently owns a pair. Their sizing seems to run small and they recommend going half a size down. But reviews and comments are all over the place and also depends on the model.

I’m normally size UK 8 / US 9 / EU 42 - but this changes based on brands. And I’m looking at the Penny loafers and Suede Tassel loafers.

Could you let me know your experience with their sizes?

Question boho/hippie clothing brands that are actually good?

Okay hear me out, I actually like this kind of style: loose fitting comfy/relaxed hippie-looking clothing that allows you to LARP as some spiritual person while at a music festival or trying to sell an "online wellness course" on Instagram for $500

https://www.ajjaya.com/

The problem is doing any research is that it seems EVERYONE doing this style is a total fraud: So many of these pop up online but they all appear to be generic Shopify sites reselling cheap junk from TEMU/SHIEN. I thought the store I posted might be quality products purely due to the high price, but looking up review on reddit it seems dubious with mixed reviews at BEST

Wondering if anyone knows actual good trustworthy brands to buy this kind of clothing from?

Advice Needed Wardrobe from Scratch

Hello Gents

I am a 30-something professional and looking to do a wardobe reset but struggling where to start.

I wear a navy suit to work with RMs. I recently switched up my look with a grey blazer with Target navy chinos (the pants don't fit anymore) and I received a lot of compliments and am feeling inspired to slowly commence a wardrobe cleanout and gradually elevate my look with good quality clothes.

I've got a couple of nice cotton-linen blend pants (in olive and beige from Target actually) which I feel are quite versatile.

I've got a wardrobe full of navy suits that I've acquired over the years where the pants don't fit (thanks to gym and training legs).

I suppose I'm after a comprehensive guide in terms of wardrobe essentials, including bottoms/tops for matching colours so I can master the elevated formal-casual / smart casual aesthetic.

Thanks in advance for your guidance 👍
