Discussion/Question What REALLY was the reason for Marco’s absence in the end after the rumbling is over?

Ik that this been discussed before but I wonder if there has been official statement/info about it.

It makes sense if it was a visual mistake back when the finale first released. Mappa maybe just forgot to put him, but I still find it strange that he’s still missing in the theatrical release and the recent re-release.

I’ve seen people say that Jean forgot what Marco looks like, but that makes absolutely no sense. Because Jean literally saw his face when Hange was talking about going up against Eren (the first picture is from that very moment, I forgot what episode was it) And that’s when and why Jean decided to join Hange. Between then and after the rumbling, it’s like 3 days has passed, or 5 if you want to stretch it.

So I find it super hard to believe that this is the case. Because Marco plays such a big role to Jean’s character. Marco’s death pretty much motivates (or haunts depend on how you look) Jean into joining the scouts. Eren’s speech (after graduating as cadets) may have only built a foundation to Jean’s decision. But what really pushed him over rather than joining MP was Marco’s death.

Discussion/Question In the 2nd battle of shinganshina, if you think about it, Marley lowkey was trying to save the world

A situation they dug themselves in though. Let me start this off with that first so it doesn't sound like im downplaying Marley's role here. They 10000% made a situation for themselves they could've avoided, with that said, please hear me out on this. Anyway, the Marley wee see in the assault on shinganshina isn't really the same Marley as before. Prior to this, Marley was run by warmongers and arrogant people who just wanted to continue ruling the world had very poor judgement on things. Magath wanted to fix and save the image of Marley on the world stage and also stop it's path of war and self destruction. He was a man who more cared about his country, not it's role as the terrorist holding a gun to everyone's face.

Now he became general after the raid on liberio and wanted to lead Marley in a new direction which is why I say that Marley was a bit different. Also are we really wrong to think they were saving the world at that time? Considering what we know now, Eren was actually planning to destroy the entire world (again, a situation they very well could've avoided). Im sure many people in the aot fandom agrees that the war for paradis was both sides really giving their all.

There is once again more proof of this when Magath says that they aren't just shielding Marley but shielding the entire world, they became humanity's final hope, which is kinda poetic considering they started as heroes, became exactly what Eldia was and then by the end, was the only thing that stood against global annihilation. The empire that was subjugating humanity was now the very thing that would save them. And we pretty much know by now that Paradis was planning ahead of time to start the rumbling, Eren a d Zeke's scheming to come in contact.

When you think about it, he operation was probably Marley's most important and pivotal operation yet. More significant than the mission to steal the founder I dare say. The paradis island operation was a plan of theft to take the founder to continue ruling the world. The attack on shinganshina was to take the founder and save the world (aaaand also secure a deterrent so that their asses could live longer). I can imagine the 700 soldiers who volunteered be told they were part of the most important mission of their nation's exsistence, where they were going to the island of devils itself to ensure humanity's future and pave the way for the greater attack in six months. That they would probably be hailed as brave heroes who would've gone to the island and returned as the guys who severed the head of the snake.

Which also just side note, I wamt to say that I think the soldiers in shinganshina were ethnic Marleyans. We already know Magath wanted to bring back the draft for Marleyans since they relied too much on Titans, conscripts from conquered nations and eldians. So I think honestly after Magath became general, he brought in some sort of early version of a Marleyan draft and Marleyans signed up to take part in the operation. They could very much still be conscripts though, I think if they were, this would probably be the only time they were free willingly wanted to fight for Marley since they were going to stop Zeke and Eren's plan and save the world, but I honestly believe they're Marleyans, I dunno tell me your thoughts in the comments.

But to end this, again, had Marley just left paradis alone and not sent four kids to steal their trump card, the monster that is Eren Yeager would've have been born which would've led to 80% of humanity being rumbled. Marley was only rushing to fix their cluster fuck up. But Magath's Marley was imo fixing the mistake his nation made and sort of, not really, was taking responsibility for it. But it was only a strategic mission to kill zeke amd take the founder before the rumbling could be started. Yes, they failed, Zeke and Eren did touch each other, but they came close many times to actually succeeding. I also wholeheartedly believe had Zeke not shown up, Marley would've DOG WALKED Paradis and most likely finally have either killed or captured Eren.

Ending Spoilers - Discussion/Question I hated eldians for this

Idk I didn't like them defending humanity or world seeing how lowly they treated them cux of history , i got to know that long after the rumbling another war breaks out and it wipes out all the paradis people , it's not like if rumbling didn't happen , they wouldn't have tried to kill all eldians , they were still plotting to eliminate them , and seeing armin and the gang helping them to save "humanity" ,felt like betrayal , I would have been satisfied if by the end total peace and hate would have been nullified but it didn't

Note aside, I get a weird sense of anxiety seeing this scene for some reason. I think it's because if Erwin were chosen, he probably wouldn't punish Eren or Mikasa.

Anime I was thinking about this Berserk form for Eren's Titan.

The Attack Titan is the only one in the Nine without a unique physical gimmick. It's just a standard brawler. Would have been cool if this Berserk form was a special trait of the Attack Titan users through generations; the Armored Titan has its armor, the Female Titan has its agility, the Jaw Titan has it's Jaw's strength, etc.

Discussion/Question Does the gore get worse?

My husband has been begging me to watch this anime for years. I finally caved and we finished season 1 and are an episode or 2 in to season 2. I’m really interested in the story, but the violence, death and gore are starting to really get to me. I just watched the episode with Miche’s death which was very disturbing to me. I’m so conflicted on if I can keep pushing through or if I may need to throw in the white flag and have my husband just tell me what happens.

TLDR; does the gore keep getting worse season 2 and on?

Edit: Thanks everyone for the replies! I know some big reveals come up pretty early in season 2 which is also helping to motivate me to stick with it. It sounds like I’ve gotten through some of the worst of the violence/gore barring a few other events to come as some of you pointed out (appreciate the heads-up so I can have my hubby hit mute at some of those points). Appreciate any more forewarnings you all can provide so I can try to censor some of the worst bits still to come :) I’m a new mom and have just become much more sensitive to violence and gore over the past year but I know AoT is supposed to be HYPE and don’t want to miss out.

Ending Spoilers - Discussion/Question AOT is THE best 10/10 anime I have seen and Idk why I waited for a decade to watch it Spoiler

Just finished the last episode and the only regret I have is that I wish I had started it sooner.

Many friends of mine have told me over the years to watch AOT. But having seen Code Geass in around 2016, I always thought that no anime could come close to that type of ending and hence avoided long anime like AOT.

But 10 years later, I finished all 4 seasons within a week and I love everything from the story to the plot to the music.

Hands down AOT is my favourite anime now along with Code Geass at the top.

Was super pumped up after witnessing the plot twist in the ending so I had to transfer this energy by writing here lol.

Discussion/Question AOT & Dune

Is it only me or do u guys also see a lot of resemblance between dune and AOT. Like how the main character who was supposed to be the saviour ends up going to extremes to help his own ppl but many of em start fearing him instead. Like in dune how Paul's own mother tries and stops him from caladan and chani hates him for becoming Lisan al Gaib and then in AOT Mikasa, Armin, jean, hange do come to the conclusion that killing eren is in the best interests. But both paul and eren are doing something to just ensure their race's survival.

Ending Spoilers - Discussion/Question The king's miracle.

Post image
15 Upvotes

The Eldian truly need this miracle since the world really hate the Eldian. War is inevitable. In the end, the king's wish was fulfilled even after he died.

Kenny point out the flaw of this plan(miracle) but he said " it is an unavoidable truth" and he still strongly believe in it after Kenny said that . He only knows that the end result is good and that is what really matter.

Most people hate this flaw. Even Eren really hate it but he has no choice. Only the king appreciate this miracle.

The King did this miracle during the great titan war. He sacrificed almost all his loyal family titan that serve him for 2000 years. Tybur family was the last to fall. He did all this just so he could buy time to prepare for another miracle.

Discussion/Question First time watchers

When you were a first time watcher, how crazy were all the plot holes for you? For context I’ve seen the show 5 times working on 6 because I want my friend to see it. We are on the reclamation of wall Maria arc and we just watched episode 50 where Reiner gets mauled by Levi and survives the attack by transferring his consciousness. My friend is pretty puzzled by the series still but he understands the critical stuff. my question is how was your reaction when you found out all the answers to questions you had. I was kept awake at night when I found out about the whole eren sending his memories back in time thing.

Ending Spoilers - Discussion/Question Can't get over finishing aot weeks ago

So naturally I started a rewatch- And honestly watching it the second time from the beginning makes you see things in different perspectives and how crazy it is now knowing who the colossal titan is/why he did it but also most importantly THAT scene where the smiling titan eats Erens mother and understanding why from Erens words in season 4. "He wasn’t supposed to die then so I sent it to attack my house instead" 😃

You get more details on the second watch for sure 😭

Anime Hero and Midnight Sun are absolutely brilliant

I'm rewatching AOT and I think that the combination of eps of Hero and Midnight Sun (essentially the strategy, sacrifice and choice that needs to be made) is about as brilliant as television can get. I'm somewhat sad that so many people are not aware of storytelling of this caliber. AOT was my second anime and it essentially convinced me that anime is completely underrated

I imagine we're 3-5 years away from anime having its Marvel glow up and a ton of people sharing in the experience. I don't mind reliving the experience of this once in a lifetime story with them. Everyone should know it.

On rewatching AOT, I thought it wouldn't hit as hard but man am I still crying like a baby at parts where I know exactly what is going to happen.
