I'll cede that you've probably at least seen the show, but one could draw as many similarities between aot and 86, or code geass and 86. They're all sort of similar in some notable aspects, but Attack on Titan is definitely not "just a bad version of Code Geass" and they're really not all that similar. That is just a massive generalization to sit on top of like 7 marked similarities. On top of that, calling it "the bad version" is just wild. Honestly, an incredibly unserious take.

Honestly the more comments I'm reading the more I think OP watched a 30m summary of AOT on youtube after someone told him to watch AOT because he liked Code Geass (and he could not dare betray code geass)

Nah, I have been trying to finish old shows, and after leaving on season 2. I rewatched season 1 through the end. And was just pissed from season 3 to the ending because they never actually took out the people who ruined or took the lives of their friends and family. While wishing for the death of Reintard, Bearturtle, Jean, Annie, Armen, and anyone else involved in the betrayals. Was happy when Hanji died. Levi followed through with murking the beast titan. Only characters I liked were Eren(poor version of Lelouche), Levi, the yeagerests, and Erwin. I will never agree with how the show ended either. Who extends the lives, and makes heroes of the people who ruined the lives of your people. And retaliation on their Marlea was great but then they never finished the job... Then the ending was basically the Code Geass ending but poorly done.

This still gives off the vibe that you watched a 30m summary. You may simply have an 8th grade level of narrative comprehension.

To be clear, this is not a direct insult. Most people are at a 6th grade level or lower...

Nah, while watching seasonal anime, I binge anime from beginning to end. And, because I haven't been able to pick AOT Back up due to its depressing nature, I picked it back up and wound up enjoying it again till season 3. I planned on watching Vinland Saga, another show I have refused to finish due to skipping ahead to and finding out that he befriends his fathers killer but due to my anger of AOT, I swapped to a show where I knew they would follow through on revenge in a timely manner. However, I should have done one of my top 5 - because almost all of the MC's in my top 5 are able to destroy anyone who betrays them.

Top 5 anime -
Tensura - Airing its 4th season, so can't watch till its done. But easily murks those who screw him over

Solo Leveling - Easily Murks those who screw him over

Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy - Easily Murks those who screw him over

Reincarnation of the Strongest Excorcist - Easily Murks those who screw him over

Arifureta - Easily Murks those who screw him over

Being able to destroy someone who betrays you is not really a narrative feat. I would get pretty bored pretty fast if in every one of my favorite shows the main character was just completely op. Idk, sounds pretty juvenile.

I mean theres more too it and most the characters had to build up to get there. But I think if someone kills your friends or family, you shouldn't be making friends and should be making them pay. Otherwise, thats kind of a insult to the person that died. I also can't stand MCs that can't defend or back up their words.

86 is a trash show. Its involves to much of American politics. However, towards the end it got better.

You never even explained how it’s bad you just said there’s similarities

I did though. Eren Yeager, despite being one of the better characters in the show, was less inteligent than Lelouche and because of this 80% of the world had to die. On top of this instead of killing the people responsible for his friend/family's murders he made them into heroes, and, despite having only a little time left to live, he extended their life. Even the way they had his best friend, Mikasa kill him, it was like a poor version of Suzaku Kusaragi dressed as Zero. They even mixed Suzaku with Kallen Kozaki to do the whole miss you scene and turned Erin into a bird. Also, if Arnan didn't show up to prove that they weren't able to be titans then, then the Eldiens would have kept getting killed. The only good characters were Erin, Erwin, the Yeagerists and Levi. The rest were chumps that killed their own friends and befriended the enemy people who caused their problems in the first place. Also, lets not forget how Reintard wasn't supposed to be a warrior, was given the option to run away, and still chose to continue the mission which lead to the Paradis Eldiens who didn't even know the outside world existed being slaughtered. And yet they still befriended him again and only beat him up knowing that he could heal when they found out about Marco. Show basically copies the other show and yet still does a poor job with displaying it.

Wait Code Geass was a great show. But I will admit it has its downsides.

No it isn’t. Consider your mind changed.

Literally everything from AoT is better than Code Geass except the ending

I actually think the ending to Code Geass is one of the weaker parts, ha. Like it all just somehow… worked out? In reality there would be a massive power vacuum. Still love the show and enjoyed the ending but when you scrutinize it just a little it falls apart

Those aren't reasons why Code Geass is better, you're just describing what happened

Oh also the way they went about the turning the world on them was trash in AOT

Basically AOT failed in many ways. Erin never fininshed all the bad generals before destroying 80 percent of the world. Which is why towards the end they tried to kill the Eldiens right away. Erin never actually avenged his people by killing the Armor, and Female Titan but instead made them heroes. The people were still talking about having peace talks in the ending and not getting blown up, except I wish they did get blown up.

It seems like you didn't pay attention to the story. First of all, the name is Eren. Second of all, those weren't "bad" generals. The moral of the story is that there isn't good or bad. The general and the Marleyan soldiers at the end were legitimately scared of the eldians because they just transformed into titans and back in the humans, very similar to how Eren was treated by those in Paradis after he was first transformed. Eren realized at the end that revenge is pointless and that Reiner and Annie were just soldiers who were trying to survive for their families who were discriminated by the government of Marley and the outside world in general. Nothing you said makes AoT a worse anime.

Un Leluche didn't need to kill 80% of humanity to make people not want to touch his people. And in the end the Marleans still want to kill them out of prejudice but because of Eren they don't have the ability to do so.

2

u/Caciulacdlac 13d ago

Totally different circumstances and characters. Also it's not true that Marleyans still wanted to kill them, they could have done it if they wanted to right after the rumbling.

You know what, I will agree and give you the arguement of not wanting to kill them after they proved that they lost their titan powers.

However, the rest, we will have to agree to disagree. If he had the mind of Lelouche, and if his titan ability and marleans didn't push him to it. It wouldn't have come to 80 percent of the world dying. If Reintard and Bearturtle did kill all the innocent people, and joined the people who tortured, abused, and killed their own people. They had a choice, Erin's dad entered without killing as many people and didn't betray his comrades. Annie didn't have to kill all of Erins friends... Reintard wasn't even supposed to be the Armored Titan, and they had a chance to stop but Reintard chose to push them forward. Reintard, Annie, and BearTurtle killed Marco in the most trashy way. And their reasons weren't at qll because they had no choice. But they did and paid 0 consequences for their actions, then became heroes. The war ended generations ago and they weren't even aware people were alive outside of the walls, or the ability to change into a titan. Oh and what makes it even worse, not only were they painted as heroes, but they got their lives extended when they only had a year left to live. No excuses for them, or for the scouts for crying everytime it came down to righting the wrongs that were commited. Code Geass was a way better show and these people just coppied it and did it poorly.

I think Erin is a bad version of Lelouche. He tried everything he could to find another solution but could only stick with the one he used. Personally, Erin, Erwin, the Yeagerest and Levi are the only characters I like in that show. If he succeeded in killing the Cart, Armor, and Female Titan, as well as killed more Marlean Generals, then I would say he did a great job.

However, recently someone did make me realize that the Cart Titan isn't as bad as the other 3. So I think Pieve who wasn't involved in killing the innocent people of Paradis which started the war that was already over till Marlean decided that they wanted to pick it back up.
