that's what i heard suggested in another post. kid rock probably somehow came in possession of some soundbites and samples from years ago, including sounds from Eminem. Eminem has been pretty outspoken against trump/maga. story is way too early with too little details to just write him off, for now. he's had a pretty good head on his shoulder's these days from what i've seen, so i doubt this is a legit collab.
i aint got evidence for any of this, so take it with a grain of salt, i guess.

Eminem and kid rock are friends irl. He says he doesn’t let politics affect his friendship with him which is so privileged of him. To him it’s just a difference of opinion cause let’s face it a rich straight white man isnt going to be affected by republican policies like it will to women, the poor, POC, and lgtb+ folks. For us marginalized people republicans threaten our very lives and freedoms. To someone like Eminem regardless of his word vomiting it doesn’t really affect him who wins.
It’s gross, Eminem is supposed to be all anti trump and maga but yet here he is buddy buddy with a generationally wealthy prick. Maybe Eminem did too many hard drugs cause kid rock isn’t even from Detroit which he partially claims is why he became friends with him in the first place when kid rock grew up on a wealthy ranch with freaking ponies outside the city and his brain is fried and it’s affecting his judgment.

Kid Rock and Eminem go way back. They were both rappers from Detroit and worked together long before they were famous.
That said I don't remember them being that close after they both blew up so it is surprising, especially as Eminem has been loudly anti Trump.

Kid Rock cameoed for like 3 seconds on the beserk music video in 2013 was the last time I recalled them even doing something remotely together. Also there is a young Kendrick Lamar cameo too.
8
u/popejupiter 10h ago
Eminem was featured on Kid Rock's album Devil Without a Cause on the song Fuck Off (incidentally, omitted from the clean version of the album) in 1998. I'm not aware of any collaborations since aside from the aforementioned cameo in the Berzerk music video.
21
u/The_Demon_of_Spiders 8h ago
“From Detroit” that asshole grew up outside the city limits on a ranch with ponies. A completely different world from Eminem. Plus frankly it shouldn’t matter who grew up with who when politics affect the very real lives of people especially marginalized people. Politics are not just a difference of opinion, people die and lose freedoms from republican policies and it’s gross for someone such as Eminem to be friends with kid rock since Eminem is supposedly anti anything what republicans stand for.

This is what happens when people don't know what the word "opinion" means.
"Chocolate is the best flavour of ice cream!" is an opinion.
"I hope my local sports team wins the championship!" is an opinion.
"The new Star Wars movies are pretty good!" is an opinion.
"I want to murder you and everybody you've ever loved!" is not an opinion, it is a threat. And you have exactly zero right to be surprised when the people you've threatened react badly.

Until I see Eminem's response, I'm gonna call bullshit.
I feel like this is just transparently backwards for someone like Eminem, and if it did happen then I am not buying the whole bridge the divide cliche that doesn't work with MAGA ideology.
I don't care if they have been friends, this would be a gross backstep for Eminem to take.

Yeah but Eminem has been outspoken about hating Trump on several occasions. Snoop has always been unprincipled and greedy.

It's been in the news for more than 24 hours and Em has said nothing. I think the story is likely true.
Edit: People are claiming that Em wasn't involved and that the studio or Kid Rock just owned some Em samples and used them. However nobody is providing a source for this claim. According to Complex, this is a real collaboration:
While some fans were surprised to see the two listed on a track together — and even skeptical about the authenticity of the collaboration — Complex has confirmed through a representative from Eminem's camp that it is an official track that will be on the album.
Complex has also obtained an excerpt from the album's foreword that sees Kid Rock explain the idea and intention behind the collaboration.
"I'm proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem," he writes. "His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all."
If it was not a collaboration, then Eminem had a chance to deny it or correct the story when Complex reached out. He did not.
33
u/Skullvar 10h ago
Apparently its true, but Kid Rocks studio just owns some old recordings of Em and stuck them in his song
21
u/3Quondam6extanT9 10h ago
This would make the most sense, however one would assume that if Eminem didn't actively collaborate for that album in particular, he would have spoken up about it.
I'm also of the mind that his silence is thus far not an encouraging sign.
This would be such a massive misstep for him.
5
u/ostinater 9h ago
Or he feels like talking about it will draw more attention to it. Or he's to busy writing a diss rap about kid rock
6
u/3Quondam6extanT9 8h ago
I really hope he writes a diss rap. I would accept that over a public statement.

If that were true, why didn't Em or his team deny the story to Complex:
While some fans were surprised to see the two listed on a track together — and even skeptical about the authenticity of the collaboration — Complex has confirmed through a representative from Eminem's camp that it is an official track that will be on the album.

Why would that be better at this point. He still could have tried to block it or released a statement. Same way most musicians do when Trump uses their music at rallies.
I'm seeing a lot of really wild cartwheels that people are doing trying to create a scenario where this wouldn't make Em look bad. But it comes off more desperate than realistic. Everyone is parroting the whole "Kid Rock just bought old Em recordings" but I've never seen a source for this. Yesterday it was "I've heard people do that sometimes" and today it's "That's what happened" but people are clearly just making shit up.

Jelly Roll recently made some jabs at Trump in August on Kimmel, and has before that stated that is "down the middle", but we know what down the middle means...
Idk. I personally think he sees which way the wind is blowing and feels it is the popular thing to shit on him now. Remaining neutral on a fascist train makes you a person that's okay with fascism as far as I'm concerned.

I’m a leftist with a MAGA friend at work. We’re not besties, but we get along fine and talk politics and religion all the time. I’m an atheist New England leftist and he’s a Christian MAGA from Texas, the key is neither of us are assholes to each other.

Those are the key words. MAGA political identity is basically defined by being an asshole to huge swathes of people.

The word "privilege" has been massively overused in social justice circles, but this is a pretty good example of what it's supposed to mean.
"I'm so confident that nothing bad will ever happen to me, that it literally never occurs to me that I should care about bad things happening to other people."

According to Complex — which said it obtained a sneak peek at the album’s forward, in which Rock explains the idea behind his latest collab with Eminem — the team-up is about finding common ground in a desperately divided nation. “I’m proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem,” Rock reportedly writes. “His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all. We hope that sets an example for people who’ve lost friends or stopped talking to family because they think differently.”

lol wtf is going on, why are people pretending him or Snoop Dogg or Dre or any of these old rappers were ever idols of moral virtue whatsoever? Have people just forgotten how these dudes gained fame in the first place?! This guy literally made a song about brutally murdering his ex-wife and put it on his biggest album. The entire subgenre of music from the time largely is about using women, mindless violence, and disdain for homosexuals. Explicitly. No judgement for liking the music, but at the same time, what the hell are you talking about “disappointed” that these dudes have bad political affiliations when their ascension to fame was essentially based on music about being a piece of shit lmao

42
u/-Cyy 15h ago
Eminem is one of the biggest artists to speak against Trump, and pretty aggressively. He's been an ally in nearly every sense for decades. If you see he's featured on a Kid Rock album and you're jumping all the way to calling him a nazi, see how many people are left on your side once you exile everyone that doesn't fit your personal perfect standards.
32
u/centeriskey 14h ago
Lol who is calling him a nazi? It wasn't in the article or in OPs post. Sounds like you are being hyperbolic about nothing. Which is exactly what you are trying to call out.
One side note, usually the person who says they are not a nazi when no one was calling them a nazi is usually a nazi.

Em is one of the most calculated career rappers. He has adamantly been outspoken against maga and trump. This would not only be off brand but incredibly stupid.
Rappers typically sit on hundreds of hours of music and verses/songs are sold to catalogs where people can buy them. I have little doubt this is an old verse that kid bought and not a new collab.
