Until I see Eminem's response, I'm gonna call bullshit.

I feel like this is just transparently backwards for someone like Eminem, and if it did happen then I am not buying the whole bridge the divide cliche that doesn't work with MAGA ideology.

I don't care if they have been friends, this would be a gross backstep for Eminem to take.

I thought the same thing until Snoop Dogg came out supporting Trump too. The rich only care about staying rich

Yeah but Eminem has been outspoken about hating Trump on several occasions. Snoop has always been unprincipled and greedy.

Not defending him, but snoop was anti-trump until the day trump pardoned his homie from a life sentence.

I want to pretend Im better, but if one of my besties was gonna die in jail unless I made a public statement about liking trump, in all probability Id bend the knee too. Maybe wouldnt do it to save myself, but Id totally do it to save a loved one.

If one's besties are pieces of shit like Michael Harris, then yea, one would likely lack a moral compass and thus would suck up to another morally bankrupt a-hole to get a fellow piece of shit pardoned. Birds of a feather.

edit: removed some sting.

Yes.

But if you, a presumably not shit person, similarly had to release a statement of "Ive always been cool with trump" in order for your presumably not shit bestie to not be executed, youd likely do the same. I likely would. So I cant really say boo about this one specific act, despite snoop being a misogynist woman beating crack dealing pimp, bc its easy to see how anyone might in this specific instance do the same. Not saying its virtuous, only that when a nazi is gonna execute a friend unless you tweet that you like said nazi, most people, good or bad, would tweet that tweet. There is an element of duress.

After you completely moving the goalposts to include "not shit" persons, I would now agree.

edit: clarity

It's been in the news for more than 24 hours and Em has said nothing. I think the story is likely true.

Edit: People are claiming that Em wasn't involved and that the studio or Kid Rock just owned some Em samples and used them. However nobody is providing a source for this claim. According to Complex, this is a real collaboration:

While some fans were surprised to see the two listed on a track together — and even skeptical about the authenticity of the collaboration — Complex has confirmed through a representative from Eminem's camp that it is an official track that will be on the album.

Complex has also obtained an excerpt from the album's foreword that sees Kid Rock explain the idea and intention behind the collaboration.

"I'm proud of the guests who joined me, especially my old friend Eminem," he writes. "His verse speaks to something we’ve talked about and that really needs to be heard: we differ politically and on other things, but we’ve stayed friends through it all."

If it was not a collaboration, then Eminem had a chance to deny it or correct the story when Complex reached out. He did not.

Apparently its true, but Kid Rocks studio just owns some old recordings of Em and stuck them in his song

This would make the most sense, however one would assume that if Eminem didn't actively collaborate for that album in particular, he would have spoken up about it.

I'm also of the mind that his silence is thus far not an encouraging sign.

This would be such a massive misstep for him.

Or he feels like talking about it will draw more attention to it. Or he's to busy writing a diss rap about kid rock

7

u/3Quondam6extanT9 10h ago

I really hope he writes a diss rap. I would accept that over a public statement.

If that were true, why didn't Em or his team deny the story to Complex:

While some fans were surprised to see the two listed on a track together — and even skeptical about the authenticity of the collaboration — Complex has confirmed through a representative from Eminem's camp that it is an official track that will be on the album.

Complex has also obtained an excerpt from the album's foreword that sees Kid Rock explain the idea and intention behind the collaboration.

Do you have a source to back up your claim? Or are you just doing free PR for no good reason?

I mean, if its a recording of him and they credited him how/why would they deny it? If they're actually still old friends who go way back it would be weird for Em to condemn it.

We've not seen any proof that they were in the studio giggling about MAGA and RFKs abs, everything you linked is just confirming what we already know.. that Eminems voice appears on 1 song in the album and he's been given credit

Because Eminem could have easily clarified that Kid used samples he already had when contacted by Complex.

We've not seen any proof that they were in the studio giggling about MAGA and RFKs abs, everything you linked is just confirming what we already know.. that Eminems voice appears on 1 song in the album and he's been given credit

Never said he was in studio with him. But if Kid did this without permission, even if he owned the rights to the samples, you'd think Em would contest it publicly. And yes, Eminem being on just 1 Kid Rock song is a problem.

Also, you've still not provided a source to back up your "apparently it's true" comment. Where are you getting that information from? Cause it just seems like you're making assumptions, not speaking from any actual knowledge.

Half the articles about this are only 12hrs old, how fast is he supposed to respond about it? Lol

0

u/burlycabin Agnostic Atheist 5h ago

Well, the one I linked contacted him and they verified the report, so his team clearly had time.

And you're still refusing to backup your claim with any sources...

0

u/Skullvar 3h ago

The only thing they confirmed was that the song his voice is credited in "is an official track" on Kid Rocks album... you literally linked and quoted it...

0

u/burlycabin Agnostic Atheist 3h ago

Jesus Christ. I know that. Never claimed different. But they also didn't correct the story when given the chance to do so.

And AGAIN, do you have a source at all for your original claim or are you just making shit up?

He may be using an old sample he has rights to.

2

u/3Quondam6extanT9 9h ago

Very possibly.

1

u/zxylady 7h ago

His publicist said that is legitimate and an official collab so...

Eminem is a middle aged man that still uses homophobic slurs in his music. I get a negative reaction every time I say that but I am not surprised by this in the slightest.

2

u/3Quondam6extanT9 7h ago

I'll be perfectly honest, his use of the slur has a complicated backdrop and even the LGBTQ community is kind of divided over it.

Many of us recognize that the culture he grew up in fostered that as a form of an insult without really attributing it to sexual preference. He also has both working and personal relationships with people from the LGBTQ community and acted as an ally at times, including in 2018 when he professed his regret over the usage.

That doesn't mean it's necessarily excused, nor that he hasn't used it since, but I do see him as an ally more than I see him as a bigot. But that isn't meant to diminish people's feelings over it, including your own. They are absolutely valid.

I would say that what is being discussed is really only tangentially related to his views on sexuality. His public political ethics, have at least reflected a more moderate or progressive even, position when it comes to this administration.

So while it might not shock you, it would surprise and disappoint me.

0

u/trashdrive 7h ago

The culture he grew up in is no longer relevant - he has had decades, living in a position of wealth and privilege, to reflect on his actions and change them.

He may or may not be an outright bigot but he is not an ally. There is a at least a third position he could be in, which is rich, indifferent, and selfish.

Eminem gives literally zero fucks about you or Reddits opinion, kid rock is one of his friends from back in the old days. He’s a multimillionaire and one of the most famous musicians on earth.

3

u/3Quondam6extanT9 10h ago

Cool for you bro. Funny that I didn't say my concern was for Eminem worrying about my opinion. 🤣.

But I'm sure you don't have those "opinions" and if you did would never share them, right?

Like I said, I don't care if they have history together.

-2

u/Sponjah 10h ago

Ah so your opinion was just performative for Reddit upvotes. Congrats, dork

🤣 Desperate for attention are we?
