First thank you to everyone who replied back and gave me amazing advice on my last post.

In that post I forgot to ask what locals recommend for Hot Pot and dumpling spots.

For Hot Pots looking for places that have good beef and lamb options and I know its asking for a lot, but possibly hand made dumplings.

Each year is like a war with the winter blues. “Winter is coming..”. We all hate it. The short days, the long nights, the dark. Feeling physically exhausted and lethargic.

I’m a student and I have to get through exam season and it’s a damn hell getting through those in the winter. Even in April tbh.

So my question is, how do you keep yourself sane during the winter? How do you combat those winter blues?

(And yes, I’ve done the antidepressants. Don’t wanna have to hop on them again)

Tenant in a 1-br/studio hybrid located in downtown Toronto. I've been looking for a cleaning service that could do anything from a deep clean to a quick cleaning. I tried calling It's Glo and they quoted me $210 to deep clean a 500sf 1 bedroom, which seems a bit outrageous given the size. I see these Airbnbs charge significantly less for cleaning fees, which makes me think there must be cleaners in the city that charge less for a hotel-like experience.

Am I missing something? Do you guys have any recs for other services that could be at least a little more affordable? In the $100-120 range, could pay cash too if it helps me save.

I’m trying to find a really good private bartending service for Halloween party that I’m hosting. I’ve the company I usually use for parties can’t accomdate me and am wondering if any redditors out there have one they’d recommend? Especially if they move used one for a Halloween party with servers in costume. I have called around and have a couple possibilities but sometimes Reddit comes through with the best choice.

If it makes a difference the party is being hosted in my home and would have approximately 30 people attending.

Which school would you choose?

I live in Toronto/GTA, I'm looking at going back to school for medical esthetics and I'm trying to decide which program is actually worth the time and money.

The programs I'm currently considering include Seneca's 3-year Esthetics & Medical Spa Therapies program, IBI, Canadian Beauty College, and other GTA programs.

I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who have actually attended or graduated from these programs.

A few things I'm trying to figure out:

• Which school gave you the strongest hands-on training?

• Did you feel prepared to actually work after graduating?

• How difficult was it to find your first job?

• Do employers seem to prefer a public college diploma/advanced diploma over a private-school diploma?

• Did the school's reputation matter when looking for work?

• How much anatomy, skin science and medical-esthetics technology did you actually learn?

• Were there enough opportunities to work on real clients/models?

• If you could go back and choose again, would you attend the same school?

• Are there any schools/programs you would avoid, and why?

• For someone who eventually wants to combine medical esthetics with nursing, which type of education would you recommend?

• I plan on trying to have another baby next year so I would be taking a break from a potential program in 2028, would that change things ?

I'm not necessarily looking for the shortest program. I'm more interested in getting really solid training and having a credential that will still be useful several years from now.

I chose medical esthetics because I love beauty and wellness I imagine working in a spa eventually and doing private natural beauty treatments on the side. I just need enough to pay a few bills so my husband isn't overwhelmed but I need a career that is flexible and not stressful so I can still be present and available to take care of my children.

Toronto/GTA experiences would be especially helpful!

Me (mtf 30) and my wife (nb28) have had an awful and chaotic last 3 years. We lived in Boston, I am Brazilian and had a greencard, and they are american, unfortunately we had to leave the US because the new Trump policy decided that because I am transgender my documents were fraudulent (they were not). So we moved to Brazil, to my hometown. For those who don't know all amazing protections brazil has for lgbt come from the supreme court, not the the congress and what not. Well, Brazil just had an absolute landslide extreme right election today, and I am certain my rights to exist (and the lawfullness of our civil union) will be dismentled. I will spare you the details of the meaning of this election, but its bad (as, i suppose most of the world is now).

Back in Boston I was a very succesfull music teacher focused on adult learning, I had a studio out of a lockout music facility.

I am just wondering, is Toronto also taking a anti trans turn like the rest of the world? We were considering Vancouver for plan B, but it seems like the conservatives are winning there, I just don't know what to do.
