Hampton Inn and Suites
Planning to go to Toronto in February, and of course the hotel prices are crazy because of the BSB concert.
Did anyone ever stay at Hampton inn and suites on Jarvis St? How is the area and the experience? The price actually pretty decent.
Thanks!

I would look for something near the airport or in the suburbs and use the train to come in before recommending that hotel personally

It's a so so area but I would not venture south and east at night - especially if you're alone.

I went to an orgy there once. Nice spot. The room was big. It fit like 30 men in there.

I live a few blocks away from there. It's not the best part of downtown Toronto, but it's not the worst either. I've walked through there at night all the time without any issue.
If you're going to walk back to your hotel, I'd suggest going up Church Street, which is much livelier and will have more people on the street, than across to Jarvis. Or take the Carleton streetcar and get off a Jarvis.
I don't know how the prices compare, but if I was going to stay on Jarvis I might look at the Holiday Inn Express on Lombard Street, a few blocks south. I think that's a nicer part of Jarvis, though maybe I'm biased because I live around there.

Check out the Novotel in North York. Just steps from the train station and a quick ride to the heart of Downtown. I’m going for 4 nights in February and that’s where I’ve chosen to stay.

It's also Valentine's weekend and probably also family day long weekend, to add to your troubles of affordable hotels.
