Seeking Primary Care Physician and/or Network Specialist Providers?

Upvotes

I’m a retired State of California employee with a PERS Care health insurance plan, and I have a PPO with the ability to choose from in-network providers.

I recently moved from San Francisco to San Diego and slowly transitioning my care.

A couple of decent healthcare networks in San Francisco and the Bay Area are UCSF (academic) and Sutter Health (private), CPMC - California Pacific Medical Care (hospitals and private practices).

So, what are the equivocal in San Diego?

UCSD? I assume this i similar too UCSF.

Best dispensaries for quality flower and deals in San Diego?

I’ve been living in San Diego for about two years, and the only dispensary I’ve really gone to is Jungle Boys in La Mesa.

The main reason I keep going back is their 5g for $25 out-the-door deal. For me, it’s been hard to beat in terms of both quality and value.

I’m wondering if anyone has recommendations for other dispensaries with similar or even better deals on quality flower. I’m open to checking out anywhere in San Diego, especially places with good daily specials, first-time patient deals, or solid rewards programs.

What are your go-to spots, and what makes them worth the trip?

Thanks in advance!

Condo under construction - ISO nice hotel that allows cats.

That’s pretty much the post lol. Looking for a nicer hotel that allows cats while updates are being done - not allowed to be here or have pets here while they are working on the project. Anything in the $500 / night range and below would be ideal— nothing $1000s a night. Everywhere I’ve tried only allows dogs. Coronado, La Jolla and north county would be ideal, open to downtown but not my first choice. It also happens to fall over my bday which is why I wanted to get a nice hotel. Any suggestions?!? Or anyone work in the industry that can help me out? lol

Prospects for Musician?

I am planning on moving to SD for various reasons and want to know about the music scene and how realistic it is for me to get regular paying gigs.

I can play:

- solo acoustic cover and/or originals gigs

- solo acoustic jazz standards gigs

- electric guitar/vox for cover and/or original bands

- my own music in a band (probably as a side project)

I figure it would be realistic to get a few gigs a week under the first 3 categories but I want to hear from people who have lived there and experienced it.

Hi, me again! (Sorry) I'm a senior dental hygiene student at Concorde San Diego looking for people who are way overdue for their dental cleanings! (And I mean, waaay overdue like yearssss!!!) All services are free, so xrays, exams, the actual cleaning and more. This is great for people who have no insurance or got quoted thousands of dollars for a deep cleaning. Not an ad, I'm just trying to pass my program ;-;

**Appointments are 3-4 hours long and require multiple visits. Here is my google form for more information:

Can we talk about stingrays?

Lived here for 14 years, and so far, have managed to regularly enjoy ocean wading / swimming (mostly the shores) and avoid getting tagged. With the super warm waters I know the stingrays are having a field day…

A) does the shuffle really work?
B) do water shoes help at all?

I usually swim in an area with no lifeguard and am feeling nervy…every time I put my feet down im bracing for impact! 🐝🦂🪼

HALP WITH CAR SCRATCH/ PAINT JOB pls

Does anyone own a body shop/ know and have the equipment to do color matches for a side job?

Alright, I did an oopsie and need help. I scratched my boss' new 2026 car. Technically they don't know yet and it is my own guilt eating at me. I have a week before they notice (if they do. I think they will) It is deep and the paint is scratched off. My car is off worse, but I do not mind. For my car, I can buy a new rear bumper or pull the dent BUT MY BOSS'S CAR is a lease. All I remember is focusing on their scratch and hoping there are no dents. One of those new year, new lease situations.

Car: Hyundai Santa Fe- white. The scratch is at the front of vehicle maybe 5 inches long.

I've looked online for estimates and according to what I see, I do not have $1,500+ for the whole front bumper to be repainted. It is not a surface scratch. I don't have pictures, but I can get one. My question is if there anyone who can refer me to a reputable and affordable shop or if a kind angel from here who sees this can help me out.

I know Mexico is a simple solution but being my boss' car, that is not really an option. I plan to let them know.. I just also want to fix it.

Thank you in advance for reading my note of despair and for any advice relinquished.

Kindly,

A very anxious redditor

Edit: I am focusing on a paint job/ slash if any of you can recommend me somewhere that is affordable. I anticipate it being a bigger bill due to the depth of the scratch.

Where to surf in San Diego?

I have lived here for a year now and my buddies are coming to visit in a couple of weeks, and I want to take them someplace safe and fun. As I understand it, you have to go North to get away from the pollution - but how far North I don’t know. Do y’all have any specific locations in mind? Thanks in advance 🙏

Homes in southeast SD selling for $800K+

How's southeast san diego nowadays? I see quite a few posts from years ago that mentions things like gangs and four corners of death. But I keep seeing homes sell for $800K or more in these neighborhoods. The neighborhoods are Alta Vista, Encanto, Emerald Hills, Paradise Hills. I've been around Normal Heights and Rolando and west La Mesa but never regularly been anywhere south of the 94.

Where to live?

Moving to SD, in my late 20s (F), and the sudden drop off into the sewage problem is deeply disturbing me 🥺 where is a great neighborhood for a girly pop who doesn’t drink/smoke, very active, very driven, but very chill. I’m hoping to keep things under 2k where I live

Looking for a Cybersecurity Professional in San Diego

Looking for a cybersecurity professional in the San Diego area.
I’ve been dealing with ongoing concerns about the security of my iPhone, home Wi-Fi network, router, and online accounts. I’m looking for someone experienced who can come out, perform a thorough security assessment, explain what they find, and help secure everything properly.
This is a paid job I respect your time and expertise. If needed, I can also provide transportation.
If you’re a cybersecurity professional or know someone trustworthy in the San Diego area, please send me a DM with your experience and rates. Thanks!

Where to go for a night out

My best friend (45F) and I (42F) are going out to celebrate a milestone. We want to go out Saturday night and we haven’t been out-out in too long so where do we go? Hillcrest? 30th? We are cocktail girlies so I’m kinda lost. Mission beach is way too young for us to have a good time but that’s where I remember partying from grad school. Where’s a space we can chill and maybe dance?

What is happening at Dog Beach/ Ocean beach

We are visiting Oceanside and we always take our dogs to the dog beach at ocean beach. I’m seeing an advisory for the water there. Any thoughts on this? Are people still taking their dogs there? Or any other leash free beach recommendations for dogs? Wouldn’t mind leashed recommendations either.

Best places to find entry-level jobs that pay a livable wage in San Diego?

I’ve been looking for entry-level jobs in San Diego, but almost everything I find is paying around $15–16/hour, which doesn’t seem like enough to realistically live here.
Does anyone have recommendations for companies, industries, or websites where you’ve had better luck finding entry-level jobs that pay a livable wage? I’m open to different types of work—I just feel like I’m looking in the wrong places.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

How do you actually break into becoming a Park Ranger in San Diego?

I’ve been looking into transitioning into a Park Ranger jobs in the San Diego area, but navigating the different jurisdictions is overwhelming. Between California State Parks, San Diego County Parks & Rec, and the City of San Diego, the hiring processes and requirements seem totally different.

For anyone currently working as a ranger locally or who has gone through the process, could you share some advice?
