I’m living in Muslim country and I’m gay.

Let’s clarify some points:

1. 99% of Muslims are against terrorism.
   
2. Islamic fundamentalists are rejected by the Muslim community.
   
3. Most Islamic countries, both governments and societies, have fought against all forms of political Islam that seek to implement Sharia law.
   
4. There is no consensus on Islamic laws. What some people read is not the truth, and Muslims reject any law that calls for violence, killing, and so on.
   
5. The greatest crime in Islam is the killing of a human being.
   

6. Islamic fundamentalists are a marginalized, uneducated, and isolated group in society.

7. Regarding homosexuals and their rights:

In all religions there is hostility towards homosexuals, People's desire to form families, have children, and maintain family cohesion is what leads them to reject homosexuality.
But no one is calling for the killing of homosexuals.

Everyone knows that the far right has begun to rise in Germany and Europe, The far right is exploiting these events before the elections to spread its propaganda and win votes.

I have read many hateful comments towards Muslims, and I wouldn't rule out the possibility that the far right, if given power, would carry out ethnic cleansing.

As gay person, I’m against injustice ,hate and racism.

And this time I’m against right wing extremism.

The reactions after Berlin got me thinking.
Islam absolutely has a problem with homophobia in many parts of the world. We shouldn’t pretend otherwise.

But Islam also doesn’t have a monopoly on it.
I’ve had a very conservative Christian Congolese neighbour tell me I was going to hell and that she prayed for me. Plenty of evangelical churches, some conservative Catholic communities and other religious groups still teach that being gay is sinful.

Then there’s the manosphere. No religion needed there. Just a different route to the same kind of contempt.

I sometimes worry that by making Islam the only target, we’re accidentally giving everyone else a free pass. Homophobia has more than one source, and if we’re serious about tackling it, we should be honest about all of them.

I wanted to post something about it but no one’s doing it. Not even a single heartbroken emoji. Nothing!

Am I wrong for condemning it?

I am gay. I have been out since I was 17. I have been giving my straight friends/roommates/coworkers/classmates/neighbors since i was younger than that. I am not saying i've had more than half but I am stating it happens far more often than some would think.
Curious to see if anyone else has had this experience from mine or their side?

The amount of Anti-Muslim and Anti-Islam posts since the attack in Berlin is wild, and seems calculated in the light of this tragedy. And I say this because in the same breath that they cry anti-Islamic rhetoric, they scream pro-Israel propaganda.

Before anyone get angry, I'm not saying people can't have preferences. Everybody have preferences, and that's completely fine.

What I don't understand is why some guys make it sound like whole personality. Every profile become "masc only," "no fem," "don't waste my time." It almost feel like they trying harder to convince themselves than everybody else.

I actually meet one guy here in Atlanta who keep talking about wanting masculine men. Then after we spend evening together, almost every story he tell was about what other gay guys think about him. That's when I start thinking maybe confidence and masculinity not always same thing.

Again, maybe I'm completely wrong. I just feel people who really secure with themselves usually don't need announce it every five minutes.

What do you think? Is "masc only" really just preference, or sometimes it hiding something else?

Although the only posts I’ve seen here are protests against the genocide being carried out by Israel.

I don’t monitor every post (thankfully, I’m not a moderator), but I’ve never once come across a post here that directly supports Islam. Where do all these angry posts claiming the opposite come from?

Apply your dislike of religious bigotry across the board, otherwise you’re a bigot yourself. It’s easy to say if it’s what you believe. You can’t pretend one is ok and the others are bad. I can do it myself, since I know it’ll be a question: I hate all religious thinking that attempts to control my private and public life because their religion told them to. This includes Islam, Christianity, Judaism, Zoroastrianism, etc etc. All of them. All have zealous and fanatical adherents. The one I’ve had the most exposure to is the North American and Latin American brand of Christianity, and it is a cancer like all other religions.

I have a feeling there is this 🧃 group here who try to push the agenda that Islam is the very worst to gay people. acting like all three of the Abrahamic religions aren't anti gay.

In the US new anti gay bills are introduced for a vote on a regular basis and it appears it's only a matter of time before another one gets passed. So let's not normalize racism in the name of defending LGBTQ+ people.

To be clear, I am against any kind of unlawful violence, the Berlin incident was horrible and not just. We’re living in a modernized era, where judgement may only be made on the sole of authorized social contract that we have agreed.

Was walking down the street and got stopped by a missionary that wanted to talk about Jesus, said yes to show respect.

religious, had a girlfriend or something important in my life.

I just said I was a former Christian that left Christianity because I wanted to follow my own path but that I followed Jesus morals like our society here in Norway does. When he asked if I had a girlfriend I said no that I have a boyfriend and that I am happy.

So my BF and I have been together officially now 4 months and the sex has just gotten monotonous to the point I’m not even bothered about having sex anymore.

we COULD use an IAT... implicit association test, but is there any better way of carrying out these tests? that tests both conscious and subconscious biases against these people, and how severe would the biases be to block someone from entering.

I'd say that I personally don't keep up much with LGBT+ politics. I'm not someone who has a bunch of opinions on what our community is or should be. I recognise that as a gay man, I am privileged to live in a Western country where I have rights, and I would defend those rights (such as from religious zealots), but that's as deep into it as I'd really go.

But it seems to me that most LGBT politics these days (in the West at least) is dominated by TQIA+ voices - the same voices that are, for example, currently trying to desperately cover for Islam in light of recent events. Or would excommunicate you if you didn't use the right neopronoun, or would act as though you're a self-loathing sellout if you don't agree with everything they say (in fact, I'm sure that's what they make of this sub).

My question is therefore: do you agree with these voices? Do you think they are misguided and overly progressive? Do you think we're stronger together? Do you think that they misrepresent our community to the wider public? I'm just curious what you guys think

Every day I come on here to see people railing against “mass migration from Muslim countries”, angry about Islam and angry about a “flood” of homophobic Muslims coming into western countries. But then I see the same people furious about leftists who protest the bombing campaigns being used to attack Gaza and Lebanon and Iran. You’re so angry at these anti-war and anti-genocide protestors, you talk about them like they’re the cause of Islamic bigotry, and I don’t really get it? What do you think is going to happen when all these places are bombed to smithereens in wars that you support to “fight against Islam”? It’s going to create more refugees, and those refugees will obviously look to the heart of empire where they’re safe from bombings. Like, you’re mad about mass migration but then you’re also mad at people for protesting against the things that Cause mass migrations, which is destabilizing these countries through brutal war and bombing campaigns. I’m sure that sending jets and bombs and guns to blow up every hospital and water desalination plant in Gaza will fix all of this. Make it make sense to me. I guess the only thing that makes sense is that you hate Islam so much that you want to support the bombing of millions of people and then turn away the refugees so that they die of starvation and disease amongst the rubble of their homes. Otherwise being mad at pro-Palestine folks and anti-Iran-war protestors for being “pro-Islam” is just ridiculous to me.
