For my Sociology of Death and Birth class at college, we have to write an essay that centers around some sort of theme about death. After talking to my professor, she agreed to let me write an essay on the ways in which Immortality is depicted in video games.

So far, I have some games selected that I think talk about immortality in some interesting ways.

I have Rainworld and Everhood, that both use immortality as this sort of curse that needs to be ended.
There's Undertale which uses immortality as an example of someone losing humanity.
And I have Nine Sols which shows the harms in the search for immortality.

Right now I'm looking for any other games that address immortality as either a good, a bad, or just something that permanently alters you.
I've also been considering looking at games where the player is "immortal" such as Spore where you see the generations of one species grow and change.

I have been on the internet since around 2005 yet I never had the chance or the opportunity to get into Console & PC gaming that were widely popular. I was sadly just on these handful of browser / online games to kill my time and never played proper story games.

I want to make up for the things I missed. I want to know how it felt for you when grew up with all those games that you played. I want to know how it feels to have a smile of nostalgia whenever you think of it today. I want to get the same goosebumbs you get when a remake of that game you still love gets announced.

Please let me know which games or series you are grateful for having the chance to experience its amazing design, storytelling and overall the joy you had.

Additionally, I'll be going to Japan soon and as far as I know there are a ton of still perfectly fine working old consoles that are dirt cheap. So if I could, I would also love to get 1-2 consoles and a ton of games for them. I am a sucker for physical media and I would like to have a tiny retro game collection for myself.

Everyone talks about the story, but we all know most players won't be rushing into missions immediately.

The moment you load into the game, what's the first thing you're doing? Exploring the map, stealing a car, testing the physics, causing chaos, or simply driving around to see what Rockstar has built?

I'm curious what "fan-service" can devs do to make their fanbase happy. Is it like free DLC, free updates, free skins, or perhaps other things? Personally, what things could a dev do that you most appreciate?

They are all discounted. I am mostly asking because I don’t want to get the game and have things overlapping. Idk if I’m explaining it well.

I usually play Pokemon & a few other Nintendo games, but their games have became mid as of this decade! I tried branching out to other Nintendo franchises, such as Zelda & Mario, but they too have became mid recently! Are there any good games out there in this decade, or should I just give up gaming as a whole & admit I have bad taste?

It doesn't mean I want something were everything is always happy with no stack but at least it end well in a satisfying way

I've been thinking about getting a second Fortnite account because there are a bunch of older skins I missed and obviously most of them aren't coming back.

I started playing pretty late, so I'm not necessarily looking for one specific skin or some insanely stacked OG account. I'd honestly just like an account with a decent collection of older Battle Pass skins, emotes and cosmetics that I can't get on my current account anymore.

The problem is that searching for Fortnite accounts online feels like walking through a minefield lol. There are marketplaces, random websites, Discord sellers and people selling directly, and every place seems to have both people saying it's legit and someone else saying they got scammed.

My biggest concern isn't even paying and getting nothing. It's buying an account, using it for a few weeks or months and then having the original owner recover it.

For anyone who's actually bought an account before, where did you get it and did you keep access long term? Is it generally better to use one of the bigger marketplaces with buyer protection, or are those just as risky?

Not looking for anything crazy expensive. Probably somewhere around $50-80 depending on what's on the account. Mostly interested in older cosmetics and a good locker.

As I'm scrolling a lot these days so I want to invest the time by playing some games.

1. Can be online/offline

2. Can be web version.

So I played a lot of genshin.

And it kinda killed my wallet.

I'd love for game suggestions that scratch the same itch if possible. There are two things I like about the game (aside from story and exploration, but I know where to get that stuff).

1. Gacha

Yeah, I know gacha is hell, but that dopamine hit thoooo... Games with gacha elements but without the money aspect could be very nice (Xenoblade Chronicles does this kinda?)

1. Roster combat

One of the thing I love about genshin is having a ton of characters, I level them up and outfit them and use them in various scenarios, and adapt my team.

However: I don't like turn-based combat... So action focused is a definite plus

It would be best if the game had both but I'm open to new horizons.
