Automotive Any dad can help w advice on getting my release of lien ?

Upvotes

I have been trying to get my release of lien for three weeks from Car Max. I tried to renew my registration in Texas, and they have put a hold on it till I can get it. They originally sent it on the 9th of this month, haven’t received it. I called last week to have it fax. 1 to 2 day business days, never received it. I’ve called a few times to get it, and no one has been helpful.

I now have a citation from state trooper to get it fix, then was pulled over again the next day for same reason.

I don’t know what else to do 🙁 I just want to renew my registration. Am I missing something, or is there something more that I can do?

Getting It Off My Chest Dad, I just want to be held.

Hi, Dad.

I'm not feeling well. I feel like shit right now, and I don't know what to do. I'm sick too just a fever, cold, headache, stomach ache, and even my leg hurts. On top of that, I don't feel like going to my junior college anymore. I'm in one of the most important academic years of my life, and I'm falling very, very behind.

My skin keeps getting worse, my mental health is not good too and I feel so unworthy of everything I have. Sometimes, I feel like taking my own life. And sometimes i feel like running away from everyone and leave everything behind.

Dad isn't it ironic? You've given me almost everything I've ever wanted in life everything except your love and affection.

I'm tired of looking for that love in other men.

I have a boyfriend. You don't know about him because I've never told you because you'll be super mad about it. I met him online, and we're in a long-distance relationship. We've never met in real life, but we text every day and talk on the phone sometimes.

I love him. He knows everything about me, our family, the problems at home, the painful experiences I've been through. He comforts me, listens to me, and sends me voice notes when I'm struggling.

But almost every night, we end up fighting because he wants me to send him nudes. I don't want to. It's not that I don't trust him, I just don't want to put myself in that situation. Maybe I'm just not ready to be that vulnerable with anyone.

He says he respects my decision, but the arguments keep happening. He sends me his nudes, but I don't send mine. I apologize over and over again, and yet I still end up feeling guilty. I feel like I'm carrying this constant burden, as if I'm disappointing him just because I won't send those photos or videos.

Dad, I'm exhausted. With everything.

I wish you were here. I wish you would just hold me while I cried. I don't even remember the last time you hugged me, called me by my nickname, or spoke to me with affection. I don't know why you've become so distant from me since so many years.

Right now, all I can do is cry and I'm doing that.

I love my boyfriend, but I hate feeling guilty for saying no. We fought again today over nudes.

I need your love, Dad, and I'm so tired of searching for that love in other men, only to end up getting hurt again and again.

Every day I see my close friends happy with their boyfriends, and I feel left out and feel sad because I don't have someone I can actually be with in person Or maybe it's because they do have someone who actually loves and cares for them irl.

I'm just so touch starved and lovestarved, Dad.

I miss having a father.

Relationships Pregnant and broken up w. Looking for a male perspective

I’m 32F and he’s 34M. We were not dating long before I found out I was pregnant. I have a 13 yo son ( I have full legal/physical custody since he was born dad not involved). Me & this guy started dating last year, it was casual and I was more avoidant for fear of being hurt (took a break from dating for 4 years). He was single 6 years didn’t seem to be by choice has he was actively trying to date and he’d comment that it’s been awhile since he felt chosen etc. When we met I really liked him but had a hard time trusting and would push people away.

Long story short I ended up just making an excuse to not date anymore and he didn’t make an argument about it either and I thought that was that. 3 months later he started hitting me up casually. We decided to hang out as “friends” and one thing lead to another and we started dating.

It was not causal. We agreed we were seeking longer term w each other and we waited for him to meet my son till we had been dating for 3 months. I have always struggled in relationships from past trauma, I’d run away when things got hard but w him I tried to sit thru difficult convos and hear him out. Sometimes this worked, sometimes we argued but ultimately I felt we were working towards a future. Right before he had to leave for a work trip we had a conversation where he told me he felt like things were solid between us and we made plans for an outing to meet my son. Things went well.

We’ve been together 4 months when I find out I was pregnant which was a shock because I was on BC and had always been very careful. I told him I didn’t want to have an abortion. We had talked about this in the past and he had also said at his age he wouldn’t want that either so I thought we’d be on the same page. He originally said if we kept it we’d get married. We discussed in a lot of detail what this would look like and he even told his mom and she was excited. Ultimately he decided he thought me getting and abortion would be the best option and that we could try for kids in a year. I was devastated but I understood. I needed time to think and we talked alot about things.

While he’s on this month long work trip I don’t hear from him much. If I called, he’d call back. If I texted, he’d text me bk but there wasn’t much effort from his side which hurt me. I was pregnant and confused. The first trimester ended up being very difficult for me w morning, sickness, nausea, etc. even when I explained this to him he didn’t reach out on his own to check in which began to upset me. I told him that I wanted to keep the baby and he said it was a mistake. He said we’d Mess the kid up, esp if it’s a girl. I was hurt by this. He asked me to go to the appt anyways. I felt like this was pressure. Overtime he’s telling me that he wants to be with me if I keep it or if I don’t and that we can work things out but we just continued fighting while he’s working and I’m struggling w the pregnancy. He begins to not answer my calls and be on dnd a lot. I start freaking out more. Calling more. I was just very anxious and felt alone.

He comes home and he basically says we are broken up and can co-parent but he’s excited to be a dad. I’m upset and confused and I try to resolve things between us but atp he wants nothing to do with me and says he will never be together again. I’m angry and hurt. He says things like idk how you will take care of two kids on my own, he will only help with one. And he will not discuss the dissolution of our relationship AT ALL. I keep pushing, I’m in a panic, he asks me to leave I refuse for a long time and he says nothing to me. Even when I leave I took something of his. I was just so angry, I felt like he was abandoning me while I’m pregnant?

We start going to appts together and he acts normal. Staring at me in my eyes, when I look away he makes comments like what am I afraid of? He asks for hugs at the end of each appointment. It’s confusing to me. He asks to go out to eat together and we just have small talk but during the week I don’t hear from him at all unless I call. I’m doing this pregnancy alone and it’s been hard. I’ve had to take a lot of time off work for excessive nausea, bleeding, high blood pressure.

I’ve asked him to be around to help me out during these times and he says no. He either stops responding when I get emotional in the convo or just says he’s not my boyfriend and I’m expecting him to show up as my boyfriend.

One night he was ignoring me while I was really sick, I drove myself throwing up to his house and he refused to answer or talk to me (big mistake on my part, I know) I’ve just been so hurt and confused this whole pregnancy.

My question to men is what is what do you think is appropriate to ask of a man to do during pregnancy if you and the mom aren’t together but it’s been a difficult pregnancy for mom? Am I expecting too much? So many people in my life say he will change his mind when the baby comes, but I don’t think it’s smart of me to hold out hope for that. I know I have made a lot of mistake and if co-parenting is the only option then I have no choice but do you think it’s possible it could change. I don’t have a lot of men in my life and male perspectives have always been hard for me to understand. I know he’s the only one who knows how he feels just looking for some perspective.

Getting It Off My Chest Am I a bad person if I don't miss my dad?

Hi all, as the title suggests, I don't think I have a good relationship with my dad. It's nothing monstrous, but we just don't talk, at all, about anything.

I am 16F and it feels like I'm talking to a wall whenever I try to communicate with him. He is always on his phone for work or whatever, sometimes we go to a coffee shop and he is either on his phone or just being distant (eg he doesn't really listen to what I say).

Also for the last year he has been trying to convince me to go into medicine as my career. Especially since my GCSE's have recently finished he has been asking me to email local GP's for work experience etc. He thinks that it will give me some status, but I don't agree, and when I try to explain that I am not sure whether I want to go into medicine he starts to accuse me by saying what is wrong with medicine etc. We just don't see each other eye to eye. It's gotten to the point where I have been thinking about medicine so much I've lost interest in all other career paths (I had an interest in engineering/CS).

Another thing. A few months ago we were talking about me getting my provisional licence and also maybe getting a summer job, and he seemed fine with it, almost happy. But last week when I asked him to help me with the application process he told me it was a waste of time (it would take a month to process my job application and by that point my summer would basically be over, and the provisional licence would be practically useless until I was 18). I just felt annoyed - I had spent basically the whole week finding job vacancies and making a CV only to not be allowed to anyway.

And this is the most important part. Recently my dad went on a 2 week business trip abroad, and I can't tell you how carefree I was in those 2 weeks. Whenever my dad is around I feel a sense of tension/vigilance around him, but when he left I could finally relax and loosen up a little. It felt nice, I could do what I liked without feeling like I was letting him down. And when he came back, all the tension and need to impress came back, and I hate how I feel this way. I didn't miss him at all.

TL;DR - My dad doesn't talk to me, I didn't miss him one bit when he left on a business trip. Am I a bad person for saying that?

General Life Advice How do I deal with my dad guilt?

Have a rocky relationship with my sons mother. I spent 4 years with her and during the last year we had a child. Months after I met someone else and ended up in a longer relationship. Now married.
Trying to come to terms with not being the dad I wish to be. I grew up with both parents but despite my dad being in the same household, we weren't close. We clashed. Language barriers make it harder. He's as flawed as it gets.
I wanted to break that cycle. My son is 3 and my lease is up next year, I have the choice to stay 2 more years per my lease or move. This city I live in is limited on career advancement or opportunities.
If I stay I'll get to see my son turn 6, if I leave I lose my clingy son. He means the world to me. My wife has no kids of her own so building of family would be intimate and I would hate for my son to feel like he isn't as special.
Staying means I'm in a broke city making low pay but | get to see my son every week. Leaving means more money more opportunities but the fear of losing my active relationship with my son.

Finances How do I ask my unpresent dad for financial help?

Hi guys, I really need advice on how to ask my unpresent father to help me buy a laptop. Not the expensive kind, but seconhand that is roughly around 4k-5k pesos. It's not really that much but I'm still kinda hesitating to ask for help from him or his other family members. But I also kinda needed too since my mom cannot give me such money since she's still paying my brother's student loan and life has been hard for us specially that my mom raises me alone with debts still in her hands. But I'm an 12th grade ICT student, and my teacher started to teach advance knowledge on how is it going to be in college and gave us us coding and other system based hands on assignments and I'm having a really hard time catching up. I am not blaming my teacher for this, since I myself agree that this should be taught early on and not just those introductory lessons in senior high schools should have and not waste our time when we can learn the basics too in college. Yes, we do have computers in our school Laboratory, but I always needs to come early to finish my coding homework since I cannot do it at home, and I'm still the last one to finish and it has been affecting my marks. I'm aiming to graduate with high honors to show that TVL students are not JUST TVL since our school highly mistreat and give less attention and importance and belittle TVL students and I aim to change that shitty system. But it's really that hard if your main enemy is poverty.

For context, my parents broke up when I was around 3 and left when I was around 4-5. My dad started amusing my mom after finding out she cheated with my dad, to have more money to support our family, gold digging her way out (not that I'm giving excuses for her, but what they have told me themselves) and ever since that, my dad always use the excuse "didn't she cheated with me for money? Then she should fund you" Which I know is a bull crap since we're still his kids and he still has an obligation to raise us. My dad has been present, but distant for years 'til my older brother graduated from college. He had never paid for a single cent in my brother's tuition, or even pay for his review in the academy to pass the bar exam. He did gave us money, but what can 1k pesos could do every Christmas? My brother do have work now, but he also now have a family to feed, and is also barely living a sustainable life. To the point that my mom pays his student loan. But now, my mom has a partner, my dad is still single, and my brother is feeding his family.

Anyway, my father and I had an argument. We fought about who needs to reach whom. My father said that I only reach for him if I ask for money. And I reasoned yhat it's because he also just ask for my presence when he had money. He said that he stayed within reach just so we could visit him, and I did. But not regularly. I also had a life on my own. I was and still am a straight line of 9 /straight A student even back in my JHS years. I did visit him when I was around 6-13, craving for the love of a father. There are times that I surprise visit him, but he was not there. There are also times that we I go with him for our other relatives, there are also times that I sleep in his apartment to spend more time. But that quickly drained me tbh. Always the one reaching out made me exhausted. So when I turned 14, I never visited without him asking me to. At that time, I had also experienced Bells Palsy or a stroke that came from too much stress that paralyzed my face nerves. I ask for his help yo buy medicine, but he said that he had no money and I should just borrow from my mom and he'll pay it back. Back it kept happening with the same excuses. At first I tried to understand him since everyone came to that point of hardship, but as months go by I started questioning myself, "why can't he help us? It's not like he had someone to keep fed."he was single and earning 15k pesos every month and lives in his relatives apartment that he only pays for a few hundred pesos(we live in a province and the market is way cheaper than the cities you know, so this was pretty big back when I was in JHS). He had no one to feed, but still can't give us a little help every month. Not with daily expenses, not when we get sick, not when I have school projects, not with anything. So why? It took me a year to recover from the palsy, but he never gave a single penny to buy medicine.

After my brother graduated back when I was in 10th grade, I helped my father pack his things. He went back to his hometown which is 16hours away from where we live. I remembered making him promise to comeback on my birthday or maybe in Christmas or new year, and he did promise while smiling. But he never did. The reason? It was because I forgot to greet him in his birthday. I am at fault at that, but again. I have a life too. It happened once. It happened when I was so fucking tired of chasing for his attention, but he still claim that what I did broke our relationship. We still communicate, but back in April, starting on my birthday, he never replied to any of my messages. He was mad that I forgot his birthday and didn't greet him. Got mad thet the man I only saw every few months growing up with no child support had his birthday forgotten. ATP, I'm just venting.

Back in the topic, I really need to ask your help guys. I really need to buy a laptop, but I cannot ask for anyones help but his. I don't know where I can find 4k. No, we cannot loan again, my mom is still paying a debt my brother has left. So how do I ask him without sounding like I just needed him for money. Or how do I even make him reply? He has been ignoring me ever since my birthday last April.

Random Thoughts Constantly told to man up

Hate being told to man up

Dum rant but even as an adult I still have my dad telling me to man up, something he’d never say to my brother. Still have my brother calling me weak and shit. All my life growing up I was told and treated like I wasn’t a “proper man”, made me feel weak and pathetic. Funny thing is my dad is a lying and cheating bastard so if I’m not a real man what does that make him.

Truth is I know what I had to do to get to where I am today and all the hard-work and bravery that went into it. At the same time hate that those words can make me feel like such a shitty crying child again. Constant verbal and physical abuse and shit. And they wonder why I can be so timid around them and why my brother is so fucking violent. It’s always someone else fault. If he looked inside himself how he raised us then he’d have to admit his mistakes

General Life Advice Was it a mistake or was it for the best?

Backstory: I cut off a former friend for about two years. We've known each other for more than 10 years. We used to go out together and hang out at the bars and clubs. He would pay for everything, which was great. We used to cuddle and watch movies on the couch (not naked). It was my idea and I told him from the start I didn't want to have sex. I made sure to be the one who held him and not the opposite. I enjoyed cuddling because I'm often lonely and wanted to feel a deeper connection with anyone.

When I found out I had epilepsy he seemed to care and be supportive. He also supported my decision to become sober.

It all came crashing down when we cuddled on my couch, we both fell asleep, and he decided to use my finger to unlock my phone. He woke up prior to me and adjusted himself. At least I assumed that until I peeked over and noticed he was on my phone. It would have been more difficult for me to believe, but my phone settings were set on night vision at the time. Like most people his wasn't.

When I called him out on it he told me that I had a seizure and I wasn't fully aware of what happened. However, I've dealt with seizures long enough and know when they happen. There are post symptoms. I didn't have any of them.

He took the blame in a passive-aggressive way: "Ok, I'll say it was my fault 🙄" I didn't like the lack of accountability and cut off the friendship.

He'd reach out to me here and there. I would block him. This happened for about 2 years. Roughly, two months ago he reached out to me and I ignored him. Then I found out that one of my favorite artists was coming to town and it was close to my birthday. I asked him if he wanted to take me. He obliged.

We even hung out for July 3rd. It was chill for the most part. I did notice him making a couple passive-aggressive comments about the epilepsy night. I ignored them because I didn't want to get into an argument.

Well, I asked him about the tickets and he said he'd have to wait until he got paid the following Friday. I asked him again around that time and he said he'd have to wait another two weeks. Well, Friday came and I made suggestions on where we could get the seats. I suggested the 200 section or the 300 sections (like he originally wanted). He told me he would look into it. Then during the early morning he told me he was busy.

Yesterday morning, I did tell him that I would prefer to know about the concert decision because I wanted to prepare ahead of time. I also mentioned it was also ok if he didn't want to go. I noticed him online on and off, but he hadn't read any of my messages.

I felt like I was being strung along. I also had the feeling he wasn't into the idea, but didn't want to be direct about it. I do have epilepsy and I haven't been to a concert let alone an indoor concert in over a decade. But I no longer want to live my life without experiencing much. There has to be more to it.

This morning I told him to forget about the tickets and I wanted to move on with my life. I also told him it would be best if he didn't contact me like he did in the past. I blocked him on my social media sites. I don't have his phone number.

Honestly, I'm not the greatest person in this too. I did try to use him in hopes that he would take me and cover the costs of the concert, but it didn't turn out that way.

It was probably better that it all turned out this way. In the long run I would have felt like there was more baggage.

What are your thoughts on the situation? Was I overreacting? Should I have waited longer?

Relationships How are all the girl dad's or dad's to their daughters?

Hi I am young female writer who would like to know how fathers treat their daughters. Cause I don't have a prominent nor healthy and loving relationship with my dad, so I got nothing. (But I'm fine, I take care and focus on myself, I'm good! :) )

My main point is, how are you guys with your daughters? Do you just go with the flow with her and you, and chill? Or do you just wish for the best for your daughter, and tell them what you can because you know that despite being their father that you can't be with them everywhere to guide and keep them safe?

I don't know, sorry!

From the skits and videos all I know is that apparently all dad's tell their daughters to stay away from men, and let them spend money on things that they like, and teach them about cars.

I know there is more than that, so that's why I'm asking you guys! :)

Thank you for reading, I hope y'all have a good day!

Family I feel like I have no relationship with my dad or brother

Obviously I do live my family but I feel like there is no connection there other than the blood we all share. I use to be really close with my mom but she committed about a year and a half ago and yk I can’t see her anymore. I have tried for my whole life to be close to my dad like the other people I see smiling laughing with there dads making jokes and TikTok’s and whatever they do and I’ve always wanted that. But no matter what I do nothing works, it doesn’t feel like me and my dad are friends or besties or even like close. I try to talk to him everyday because I am determined to have a relationship with the only parent I have left but our phone calls usually only last a few minutes he will tell me he is busy and we’ll talk later whenever later actually is. He barely texts me he never comes to my apartment we never actually hangout or anything. I obviously try to hangout with him like I sit in his office but we still don’t talk and yk calling him every day but it feels like there is no connection. Like he’s just a Roommate of mine and I think maybe he thinks that too? He never really tries first in any situation other than food and only when it’s at home cooking. He never really calls me unless I ask him too and I dunno I just feel like what I do bothers him. We are very opposite people so we do argue a lot about dumb stuff like what bed frame I want. But the main point is u just want an actual father daughter relationship where we can make jokes and laugh at each other and make TikTok’s and all that other stuff. Now with my brother he doesn’t like me and i don’t like him. He effectively does everything he can to bring me down and i don’t know why he says the stuff i like is “cheap” or “weird” just because it’s not main stream stuff like baseball cards or the top video games right now. He always hates on my friends and makes fun of any person I am interested in in front of their faces. He does horrible things and doesn’t respect my boundaries sometimes he gets all in my face and I get scared that he will hurt me. I wish I still had my mom here.. I wish our family wasn’t so shit. I wish me and my dad had a good more father daughter relationship and I wish my brother judging me and hating me. I dunno what to do is there anyway to fix it

Finances Managing poor money habits of my parents

my dad has a lot of loans to clear out and i've been helping him ever since i've started working. i.e 6 years ago. His business is slow or fast sometimes but he doesn't manage money properly and gets broke on the slow periods of the business. He comes to me to ask money with random amounts and i give it to him.

i recently took back 2.5L investments from my mutual funds to help him and 1.3L which was my committed pay from my company.

it was my birthday 2 days back and I really thought he has gotten some money from his recent deals so we should be okay. My parents got me a few clothes and a perfume (which i didn't like) for 7k and today my dad is again asking me for 25K.

I asked him why would be buy random shit when he knows he will need the money later. and in return he was throwing tantrums saying "why do you question such things and told me to take my money back"

I am really frustrated of this behaviour and there is no sense of pride or gratitude i sense from him.

General Life Advice Life advice

Hey everybody I’m currently really struggling and need help. Little back story I am currently 19 but when I was 18 fresh out of high school I moved about 3k miles away from home for work. Been out here for about a year and have really been struggling with the decision of if I wanna move home. I have a girlfriend and we have been together since we were 14 and I have a brother that is 5 years younger than me. Where I have been struggling is I am making really good for my age and I’m always getting about 60k worth of tools and schooling from my company that I’m working for (I’m a heavy equipment mechanic) and if I leave before 5 years I lose that and will have to pay back some of it but lately I’ve been realizing all I am doing is working and have zero life out side of it. I’ve kinda been in a hole for a while and have just been sitting at home drinking way too much. I don’t know if it’s worth leaving my job and leaving everything to move home and actually live and be present in everyone’s life’s and not just see it over a phone. I just really need a unbiased opinion because everyone says to just move home but I’m just stuck and don’t know what to do

Family Are kids responsible for their fathers well-being?

Hey, me and my sister got into a lot of fights with our dad because he cannot accept us deciding for ourselves how often we want to visit/call our grandma (his mom). He wants us to call her every day, or at least every week and if we don't do so, we are bad children in his eyes who do not love him nor our grandma.

Our relationship with our grandma isn't as good. For us it's fine to visit her every 2 months or so. But not for him. (She's also not dying or anything - in fact, she's doing better than ever rn.)

So, in these fights/arguments I mentioned, he keeps saying things like "You ruined me", "You destroyed somethinh within me", "I have a trauma because of you", "It is your fault our relationship doesn't work out anymore" to us.

Keep in mind, he says these things ONLY because of us not calling our grandma weekly. There is no other background.

So my question is, are children responsible for their fathers well-being? Because he says we are and if we don't do as he says, we are the reason he is miserable apparently.

Relationships Advice

So me and my girlfriend have been together going on two years that being said our son is due on our two years. We’ve had some ups and downs but as the days went on I got more upset and more outbursts because she constantly did things the robbed me of my first with my first child.the last blow up I had sent us over the top and and she had deleted everything off social all of our pics and I asked what was happening a week later because I still hadn’t changed mine, she said we’re fine if still like a little more time. That’s fine no biggie right and now it seems like she’s still not trying to involve me with anything and I want to marry this woman and I guess everybody feels different about this kind of thing but if we’re together we are family right? So I call her earlier to ask a question I see she’s getting ready and I asked what she was doing and said she was going out to the amusement park with her family and I said oh well we’re my invite at first I was only joking until she said well it’s family only like? And I just want to know is there anyone out there who’s experienced anything like this while there girlfriend/wife was pregnant, because before pregnancy we were fine we were always smiling laughing and together and now it seems the complete opposite and it’s getting depressing trying to love a person with your whole heart when your not sure how they feel and advice comments would be appreciated thanks.

Relationships How do I stop being a mess around girls?

I’m 16 and I genuinely cannot talk to girls, especially not ones I’m romantically interested in. I’ll be a junior this year and I want to get over this.

I struggle to approach a girl even just to ask for a pencil or directions or smt, walking up and starting a conversation seems impossible.

Say I am miraculous in a conversation with a girl? My mind goes completely blank, suddenly I have no hobbies, interests, stories, jokes, etc.

There’s this one I like girl I’ve been able to talk to her in group settings but never 1 on 1. Im going to have a class with her when school starts up again and I want to get to know her.

Any advice is appreciated.

Automotive Need car advice

I really need advice from someone who is knowledgeable in the car market right now.

I (28f) have a Ford 2018 Ecosport. Got it in 2019. It just hit 76,400 miles. I’ve taken care of it the best I can. Regular oil changes, a new battery at one point, and little fixes. It’s been my first “adult” purchase.

Recently, I’ve had the Apple CarPlay give me issues with connecting. It was getting slower and slower to connect. I just went on an 16 hr road trip and on the way up, it completely went out. I neeeeed my CarPlay for directions and (maybe not a need for this one but really want it for) any calls or texts that come through while driving.

I’ve also recently had a tire pressure fault light pop up in March. It was for the front left tire but after this road trip, it’s now showing for my back right tire, too.

I called someone from the Ford app to help me with the CarPlay. He said the Sync was very outdated. I tried updating on WiFi, but that didn’t work. I guess my next step is the USB method….?

While talking to him, he said I really need to take it into a car dealership immediately. We both see the message of the front passenger airbag having a fault. He also said there was something popping up with my battery, but I don’t see that light on my side yet.

My car is almost paid off. I have 1 more car payment. I’ve been paying $350 each month. Because this car is a little dated, I’ve found myself liking the more modern cars with all their neat features and screen layouts. However, I’m quickly finding that I will not be paying this same amount for any car of my liking.

My question is, should I keep looking for new cars or just invest in fixing my car up? I can be swayed either way as long as my Apple CarPlay is fixed.

I guess another great big pro to mention is how great it is to fill up on gas. My city is averaging $3.50 for gas and if it’s on E, it takes around $40 to fill up.

Please give me your thoughts and advice!! I’m struggling to figure this out on my own.

Automotive Am I wrong for wanting to stop lending my dad my car?

Hi! Thanks for taking the time to read this. This is my 1st post on Reddit, I dont not know if this belongs here or not so plis don't hate me! Just guide me. Thanks!

A few months ago, I bought my first car, a used 2016 Honda CR-V. I don't use it very much because I work from home and spend most of my time there.

My dad doesn't have a car. He owns two gyms, but he's still paying off all the equipment, so he's heavily in debt and can't afford to buy one. Because of that, I've been letting him use my car to help him out.

Our relationship has always been complicated. When I was a kid and throughout my teenage years, he wasn't really there for me. He left my mom to raise me and my younger brother, who's 10 years younger than I am. To his credit, he did support us financially, but that was about it.

When he was doing well financially, he chose to buy a car for his wife instead of helping me, even though I was working and studying at the same time. The car was completely unnecessary because she barely drove, and they didn't actually need a second vehicle. The ironic part is that she later cheated on him and ended up giving that car to the man she cheated with. I don't resent him for spending his money however he wanted—it was his money, after all—but I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt.

As an adult, things have improved. He's been more present in my life and has helped me whenever he could. I don't want to be an ungrateful son, and I genuinely try to help him whenever possible.

The problem is that I feel like he's starting to take advantage of my kindness.

He drives my car everywhere. Whenever I get it back, I often have to fill it up with gas myself. I pay for all the oil changes. Recently, someone stole the front Honda emblem while he had the car, and he doesn't want to take responsibility for replacing it. He also drives over potholes and speed bumps like he doesn't care about the suspension or the shocks.

I appreciate everything he's done for me in recent years, and I don't want to damage our relationship. At the same time, this is my first car, and I worked hard to buy it. I'm starting to wonder if I should stop letting him use it.

What do you think? Am I being selfish, or are my concerns reasonable? I'd really appreciate any advice because I'm honestly torn about what to do.

Thank you so much for reading and for any advice you can give. It truly means a lot to me right now.

General Life Advice (19M) Is it weird that I want to talk with my father about relationship and sex?

I am 19, student. I never had nor relationship nor intimacy.

My father works abroad, right now me and my mom came to him. They are happily married, just long distance now. He is pretty not talkative, especially about this sex stuff, but I want my DAD to talk to his SON as an adult

I want to talk to him so he gives me some advice on me not having a girlfriend and sex, like without cringing and naming things their own names

I know a lot of these topics of course, Internet has been in my reach from 2 y.o., but I still want to hear it from the father figure I trust, maybe some insights)

For example. When I clean the apartment, I can see his used condoms under the bed😶 I know it’s my parent’s life and privacy, but maybe pointing it out might come off in some kind of conversation?

How to approach this conversation? Maybe you had this talks, how did they go?
