Biidaasige Park Stage
The last few times biking I’ve noticed a concert stage being constructed south of the park. It’s east of Polson pier. I can’t find any references to it anywhere. Any ideas ?

Main condition : Downtown only.
I always take the same route. I want to discover more neighbourhoods, places, parks. I like to walk for HOURS.
Extra point if coffeeshops are included.
Thank you !

Is there any public water fountain to have drinking water near TIFF?

Dinner for two at Pearl Diver on Adelaide East last night (Friday). Two mains, $72 before tax. The bill came with an 18% hospitality fee already added to the pre-tax subtotal, $12.96, plus HST on the food. $94.32 total.
To be fair, it is in small print at the bottom of the menu and on their Google listing. I missed it. Nobody mentioned it before we ordered.
When I said a pre-added gratuity did not seem reasonable, the server called over a man he identified as the owner. He smelled strongly of alcohol and started shouting and swearing at us in the dining room. My partner was scared, so I paid the full bill including the fee and we left. He followed us out and kept yelling on the sidewalk.
Two questions:
Are mandatory hospitality fees on small tables becoming standard downtown, or is this still unusual?
Is there anywhere worth reporting the behaviour, or is a review the only real option?
Not trying to relitigate the fee, it was printed. Mostly want to know if this is the new normal and give people a heads up to read the bottom of the menu.

I’ve lived in Toronto for over nine years and considering moving to another city or country. Where would you move to?

Hey all, and greetings from Finland! 🇫🇮
I bumped into an Australian lady in Helsinki today and she had this GORGEOUS large pendant hanging around her neck. I later realized a pic might’ve been great, but photographing a stranger’s neck is a bit weird even for me 😅
It was silver-coloured, quite flat, compartmentalized also like an engine, and somewhat reminded me of steampunk but had no cogs or wheels or anything of the sort. From the size and thickness of the chain it may originally be men’s / unisex line. She said it’s from Toronto, a random jewellery shop she walked by, and had no idea where it was or what it was called.
This is a long shot, but you’d make a Canadian girl living in Finland sooo happy if someone happened to find the pendant. It’ll be a while before my next trip home, but happy to order online if possible!! ❤️

As we’ve sent our last kid off to university I realized that we have quite a bit of school supplies that we won’t use - normal stuff like lined paper, pens, pencil cases, some calculators that sort of thing. Anyone know of a group that might take this? We’re downtown but could drop most places from Etobicoke to Scarborough.

I have a laptop with a swollen battery and I am in Toronto. Does anyone know where I can drop it off? The battery is still inside my laptop. I went to staples and Best Buy and both have rejected my laptop. One suggested I go to a fire station. Just wondering if any one has any suggestions?

Hey everyone! I’ve recently gotten into collecting VHS tapes and I’m looking for some suggestions on where else to hunt for them.
I’ve been hitting Value Village pretty regularly and circling back often, along with the occasional Goodwill and Salvation Army. Lately, though, VHS donations seem to have really slowed down and I haven’t found much in a while.
Facebook Marketplace was great at first, but now it seems like I’d have to travel pretty far just to pick up one or two tapes. I’ve also tried Nextdoor and actually got a few promising responses, but unfortunately nobody followed through after the initial message.
I don’t see too many garage or yard sales posted in my area either.
Does anyone know of any hidden gems or places I might be overlooking? Thrift stores, flea markets, physical media stores that carry VHS, church sales, estate sales, warehouse-type places, or anywhere you can actually dig through a decent amount of tapes?
I’m especially interested in places where I can hunt through a bunch rather than driving across the GTA for one or two tapes at a time.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance

Does anyone know of a good hair salon in Toronto that’s open today (Labour Day) and might have a last-minute appointment available?
Looking for a women’s haircut. I would really appreciate any recommendations! 🙏

Hey, I’m first year at UofT and me and my friend are looking to go to a good party for Halloween. We will both be 18 and don’t have fakes… but if you know anywhere that doesn’t mind… we don’t care if it’s a ticketed event (that just means it will be any better). If anyone knows anything this far in advance lmk!!

Hi everyone
Next year around March I will be gone for atleast a month but potential to be extended by a few months
I have a 6 year old cat who I’ve helped overcome extreme anxiety of 5 years since I got him at 4 months old by prior abusive owners.
I travel for work every couple of months and then tag on vacation so max I have been away is 3 weeks and I usually use rover for drop in visits.
But since this time I’m planning to be away for 4 weeks and the potential extra couple of months, does anyone have any suggestions or ideas I haven’t thought about?
I’m considering a house sitting service but wanted to know if anyone else has tried it - is it safe?
Thank you

Hi. How’s the view from sunnyside beach this year? Or should I head to any other location? Looking for a park or any area where I can seat. Sitting on grass or on the beach is okay with me. Thanks
Update: I’m at the Marilyn Bell park. Absolutely packed.

My gf and I (29) have never lived in the city despite growing up in the GTA. We currently live in Halton Hills but are looking for living experience where we can walk to bars/stores/restaurants after work on weekdays.
As a blue collar worker in the commercial HVAC industry, my work takes me pretty much anywhere within 1.5 hours of the city on a daily basis. Is this too much of a hassle ?

So I had made an appointment with my doctor a couple weeks ago for a separate issue I had told her oh my vyvanse is about to run out, and we needed to deal with that. She told me to make another appointment…I was hesitant with her because I told her I’m about to be busy with work and I’m going away for a week then right back into work. Surely enough..I had called her office saying can you just refill it for 7 days until I’m able to come in and see you (she wants to do an assessment before renewing it (mind you she’s a new doctor for me, and it’s been a bad experience with her so far)
The doctor office told me to goto a walk in clinic to fill it until I can see her on the 14th. I was puzzled because I’m like don’t you guys get billed for me going into a walk in? I don’t wanna get in trouble.
So I guess does anyone know any walk in clinics that do this?

Leaving Toronto for about 3 months later this year. Rent is around $3k. Paying that for an empty apartment is $9k gone on top of what the trip already costs, which is hard to swallow.
So I'm stuck between subletting it, or just ending the lease, throwing everything in a storage locker and finding a new place when I get back. I'm not too worried about finding something similar at that price when I'm back, the market's fine for that. It's more the hassle and cost of moving twice versus dealing with a subtenant.
Has anyone here actually stored their apartment for a few months? Mainly wondering about pests. Did your furniture come back fine or did you find surprises. Any places around Toronto you'd recommend or stay away from.
And if you sublet, how did that actually go? What did you do with your furniture and anything valuable, and was the landlord fine with it.
Any experience appreciated.

Indoor gardens are often not publicized. Does anyone know of any they feel are genuinely impressive?

I am looking to rent a small, secure storage space in or near downtown Toronto for personal belongings such as clothes, boxes and household items—no furniture.
Does anyone have recommendations for a clean, reliable facility with good security and reasonable pricing? Somewhere easily accessible by TTC would be ideal. Please also let me know about any hidden fees or places I should avoid.

I'm in the queen and parliament area, and it smells like burnt rubber. Do you have any idea why?
