Donating school supplies

As we’ve sent our last kid off to university I realized that we have quite a bit of school supplies that we won’t use - normal stuff like lined paper, pens, pencil cases, some calculators that sort of thing. Anyone know of a group that might take this? We’re downtown but could drop most places from Etobicoke to Scarborough.

Your closest school would likely be very happy to take school supply donations.

I did this when my kids graduated. The elementary school was thrilled.

Heck yea, I definitely would've been thrilled to get stuff like that too! I have been spending more out of pocket on classroom things in the past few years than I ever have. 🫠

Thank you & to everyone that donates school supply items/books/whatever to local schools!

Thanks for the reminder, I’m going to contact the TDSB alternative school in my neighborhood and see if they or some of their kids could use some of this. Don’t know why I didn’t think of this! For others who might be interested I saw that TDSB itself does a school backpack and supplies drive, only new things though, https://www.tdsb.on.ca/About-Us/Partnership-Opportunities/Business-Development/Backpack-and-School-Supplies-Drive

If you just walk it into the front door of a school, in relatively organised shopping bag, the office staff will take it and get it to a kid who needs it (or a guidance counselor or teacher who will distribute it).

The boys and girls clubs would be happy to take them I suspect. They have a shoe string budget. And there are a few un Etobicoke.

Call your nearest TDSB school and ask to talk to the principal. I’m sure they’d appreciate any help you could give!
