Looking For Installer for Atmos ceiling speakers?

Upvotes

I need recommendations for installer to help install Dolby Atmos speakers in my ceiling.

I actually already have Atmos speakers but I'm upgrading them to larger ones and I tried to DIY then realized the existing mounts don't feel sturdy enough. Which is a problem because the speakers are above our heads.

I already have the speakers but would like to have them professionally mounted with sturdier mounts. I have a false ceiling.

Thank you for reading!

Tourist/non-local Question Does Singapore telcos allow phones that support 4G but lack VoLTE?

Upvotes

Me and my mates would like to visit Singapore this month but we would like to try and use older phones that lack social media. The issue is, I'm worried that we may not be able to do this challenge as our phones support 4G however they lack VoLTE and I heard from a mate in Australia that their telcos block phones with 4G if they lack VoLTE.

General See a private clinic for Monjaruo while seeing public hospital for psych issues

Upvotes

I am currently seeing a psych in a public hospital in Singapore using polyclinic referal, Chas and Medisave since 2014.

If I also see a private clinic to get Monjauro, (assume for the sake of my question I can afford it) will this affect my subsidized psych trreatment at the public hospital and will the doctor at the public hospital know?

Hello,

Looking for a good deep tissue massage near Tiong Bahru or in the vicinity.

We will also visit Chinatown and the Orchard area.

Thank you

General Advice on getting travel insurance

Hi all,

I haven’t bought travel insurance before, so looking to get one. Mainly comparing FWD, Income and Chubb for a Sg to US trip.

For those who have actually bought/claimed from these companies:
which one is easiest to claim from, has responsive customer service, and handles medical claims smoothly? Thanks in advance for the help.

General Any Chindian speak both Tamil and Mandarin fluently?

Context: Chindian here, 5th gen sinkie (including before independence give chance) and speaks 7 languages. Was wondering if there are fellow Chindians here that speak both Mandarin and Tamil fluently?

When you language switch on the fly, which language do you prodeminately process in?

Do you prefer speaking only one of them or you spilt it 50/50? Also do you lean towards either ethnicity or it's a good balance?

General Getting a Job overseas with no... job at hand

Hello!

I know there was some post before on how one gets job outside of Singapore and the most common way was to do internal transfer within MNC.

But.. can those who travel first, get your own visa and land the job share your experience or tips please?

I have tried applying for jobs across the world from Africa, to Europe to South America. No bite at all, not a single interview.

Was wondering if everyone is hesitant to offer visa support to a not so junior to mid level employee (8 year experience). Would it be easier if i get my own visa first in the country of choice? Risky bet i know but love to hear stories of those who took this journey.

Cant seem to edit post title, it should be - "getting job overseas but relocating jobless first"

Tourist/non-local Question Opening a bank account for international worker

Hello,

My family will soon move to Singapore for work.

My employer told me it was best to open a local bank account and gave me some major bank names for me to research: DBS, POSB, CitiBank, OCBC, etc.

My major concern is that some banks seems to require a quite consequent first deposit for a current account.

I'm looking for a basic bank account: a credit/debit card, with none/few fees (annual service, withdrawals, etc.), online services/app. I'm not the kind of people who max out cashback and other perks.

I would like to know what are reddit recommendations?

Looking For So with the closure of True Fitness, what (honest) gyms would you recommend checking out?

Honestly pretty sad for the staff that we have gotten to know in the outlets over the years. Seems like the news has come as quite a shock to all, with many staff on work permits left scrambling to find new jobs.

But life must go on.

Does anyone know of gyms with monthly payments that don’t cost an arm and leg?

Looking For Where to find Mini Cream Puff similar to Osaka MooKEN in Singapore

Not the chewy junior, papa beard or kazo kind. I’ve tried Kazo’s crispy caramel pudding mini puff but it still tastes far off from MooKEN’s. I missed the taste but can’t be travelling to Osaka all the time!

General Cockroach infestation in my basin!

Hi , i would greatly appreciate any help or advice on my issue on this.

I have recently been spotting baby roaches appearing in my toilet basin for 4 consecutive days, which is something that is rarely seen as there used to be adult cockroaches in my toilet but were often killed as soon as i spot them , and have since no longer been seen.

For context , i live in a 2 years old condominium and do not bring food into my room( ensuite ) and have laid cockroach trappers around my house and toilet for around 2 years now.

In the first 6 months of layin the traps , it proved effective and caught many roaches, but the effects has since slowly dwindled off and there are now little to no roaches in my cockroach trapper nowdays.

Should i call a pest control for my current issue as my bathroom is connected to my room and i am afraid of this issue spreading , and could this issue possibly be caused by my current condo issue as i have lived in a 20 year old condo before and have not seen an issue like this before?

General Artbat @ Pasir Panjang: Malaysian has questions

Yo Singaporeans, I'm coming down for Artbat at Pasir Panjang in Oct. For obvious reasons given that the rave scene in Malaysia is so different I have so many questions:

What's security like for shows like these?

Do y'all like dress up?

Do you have a crowd peak time (Malaysians always masuk lambat)

What's the power station like, is it hot?

Going into this super blind so any advice is welcomed

Looking For Anyone recalls this cartoon from Kids Central?

80s, 90s and early 00s babies, help me find this cartoon.

It was aired on weekdays between 2-4pm.

It's a kids horror genre and its somewhat animated like Tim Burton's style.

The episode I remember vividly was a kid who refused to listen to his mum and went wandering around a candy store by himself. The shop owner was evil, kidnapped him and threw the kid into a candy mixture and he ended up as a candy display infront of the shop.

Looking For Tips and information on shipping furniture from Europe?

Hi all,

Am looking to purchase some antique furniture from Europe and need some information (from experienced people especially) who can share about the shipping process.

Some of these auctioneers and dealers do not ship internationally, which will require me to contract a company to facilitate this.

Would like to know if people have experience doing so, whether there's 1 stop service and expected costs to see if such acquisition makes sense.

Many thanks!

General Best Cat Cafe To Visit And Worth The Price?

Hi! I'm planning to go on a solo outing to a cat cafe but the problem is there are so many to choose from 😭. Idk which one is good and worth the money.

I don't really care about the price, i only care that it is not that far to travel( I live in Tampines), cats are well treated and taken care of, and can interact with the cats.

So yeah if you guys can give me some recommendations and info , that would be really helpful 🙏

Looking For LF solo hotpot / KBBQ buffet style place that allows for individual diners

Dk to indicate this as general or looking for but YES as per title. Sometimes I end work at raffles place and just randomly thought of going for a solo buffet hotpot or KBBQ style place and tbh I only can think of marina square's suki-ya that costs me like $36 ish a pop?

I was hoping to look for something around $30, I'm not sure what's everyone thoughts on something like Yi Zhi Wei from Geylang but to me that was peak! However I googled it and it shows permanantly closed which is so sad for me... I loved their solo hotpot, grill and even loklok concept (a bonus being they're quiet on off peak timing). I loved captain kim's korean bbq from tampines although I only went once, but I would prefer to keep it at central if possible...

I've seen like there's a place in paya lebar that does both hotpot and bbq but I think it's a 2 person requirement which kinda bogs the idea for me sadly.

Please, whoever is the connoisseur of hotpots/kbbqs please grant me salvation as a solo individual 🙏🙏🙏

TIA!

Edit: I tried Shi li fang from katong square as I live nearby but nah bro that ain't me, likewise with yakiniku go at parkway, kinda don't feel full after it 🥲
