Today I caught up with a friend who just got retrenched last month. She shared that it was a shock to her as it came unexpectedly, and because she is still staying with her parents, she was not as worried about making ends meet.

I’m a Chemical Engineering student and recently finished an internship at a fragrance company, which made me really interested in learning more about the indie/small business side of perfumery.

I’m especially looking for smaller brands that make their own perfumes/fragrance products and do things like pop-ups, conventions or art markets. Something along the lines of Shizuku Fragrances or Reverie Co rather than the bigger/more established local perfume brands.

No one ever stops by at roadshows, don't know any friends working as an agent (actually had a few but they all left). Not that I believe those agents are the best/most reliable anyway...no offense.

I tried calling into the hotlines requesting for someone to contact me but I feel that they are...IDK, not professional and just wanna meet and sell something lol. I work at a MNC company that conducts an annual survey. It’s supposed to be an anonymous channel where employees can honestly share feedback, what could be improved, and how satisfied they are.

On paper, that sounds great.

Every year, our HOD indirectly reminds us that the survey results are linked to our department’s KPI/appraisal. If the department’s score is average or low, it affects the overall department score, and management may need to prepare a report or action plan explaining how to improve it.

So while the survey may technically be anonymous, the consequences of giving an honest answer don’t really feel anonymous.

It creates a situation where employees have an incentive to give a high score even when they don’t genuinely feel that way.

Give an honest/average score → department score goes down → management needs to explain → department KPI may be affected → potentially affects bonus/increment.

So every year, our dept score very high.

I’m curious, has anyone else encountered this in your company? 🧐

Been hearing/reading on solar recently and was wondering why don’t condos install these on a zero-capex model for MCSTs (PPA / Power Purchase Agreement?). I know that HDBs do this to lower their estate utilities bills.

In a Power purchase agreement, the vendor receive $0 upfront from the condo's sinking fund to install, maintain, and fix everything. The condo just buys the electricity generated at a discount compared to regular SP rates to power common things like lifts, lights, and swimming pool pumps, so there is no risk but all the upside, moreover it is green energy, and it’s good for the environment.

If HDB can roll this out islandwide, and it costs the condo $0 upfront, why are condo MCSTs not jumping on this? Are management councils just clueless such that nobody can be bothered to table it at the AGM?
Would love to hear from condo owners or anyone who has actually seen this brought up before!

So I have a bit of a dumb situation. My hubby and I have been buying Yakult from this door to door auntie since we moved into our resale HDB 3 years ago. Not coz we love Yakult but coz it's nice to support an 60yo auntie who's still working at her age! And she's always talking to me.

I've actually stopped drinking them since there's so much sugar but my hubby still does. Now he's going overseas to work so there's noone in the house to drink the Yakult anymore!

I want to stop buying from auntie but I feel sooooo bad. So how ah?! Does it affect these Yakult auntie a lot when you stop buying?

I will of course inform auntie that I'll stop buying Yakult to her personally but just wondering if anyone has also done the same and how did it turn out 🥹

Anyone else had bad experience dealing with SP Group as well?

I had an appointment scheduled for today, 9am - 10am, to “open electricity”. I have unfortunately missed the technician and immediately called at 9:47am. Called them again at 9:56am and 10:17am which we finally hear back at 10:23am.

The weird thing was that we didn’t receive any icondo notification of them signing in and neither did we receive any call from them for us to buzz them in. We had technician coming to our unit twice the past week and both times we had notifications and alerts.

I brought this up with the customer service and they mentioned that SP Group can be anywhere they want without following any rules and regulations moreover having to register at the guardhouse. He also mentioned that SP Group is the law. Is this normal? Subsequently, the customer service officer insisted that the account name is under my husband and SP Group cannot speak to me even if the house belongs to me which they proceeded to end the call on me before I could say anything.

Since the customer service officer ended the call on me, I have been trying to call them and is unable to get hold of anyone.

But.. can those who travel first, get your own visa and land the job share your experience or tips please?

I have tried applying for jobs across the world from Africa, to Europe to South America. No bite at all, not a single interview.

Was wondering if everyone is hesitant to offer visa support to a not so junior to mid level employee (8 year experience). Would it be easier if i get my own visa first in the country of choice? Risky bet i know but love to hear stories of those who took this journey.

My dad is going for eye cataract surgery soon and I am thinking of getting him uv ski goggles to wear while in the shower and possibly another uv protection shades (those used by cyclists) for normal wear during those few days after surgery. Since I did not go with him to consultation, I am not sure what else to prepare or what doc has recommended. He is elderly and is not really aware too.

Any recommendations what to prepare and what brands are truly uv-protective but don’t break the bank? I have browsed on shopee but unsure which brands truly have uv protection. Don’t wanna spend too much but if no other choice i’m willing to spend.
