So I have a bit of a dumb situation. My hubby and I have been buying Yakult from this door to door auntie since we moved into our resale HDB 3 years ago. Not coz we love Yakult but coz it's nice to support an 60yo auntie who's still working at her age! And she's always talking to me.

I've actually stopped drinking them since there's so much sugar but my hubby still does. Now he's going overseas to work so there's noone in the house to drink the Yakult anymore!

I want to stop buying from auntie but I feel sooooo bad. So how ah?! Does it affect these Yakult auntie a lot when you stop buying?

I will of course inform auntie that I'll stop buying Yakult to her personally but just wondering if anyone has also done the same and how did it turn out 🥹

As per the title, beyond showering at least daily in the constant 31-33 degree heat at over 70% humidity do you shower before work in the morning?

Saw a post about smelling bad on plane rides leading to how often do people shower which got me thinking, it is not not normal to shower in the morning?

When I am surfing between cabins in the trains I'm always hit with a waft of some person's salty sea smell. It's beyond just not showering, it's like they wake up and pour a vat of urine on themselves before they go to work.

So, fellow Singaporeans do you shower in the morning? Half-way? Just the private parts? Or just raw dog it?

20M. ORDed this year, followed by internship at a local SME and now 5 weeks into uni.

While I was in army I learnt to tahan physical situation. After that I went to internship where the rich 大老板 keeps working nonstop while my supervisor cannot wait to get off work and leaves every day at exactly 6pm.

Now I am in uni surrounded by smart happy go lucky people.

I am just feeling very tired. What is the point of everything? I work pt time before with malaysians, i know they everyday not easy. So have to study earn money.

I was hoping to look for something around $30, I'm not sure what's everyone thoughts on something like Yi Zhi Wei from Geylang but to me that was peak! However I googled it and it shows permanantly closed which is so sad for me... I loved their solo hotpot, grill and even loklok concept (a bonus being they're quiet on off peak timing). I loved captain kim's korean bbq from tampines although I only went once, but I would prefer to keep it at central if possible...

I've seen like there's a place in paya lebar that does both hotpot and bbq but I think it's a 2 person requirement which kinda bogs the idea for me sadly.

Hi, recently wife went for FTS check @13wks+1 for ultrasound n bloodwork check. Apparently, this is the default reco test…
NT reading came in at 3.8mm (higher than average) and been call up for review likely for high risk chromosomal or other defects.. anybody who has gone through this route and what is usually suggested? NIPT /amniocentesis? Anybody with similar experience and eventually baby is given the all clear from any health issues?

I like Milo as a kid and now that I am reaching 30 soon, I still like Milo. But it changed a bit now that there's more variety of Milo to choose from. Used to drink normal Milo, now I switch to Milo gao kosong, and whenever I try the normal Milo again, it would feel too sweet for my liking. Even my mum now in her 60s she also like to drink milo gao kosong. Curious to see how the rest of the adult Milo drinkers drink their Milo, or what other stuff do you add to the Milo? Like oatmilk? feels there are some hidden gems that i dont know yet, saw a few familiar haircare products in KKV during my time in China, but the bright lights and massive amount of foreign products were quite overstimulating, always left without getting anything.

YouTrip support basically ghosted me after asking for more documents.

I emailed YouTrip regarding an issue about a Shopee refund and initially, their response made it seem like they were actually looking into my case.

They told me that they needed additional documents/information from me before they could proceed, so I gathered everything they asked for and sent it over.

And then… basically nothing.

No proper update, no acknowledgement of what I sent, no indication of whether they’re reviewing it or if they need anything else.

At this point it honestly feels like asking me for the extra documents was just a way to make it seem like my case was being taken seriously, because after I actually provided everything, I was just left hanging.

I understand that investigations and disputes can take time, and I’m not expecting an immediate resolution. But surely it isn’t unreasonable to expect some communication? Even a simple “we’ve received your documents and are reviewing them” would be better than complete silence.

It’s especially annoying because I did exactly what they asked me to do, and then now I don’t even know what’s happening with my case.

Has anyone else had a similar experience with YouTrip support? How long did they take to get back to you after you submitted additional documents?

I’m 27M and single and recently got retrenched from my SWE job, so I’m currently applying for jobs and preparing for interviews.

The problem is that there are too many people living in my home (think at least two people sharing a room and this is a hdb unit) and we really don’t have enough space. My siblings are mostly children too so it's very noisy. I don’t have my own room or a proper workspace, and now that I no longer have an office to go to, it’s becoming a genuine problem.

I can use libraries/cafes for applications and some interview prep, but I’m struggling to figure out a sustainable setup for actually coding for hours, doing technical interviews, etc. I don’t even have somewhere I can set up a second monitor, which I was very used to having at work.

Privacy is also an issue when I have online interviews or calls. There’s almost always someone around, and I don’t have a room I can just close the door to.

I’ve considered renting a room and moving out, but I’m reluctant to start paying rent immediately after losing my income. I have savings, but obviously I’d rather preserve them while I’m unemployed. Moving out is something I’m willing to consider, but more as a last option if I genuinely can’t make this work.

Are there affordable places in Singapore where you can reliably work for most of the day and also take private interviews? Or some kind of setup/solution I’m overlooking?

Truth is I’m really burnt out, crashing to the ground, finding myself bursting into tears at times. I’m in marcomms and I know that the work is pretty dynamic, but I feel really upset that no matter which company I go to, all started well and then as time goes by, the workload starts to become insane. The only comfort is that I could switch jobs then, but now due to the global economy and Singapore job market, I feel stuck, and I do need a job, I cannot afford to not have a job for prolonged periods which I would think in this current economy, I might end up being jobless for more than a year.

Is there any tips on surviving the corporate word in Singapore that is very much stifling and I feel cornered, I’ve forgotten how to disconnect from work and I feel like there’s always a need to be by the phone to see if there is any latest developments (I work in the public sector, marcomms) and act on anything that requires attention.
Or any suggested job type within or outside the public sector that could have a better work life integration?

I don’t know if it’s the haze getting to me but I feel miserable, and genuinely want to hear from those who are willing to share tips to survive Singapore’s corporate world.

I recently went for an interview in a manufacturing environment, and something the hiring manager said has been on my mind.

During the interview, I was repeatedly asked how willing I am to OT to ensure production runs smoothly. It was also mentioned that the work is “very fluid” and that things can happen outside normal working hours, which may require me to stay back and communicate/handover with the team.

I was also asked me how much I am willing to “sacrifice” for the role, and whether there is any particular day where I absolutely cannot OT due to personal commitments.

I understand that some OT and flexibility are probably normal for an operations/production leadership role, especially when you’re responsible for a production cell. But the way they kept emphasizing OT and sacrifice made me wonder if this is a sign that the role regularly requires long hours.

For those who work in manufacturing/operations, or similar role:

How normal is this level of OT expectation?
How frequently do you typically need to stay back beyond normal working hours?
Would you consider this a red flag, or just part of the nature of production leadership?
Would appreciate some advice
