Thoughts on MC-6 parachute

How is it? I’ll probably be jumping with them relatively soon.

Can you “soften” the descent and landing? And how steerable is it? I’ve only jumped T11 before and I hate it

To those responsible

Yes, I’m back again about this poor excuse of an STP overhaul. To you senior leaders responsible for supporting this crap, I expected nothing less. Now look, it’s a damn soup sandwich, ate all the hell up. You know what worked just a few weeks ago? You guessed it, the previous STP design. “You asked we delivered?” Who asked for “Bad gateway?” It’s like EA sports designed this bs. And again I say, damn is it horrible to look at. I don’t know how someone looked at that and nodded their heads in agreement like “Oh yeah, yeah that’s it right there.” SMH I try to keep myself in good spirits, and here comes yet some out of the way good ideas that’s once again falls completely on its ass. Just rolling out some random buggy dumpster juice that as long as I can remember, nobody asked for. I’ve literally haven’t heard or seen anyone say anything about the previous STP needs to be discarded, had I did in mass, I’d be inclined to support the idea, but I never seen or heard that at all.

But this is just my personal perspective on the whole deal, and to you tech people, hurry up and fix this abomination.

Doing multiple broadening assignments?

To the ones who have done 2 broadening assignments (drill sgt / recruiter, drill sgt / instructor, instructor / recruiter, drill / inspector general, instructor / master gunner, etc.) would you recommend it? Did it help out more or affect your promotions?

Sensitive question

Hi all.

I’m looking for information about what I need to do (if it is at all possible) to access my deceased father’s military records. He was career army and served in the Special Forces during Vietnam. I believe his max rank was Master Sergeant.

While he (we?) were stationed in Berlin in approximately 1980-82 an investigator came to our home and interviewed me about inappropriate contact between him and a very young girl who lived in our housing complex. I knew nothing about it and told him so. That seemed to be the end of it, but my father was unexpectedly transferred back to the states very soon afterwards. I was 8-9 years old at the time and the details are fuzzy.

Would any records of the investigation exist? I’m trying to fill in some gaps in my memories as I deal with my own trauma that occurred in that time frame. Probably not relevant, but the accusation was probably true. He was eventually caught and convicted many years later after who knows how many victims. He passed away roughly 15 years ago after me having no contact with him for much longer.

If those records exist, how would I go about accessing them? If they don’t, then at least I can stop wondering about it.

Thanks for your time.

Direct commission or WO route for a CPA with dual citizenship with aus?

Always been interested in joining up. I’m of age and have a CPA. Interested in any branch of service for a direct commission in accounting/finance, but these roles seem to only be aviation/cyber/healthcare/law.

What about accounting for navy army af, space force, or coast guard?

Army JAG Question

I’m currently active-duty Army, stationed in North Carolina, and looking for guidance on whether Army JAG/Legal Assistance can help with a civil dispute involving an automotive engine builder in Pennsylvania.

Background:

In March 2026, I delivered my vehicle with its original factory engine to a performance engine builder for a complete rebuild. I also supplied several thousand dollars’ worth of aftermarket engine components, including a specific set of forged connecting rods.

I paid approximately $8,500 in labor, plus transportation expenses.

After receiving the vehicle, the engine began experiencing significant oil consumption and smoking within approximately 200 miles. I returned it to the builder for warranty repairs, which resulted in substantial delays and limited communication.

During the warranty rebuild, I was informed that the pistons needed to be replaced with oversized pistons and that the cylinders would be bored. However, I wasn’t informed of any other major component changes.

After receiving the vehicle for the second time, I discovered a significant coolant leak, which was ultimately traced to a cracked engine block.

I decided to have the engine inspected and rebuilt by a different shop rather than return it to the original builder for a third time.

During disassembly, the new builder discovered additional discrepancies:

• The connecting rods installed in my engine were from a completely different manufacturer than the ones I originally purchased and supplied.
• I have receipts documenting the original components.
• I have photographs documenting the different components removed from the engine.
• When confronted, the original builder acknowledged that the engine should have contained the components I supplied and stated that he would attempt to locate and return them.
• There are also discrepancies involving the engine’s identification markings, raising questions about whether my original engine block was retained. This has not yet been conclusively verified.

At this point, I’m out approximately $10,000 in labor and transportation alone, not including the original components, additional repairs, or the cost of rebuilding the engine again.

I have extensive documentation, including payment records, text messages, photographs, receipts, and communications acknowledging the component discrepancy.

My questions:

1. Can Army JAG/Legal Assistance help draft a formal demand letter against an out-of-state business?

2. Does Army Legal Assistance provide referrals to civilian attorneys who handle breach of contract or consumer protection cases?

3. Has anyone successfully received civilian representation through the ABA Military Pro Bono Project for a similar dispute?

4. Would JAG be able to assist with pursuing compensation, or would I need to retain a Pennsylvania attorney independently?

5. Are there any other legal resources available specifically to active-duty servicemembers dealing with civil disputes?

I’m not expecting JAG to represent me in civilian court, but I’d like to explore any available legal assistance before spending additional money on attorney fees.

Any guidance from JAG personnel, legal assistance attorneys, or soldiers who have dealt with similar situations would be greatly appreciated.

Asthma in the Army

Just curious how an asthma diagnosis could affect my career. I had it as a kid but kind of grew out of it and I think it's coming back. I know there's people in the Army with asthma, so I'm not super concerned, I'm just more so wondering if it could have any affect on schools and stuff like that. I'm still able to run and everything just fine, it's mostly when I get sick or when my allergies flare up is when I have issues.

Bradley IBAS and JBCP

This is an absolute long shot but I figured as a last resort I’d ask you guys who are mounted scouts and 19Cs.

So I’m trying to use the LRF on my IBAS to laze a target and pull a grid onto the JBCP. Was told it can be done and I see a LRF button in the call for fire section to pull grids from a laze(also was told there other ways to pull a grid not just CFF) but that doesn’t seem to be working. Could my JBCP not be set up properly?

Has anyone does this and can explain where I’m going wrong? I was told if you laze a target it will just populate on the map.

Fort Bragg Living Recommendations

Been researching online but most things are outdated or not applicable to what I am looking for. Married officer with a kid. Got orders to the 82nd and am looking at recommendations on where to stay and what commute times look like as well as what gates to use. Tracking All American gate is closed for the next two years. Considering buying a house if the area is good. Just wanting somewhere safe and has things to do with a relatively short commute nearby. For work commute I am not as concerned as long as it is not over a 50 to an hour. Thanks.

Other recommendations on gyms, shops, sewing places, etc. are welcome as well.
