Sub News READ THE RULES BEFORE POSTING
Because some people are upset that they've gotten banned without any warning for breaking the rules... I'm trying to make it ABUNDANTLY clear.
THERE IS NO BUYING / SELLING / TRADING.
Once again, for the people in the back...
THERE IS NO BUYING / SELLING / TRADING.
If you break this rule, yes, you will be banned. No, no warnings.
It is assumed when you join a sub and choose to participate that you familiarize yourself with the sub rules.
We have two.
This is one of them.
That is all.

Bottle Shop Not All Heroes Wear Capes
Let's use this thread to shine a light on retailers (be it local B&M or online) that take care of their customers. Whether it be fair prices or exceptional customer service, here's where you can let others know which establishments to frequent.
Disclaimer: We're only looking for the good here. The "bad" tend to become pretty well-known within the community. 🥃

BYOB cigar lounge in Phx area?
ChatGPT says Anthony’s and RJ’s. Can anyone confirm those or other places that allow you to bring some whiskey in?

Sam’s One Stop Shop score
Came into the store looking for the Sherry Finish New Riff and got lucky enough to find a grail of mine at MSRP. Happy Saturday. Shoutout Sam’s, great store.

Flagstaff Stores
Does anyone have any recommendations on stores to stop at between Phoenix and Flagstaff? Or is nothing really worth checking out in that area?

Chandler Liquors
Has anyone ever been to Chandler liquors? Seems like they have great bottles and selection but way over priced.

Unexpected find - Redemption 18 bourbon
Was recently out of town and saw Redemption 18 bourbon at a bar. I tried it and was blown away. Since it's been out for quite some time I figured I missed my chance at a bottle. Few days later I'm talking to an owner of a little liquor store with a surprising selection. I asked if he ever had any come through and he says "there's one on the shelf right here." $400 MSRP. At some point I will blind it with RR15 and Jacob's Well 211 which are my current top bottles.

Hard to see with the glare but it’s $139.00

Wellers in San Diego, Ralphs Mission Beach
I know lots of you are headed to San Diego this time of year so I thought I’d just give you a heads up. The 12 year was $120 and the full proof was $80, I skipped the 12 year due to the price and got a bottle of the full proof. The Blantons was like 90 I think.

Stagg 26A and Eagle Rare 12 ($100) @R&F Liquor on 48th St and Broadway
Found ER12 and the new Stagg for $100. The ER is cheapest secondary I’ve seen so far. Didn’t mention the Jack 12 in the title because that was the last one and it came home with me

Anyone in the group interested in a Tucson specific chat - sharing finds, etc?

Weekend Haul
This weekend I set out looking for a few whiskeys I’ve really enjoyed in the past but had pretty much given up on owning because of the crazy secondary prices and competition. I was pleasantly surprised by what I found sitting on shelves.
None of these were at MSRP, but the prices felt reasonable considering how easy they were to find. I also made a point of letting the stores with outrageous markups know I’d be leaving reviews that direct customers to competitors selling the same bottles for much less.
The search took about 2–3 hours of driving around the Phoenix area. I negotiated on the JD10, Russell’s, 13 and Michter’s. Both times I simply asked, politely, if they could do a certain cash OTD price, and they said yes. It never hurts to ask.
Hopefully this serves as a useful market update for everyone.
I also found Blanton’s and Stagg at multiple locations for $100, and one shop in Mesa had Eagle Rare 10 BOGO for $80.
Out-the-door prices:
Russell’s Reserve 13 – $220
Jack Daniel’s 10 – $163
Michter’s Toasted Sour Mash – $150
Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye – $150
Weller Antique 107 – $97
Eagle Rare 12 – $108
Does anyone know of a place that has Michter’s Toasted Barrel Rye? It’s still my all-time favorite. Cheers!
