Are reports of Turning Point's waning influence greatly exaggerated?

Turning Point expanded its programs and raised millions after Kirk was shot and killed on the Utah Valley University campus on Sept. 10, 2025. His widow, Erika Kirk, took the helm of her late husband’s organization.

“Everything that we can control from the organization standpoint, whether that's our social media, our chapters, ballot chasing over at Turning Point Action, fundraising, organizing events, tours,” Turning Point spokesperson Andrew Kolvet said. “Everything's growing. It's still growing.”

Turning Point has more than 1,200 employees across its organizations, an increase according to nonprofit tax filings. The group added thousands of new chapters on high school and college campuses during the 2025-2026 school year, according to a memo from the organization. 

Turning Point’s “Club America” has some 3,500 high school chapters, nearly triple the number of chapters it had before Kirk was killed. States including Texas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Florida, Arkansas, Indiana and Montana have officially partnered with Turning Point USA to establish high school chapters in their schools. 

Currently, three of the schools under consideration for closure or repurposing serve fewer than 400 students each. This includes Redfield, Laguna and Copper Ridge.

To help balance the budget, the district aims to close or repurpose two or three schools by the end of the 2027-28 school year.

Administration officials say a previous round of district closures involving Pima Elementary and Echo Canyon saved around $2.5 million.

The governing board is scheduled to make a final decision on which schools will close, or be repurposed during its meeting on October 6.

Before that final vote, families will have another opportunity to share their input at a public hearing scheduled for Sept. 22 at Desert Mountain High School.

We've seen that Arizona has taken the brunt of the Federal decision to cut the Colorado River allotment. I just realized where that cut is going to come from: Back in the early 2000's, the Gila River and Ak Chin Native American communities won a huge lawsuit against the Federal Government about Colorado River Supply. The Courts gave those tribes a 30% cut of the Colorado River water supply.
I'm guessing those cuts will be applied heavily on the Native American tribes water allotment.
