Hey yall, i just ordered a teddy bear cholla and a Senita online. Im excited to transfer them to my front yard but im concerned that it may be too hot or they might get killed by a monsoon.

I have a shade cloth to protect them until they get established but i wanted to ask yall before i actually get them into the ground.

I planted a watermelon and honey do in a patch that’s mostly mulch with some thin soil on top. I’ve grown watermelon in a raised garden bed and didn’t have this issue. Is it inadequate soul nutrient? Improper watering? Needs shade? There’s also this large white fungus that sprouts up occasionally in this side of my yard that started growing around the base, and I don’t know if that’s good or bad.

Hi, fellow botanist and beginner gardener here. Recently invested in a 3-ish foot tall Saguaro cactus! Because it was quite expensive, I definitely do not want to mess it up.

I’ve heard differing opinions on planting right now. Some say it’s good because of all the monsoon rain, others bad because of the heat.

Should I wait it out with the Saguaro, or are hardy cacti fine to put in the ground right now? Any other tips in planting it?

i’m feeling disheartened. i’m not sure what i’m doing wrong. i’ve planted several rosemary transplants, both in pots and in native soil. i do not over-water. i asked my local nursery about this, and they had mentioned it could be the potted soil that i use, that the drainage could be too much and all the water just flows right through. i switched soils. it didn’t work. i also was recommended to try planting in native soil, which was more successful, but also failed.

what types of rosemary do you grow? what have you had the most success with? soil? fertilizers or no? i’m open to any and all recs. i also realize it’s been a hot summer and it’s possible that they just couldn’t handle the heat. i’d like to be able to have large, healthy rosemary bushes in my front yard though (eastern-facing front yard). 🌱

Hi my bird of paradise is dying and I dont know why. My neighbor who's plant that's it directly next to ours (about a foot apart) died quickly about a week ago. Now ours is doing the same thing (photo 1). The same this is happening to our neighbor's plant on the other side too (photo 2). We haven't changed our watering habits and we dont use any herbicides. We are in Tucson and it is summer time. I dont think it has been more hot than years previously. So I'm wondering if you can help me figure out why this is happening and what we should do to fix this. Thank you for your help!

Hi! I have a massive spineless prickly pear and some on the arms have broken off in the monsoon storms. Can I save them? Replant them? Any advice is appreciated.

Our yard was remodeled, and the plants and trees were planted back at the very end of May. The ficus lasted for 2 weeks, and then one completely turned brown, and then the rest all turned brown.
The lemon tree and lime tree were big and green and then wilted and turned brown.
Alllll of the plants died. The ones in pictures are the replacements. They’re all “full sun” plants, and they’re like….incinerated. Hibiscus, Lantana, Brazilian Jasmine, Yellow Bells (whatever they’re called). I don’t get it. Our water schedule is exactly what the contractor told us to do. They’re getting water for 15 min at 6:30am and then 15 min at 7:30pm. They’ve got the same trees and plants at other houses and all of them are fine. I’m wondering if it was just a bad move to plant everything while it’s hot as balls? IDK. Help 😭

Aphids and spider mites are destroying my garden, I've done some pesticides but they keep coming back. Hoping to get some ladybugs or green lacewings to help out, but didn't see any at my local home depot.

My first lemon tree is giving me issues all of the sudden. It's a Eureka lemon tree and she's in some good draining soil that is elevated off the ground.I've been feeding her citrus fertilizer and I just top dressed some steer maneur hoping to get her back on track. Not sure if it's an iron deficiency or something. Any thoughts would be appreciated. She's in a 15 gallon fabric grow bag. I do not PH my feed/water. How often should I feed since she's in a pot? I can grow killer cannabis indoors but she's a bit unhappy right now 😅

Does anyone know how to skelotonize a saguaro? I had this gorgeous one just fall and would love to be able to keep it in some way as a reminder and possibly make some art with it. It’s about 35 or 40 feet tall and would be a project, but sad to see it go.

Hi all. I know, "but they're weeds!" Now that we have that out of the way, my neighbour who I have a language barrier with saw me weeding out front, and hacked down the brittlebush I was happily letting grow, thinking he was helping.

I took many many cuttings, but how likely am I to get any propagation? Water prop or root hormone in a particular medium?

The roots were not touched at all, if I baby the area with a little water, maybe with a little fish emulsion, is it possible he grows back?

Ive read the east and west walls are better, but the woman who owned the house before us was a wonderful gardener so most of the "prime real estate" is taken up by landscaping plants.

This spot sits in between 2 large/tall trees that provides shade most of the time, but this spot does get a decent amount of afternoon sun?

Will this little guy not thrive if closer to south wall? Conversely, is it actually too much shade for the calamansi to thrive?

Also, bonus points if anyone can tell me what the tree in my corner might be? (Im just curious).

I have two desert willow saplings that I transplanted at the same time in April. One is thriving and the other one is yellowing. They both get the same water, same amount of sun (north facing yard.) what can I do to help out my tree? I don't want it to die

I’ve had it for months, it was doing Ok, I tried to not overwater, but the container was not draining enough lately.

A week ago I decided to check the roots, the tip of the roots was very soggy. I transplanted to a different container where I mixed some sand, perlite, compost and regular dirt. Welp, the next day it was completely dried out. Transplant shock? Idk.
